MY BEST-SELLING DIY LAMP PART - OVER 6,000 SOLD (so far!) FAVORITED OVER 900 TIMES ON ETSY This is a life-saving adapter if you make industrial pipe lamps, and want to add a bulb socket, glass insulator, or power cord to your project. It lets you easily mount a standard 1/8" IPS (3/8" O.D.) lamp nipple or cord strain relief into the female end of a plumbing pipe fitting without having to use those big, bulky adapters that don't fit right, and ruin the look of your project. I searched for something like this for nearly 3 years, and couldn’t find it, so I designed and created it myself (so you won't find these anywhere else!). The thread count and taper (or lack thereof) is different between plumbing and electrical fittings, so other adapters out there may look like they will work, won't fit properly. For example, a 1/8" plumbing fitting has tapered threads, so a lamp nipple (which has straight threads) will go in only a couple of turns, then it will get stuck. And even if you can make it fit, you will see a big bulky adapter between your pipe fitting and your glass insulator or socket (see examples in photo #2). My exclusive adapter virtually disappears once it's installed. Great for mounting glass insulators (with a 1/2" hole drilled at the top) to iron or copper pipes, with or without a candelabra socket inside. A pair of neoprene rubber washers (not included) are recommended when mounting glass insulators (see photo #4), but I do also offer a complete socket and mount kit for glass insulators, which includes the rubber washers, one of these adapters, and all other parts that you would need, including a bulb socket. See this listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1101746526/glass-insulator-porcelain-socket-mount?click_key=36c330f5bfb1983028e2674c185bcb2defb2cd36%3A1101746526&click_sum=c689809c&ref=shop_home_active_2&crt=1&sts=1 These adapters are NOT 3D printed! They are machined from solid metal, they won't rust, and are tested to support up to 50 pounds*. Slots on either side of the opening make for easy installation or removal - a standard flat-head screwdriver or even a coin can be used. See the video in this listing to see just how easy they are to install. They fit both metric (1.0mm) and fractional (27 tpi) lamp nipples. Each adapter is approx. 7.5 to 7.65mm thick, and requires approx. 2-1/2 turns to sit flush (they will automatically stop at flush). A locknut can be used on the backside, for added strength, if desired. These adapters are available in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" NPT sizes. You are buying the adapter(s) only - the lamp nipples, fittings, glass insulators, sockets, rubber washers, and other items shown in the photos are for illustration only, and are not included. HOW TO ORDER: Choose the outer NPT pipe thread size and quantity you want. For the Quantity menu below that, leave it set at 1 (unless you want more than one pack of 12 adapters, for example). Keep in mind that the actual outer diameter of these adapters is 1/4" wider than the NPT pipe thread size (for example, the 1/2" adapter measures 3/4" in actual diameter, but is made for 1/2" pipe). The more you buy, the more you save - save up to 40% when buying a 20 pack! SIZING AND PRICING: 1/2” NPT THREAD (actual adapter outer diameter is 3/4"): • Single Adapter $5 • 2 Pack $8 ($4 ea) • 4 Pack $15 ($3.75 ea) • 8 Pack $28 ($3.50 ea) • 12 Pack $39 ($3.25 ea) • 20 Pack $60 ($3 ea) --message me for pricing of more than 20 adapters, further discounts will be considered 3/4” NPT THREAD (actual adapter outer diameter is 1"): • Single Adapter $5.50 • 2 Pack $9 ($4.50 ea) • 4 Pack $17 ($4.25 ea) • 8 Pack $32 ($4 ea) • 12 Pack $45 ($3.75 ea) • 20 Pack $70 ($3.50 ea) 1” NPT THREAD (actual adapter outer diameter is 1-1/4"): • Single Adapter $7 • 2 Pack $12 ($6 ea) • 4 Pack $23 ($5.75 ea) • 8 Pack $44 ($5.50 ea) • 12 Pack $63 ($5.25 ea) • 20 Pack $100 ($5 ea) Please message me if you need quantities not listed here, or if you have any questions before purchasing these adapters, and please take a moment to check out the variety of other exclusive DIY lamp parts and hand-made Steampunk Lamps I offer here in my Etsy Shop. Thank you for looking! *Tested with 50 pounds of weight pressing straight down onto the adapter - not tested at a 90º angle. If using these adapters for hanging fixtures, floating shelves, or chandeliers, I recommend adding a 1/8" IPS locknut to the inside of the adapter, for additional support and stability.

Lamps are a common household item. You might have at least one in your home, and many of you reading this will likely have several lamps conveniently placed
Part II of my silverware lamp project...in my previous post, I gathered all of my materials and prepped both the base and the silverware. As noted earlier, the base received a top coat of paint (well, actually 3-4 coats...with spray painting, it is much better to do several light coats rather than be in a hurray and get it all done with one coat - invariably, you will have drips and runs and afterward kick yourself for being impatient...I speak from experience!) I left the base alone for several weeks to let the paint cure. Onto the shade...I decided to wrap both the bottom and the top edges of the wire form with ribbon. This would give a finished look and would also hide the wire wrapping on the top edge. I wrapped the bottom edge before I started work on hanging the silverware - I used a dark brown/gray silk seam binding by Midori Ribbon. I used 40 pieces of silverware for this shade - I alternated between spoons, forks and knives - hung some high, hung some low - all depended upon "the fit" of the pieces. I used a length of thin wire, threaded through the top hole of the silverware and then folded the wire in half. I then twisted the wire to form a single strand, leaving approximately 1"-2" at the top untwisted. With the short length of untwisted wire, I wrapped this around the top rim of the shade. I continued around the top rim, ensuring equal distance between each piece. With all silverware attached, I wrapped the top rim with the same Midori Ribbon used on the bottom, overlapping sufficiently to hide all of the wrapped wire. And Voila! I used a white vanity bulb to soften the light - an Edison bulb would also look terrific. I like all the different tones and patterns of the silverware and how the light is reflected. I think I might tackle a hanging silverware chandelier...I'll keep you posted! 9/17/11 update - I'm linking up this project to Funky Junk Interiors Saturday Nite Special again...its the Ultimate Repurposing Party...and this by far has been my best repurposing idea - check it out for other creative DIY ideas...and thank Donna of Funky Junk for being such a great hostess!
Lamps. We all need them. Overhead lights, if they exist in a room, are not conducive to reading or creating a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. For spaces where the furniture arrangement may be flexible, and light is needed at eye level, lamps are the only option. And it is not that easy to find a good one!

I'm having a sale this weekend. Yes, another impromptu one. I was sitting in my studio yesterday, and, decided to do it. I made the announcement on Facebook last night, but, I know quite a few of you are not on Facebook. Which brings me to another topic. If you send me a Friend Request on Facebook, would you please let me know if you're one of my blog followers. I've become increasingly cautious about who I friend. There are some shady folks prowling around FB. Having sales, and appointments are working out better for me right now than setting up at a show. I'm keeping things organized, and keeping my health in check. My sale will be this Saturday, and Sunday. If you're local (I'm in Lansing, IL), send me an email for details. If you ask me a question in the comments, and, you're a NO-REPLY, I can't answer you. For those of you already planning to be here, see ya soon. I'm glad I did so much cleaning and organizing before my last sale. I didn't have as much prep work for this one. My sales are kinda free-for-all anyway. I don't stress about every detail. It's a diggers delight. I'll be kicking back the rest of the day.
