Your mornings don't always have to be perfect to be perfect. How to create a morning routine that works for you.
If you have wellness goals that always seemed to be slightly out of reach, then listen up. Your morning routine can make or break your success! Hi! I’m Bree Cox, and I am a certified health and fitness coach that has helped thousands of women transform from the inside out with simple habits. I’m going to teach you powerful shifts that are easy to implement so you can reach your goals and stay consistent long term. Your morning habits can set the tone for a productive and energized day. They can seriously make or break your goals. Even if you’re a busy mom, and it feels like you have so much on your plate, I want you to know that you can do this. Get ready to transform your mornings to a time of self-care and personal growth. SET THE TONE FOR A PRODUCTIVE DAY: Wake up early: Rise and shine! If you’re not already a morning person, I want you to set your clock to wake up one hour earlier than usual. Give yourself extra time to ease into the day, plan ahead, and enjoy some quiet moments before the hustle and bustle begins. Studies show that waking up early can reduce your risk for depression and anxiety, improve your sleep quality, and improve your peak performance and productivity. Wake up naturally Invest in a sunrise alarm clock to allow your body to wake up naturally. Alarm clocks can jolt you from sleep and cause you to wake up stressed. Plus, if you ask me, it’s much more tempting to hit snooze! Stretch: Getting your blood flowing first thing can invigorate your body for the day and prepare you for the challenges ahead. Keep it simple. Set aside five minutes, and incorporate some simple somatic stretches right from the comfort of your own bed. Hydrate your body: Start your day off right by hydrating your body with a refreshing glass of water. This small habit will kickstart your metabolism, boost your energy levels, and promote overall well-being. I like to prepare my water the night before and leave it on the nightstand to make it easy to get my water in first thing. You might also consider drinking warm lemon water first thing each morning to improve digestion. NOURISH YOUR BODY: Eat a balanced breakfast: Fuel your body with a nutritious breakfast that includes a mix of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. Balancing your macronutrients will provide you with sustained energy and keep you feeling satisfied throughout the morning. Macros are short for the macronutrients that your body needs for fuel. Each macro plays an important role in your body. There are three main macros: Carbohydrates - the body’s main source of energy Proteins - essential nutrients for building and repairing muscles Fats - nutrients that protect your organs and keep your body warm When it comes to nutrition, one size does not fit all. You need to know exactly how to eat for your body with carbs, fat, and protein according to your height, age, weight, body type, previous dieting history, activity level, and goals. The best way to ensure that you are getting the right mix of nutrients while eating the foods you love is to have your macros calculated by a trained macro coach. Whether it's a motivational book, podcast, or inspiring quotes, surround yourself with messages that inspire and motivate you. As a busy mom, I love to listen to podcasts, or listen to books on audible on the go. Join us for the BodyByBree Podcast to learn about a variety of topics related to motherhood and wellness. Check out my podcast HERE! Set goals for the day: Start your day with intention by setting clear and achievable goals. This will give you a sense of purpose and direction, keeping you motivated and focused throughout the day. Choose your 1-3 goals to focus on! Remember, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Most of us fall off of our goals because we try to do too much to fast. Overwhelm leads to procrastination and inconsistency. Choose one or two of these habits to incorporate into your morning routine, and commit to it.
