It's June and I bet you've been seeing rainbows all over the place. Pride month is a colorful reminder to be more accepting and inclusive to all of the unique traits that make us all so different and special. I was impressed that my local Target had a whole pride section right when you walked in the door. I live in liberal California but I remember not so far back in 2008 when Prop 8 passed eliminating same sex marriage. Thankfully it has since been overturned but that was only eleven years ago. Mainstream society has come along way in recognizing LGBTQ rights but there is still a long way to go. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in gaining a deeper more nuanced understanding and empathy for the difficulties that transgender children and adults face.
