About The Artwork This is a brightly colored abstract basket and handled vessel form with an abundance of glaze drips and textures, continuing with my exploration of abstract basket forms in white earthenware clay. The white clay provides a bright surface for the glaze colors to mix and compliment each other similar to the way I use paint on a canvas. This piece has an intensely busy surface with a variety of textures from glossy to matte, and very bold color. These sculptural pieces in this series are explorations of color to compliment my painting practice. The glaze behaves within with subtle elements of unpredictability- though within parameters of its firing capabilities. I know that after modifying a glaze that it will likely drip or run, but I wont know by how much until I can safely open the cooled kiln after a firing. It has been my intention to make very complex pieces that offer a new discovery of detail with every viewing. This sculpture will ship safely packaged in a heavy duty box.
