Old abandoned houses tell a story. Even if the story is not documented in history, each abandoned home gives us a glimpse into a life once lived.
Explore #221 The second-oldest monastery in Prague, Strahov was founded high above Malá Strana in 1143 by Vladislav II. It's still home to Premonstratensian monks, a scholarly order closely related to the Jesuits, and their dormitories and refectory are off-limits. What draws visitors are the monastery's ornate libraries. Over the centuries, the monks have assembled one of the world's best collections of philosophical and theological texts, including illuminated (decorated with colored designs) manuscripts and first editions. There are more than 42 000 old prints. The rich wood-accented Philosophical Library's 14m-high (46-ft.) ceiling is decorated with a 1794 fresco entitled The Struggle of Mankind to Know Real Wisdom, by A. F. Maulpertsch, a Viennese master of rococo. Intricate woodwork frames the immense collection of books. View On Black

When we call a place home, instead of a house, we’re ascribing a sort of positive emotion to it. But on the flip side, a windowless, empty house can evoke melancholy, sad, and even spooky emotions as our brains wonder why the people left in the first place. Mortgage costs are boring, it must be ghosts.

History, although not always correct, is very important to our society. Without it, there would be no traditions to follow today, culture to appreciate, or memories of our ancestors that we can learn so much from.

TITLE: Old Green Door This photograph of an old world door and Italian architecture takes me back to the moments I've spent wandering around the cobblestone streets and canals of Venice, Italy. I love getting lost and discovering places like this with abundant charm and history. I wonder what stories this door has to tell! Imagine if it could talk. *NOTE: All of our prints are sold UNFRAMED and UNMATTED. Listing images with frames are examples of what you can do with a photo paper print. PRODUCTION & SHIPPING TIMES: Photo Prints: 5 days for printing, 5 days for shipping. Ready-to-Hang Canvas: 5 days for printing, 5 days for shipping. *See individual listings for exceptions. WHAT YOU ARE GETTING: There are 3 ways to print these images. 1) Premium Quality Professional Photographic Prints: These are UNFRAMED and UNMATTED. Mock-up images with frames are for reference only. All photos are printed with archival ink on professional photographic paper. They are designed to be placed in a glass frame, which can be purchased separately (starting at a few dollars at your local Target or online). 2) Ready To Hang Canvas: Our canvases are ready to hang right out of the box with zero assembly required. They have a gorgeous finished look and are ready to hang right out of the box, with a simple nail in the wall. Canvas Prints are a well-known, high-end way of displaying photographs. The canvas prints are stretched onto 1.5-inch thick wooden stretcher like how an oil painting is traditionally assembled. There are no staples or ugly lines visible on the sides (very important). 3) Ready to Hang Canvas (split into 3 panels): Using the same canvas printing technique mentioned above, the photograph is divided into 3 even canvas panels. The 3 separate canvas panels are hung together to make a single large image. This gives a modern look and allows spectacularly large sizes on your wall! All photographs in this shop are created by myself, using only the highest quality photo equipment, editing software, and printing materials. Copyright James Christopher Knight. Photography/artwork may not be reproduced or resold without the express written permission of the artist.
