Hello my crafty friends Welcome to Karen Burniston's December 2019 Designer Challenge, where we were asked to make something using the brand new Surprise Ball Pop Up. Since some of the DT like to work ahead, Karen had also posted the Oct/Nov & December Challenges well ahead so when I was creating my cards for the Pear Blossom Press & Karen Burniston Blog Hop, I also made my December Designer Challenge Card. Yes - this is a Surprise Ball Pop Up that also LIGHTS UP! I'm so happy that I can finally share it with all of you. Before I get into the detail shots, here is a quick YouTube video so you can see all the details of my card. I chose a 6 x 6" patterned paper pad for my card rather than use one of the three patterned paper packages I challenged myself to stick to for my holiday cards. But this one had the feel I was going for, so I went with it. The paper has lovely copper foiled bits and I do love some sparkle and shine on my holiday cards! I also used the new Flap and Closure to hold the card in the closed position and added sparkly brads to the centre of the circles. The is the back of the card ... The ball on this card doesn't spin, to prevent the wires from twisting and possibly breaking. It just made sense to secure the bottom to keep everything in working order. I fussy cut two tags from a sheet of the patterned paper, and adhered them back to back catching the side of the flap at the top edge. The PUSH HERE stamped circle has a copper foil mat. Below is the card unlit ... ... and then lit. I punched out a couple of circles from the sides of the ball, and added a vellum panel in behind it so it would softly diffuse the LED lights from the EZ Lights Pack. There are two windows, and since the EZ Lights come with three wires/light bulbs, I adhered the third one on the base of the card to shine through the cracks in the ball. It's hard to see in the light I was taking the photos in, but I did take one in a darker room so you can get a better look. I hope you will check out the rest of the Design Team ... their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her project tomorrow (Wednesday) on her blog. Here’s my card for this week’s sketch challenge. I used the Simply Zinnia Dies to cut those pretty flowers and the Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder for the background layer.
You guys are going to LOVE this easy new fancy fold! It looks super complicated, but is just a couple of scores and one extra little piece. Here's how amazing it looks unfolded! isn't that just too cool? All you do is make an accordion on one side of the door, then add a little tent piece. Unlike a lot of fancy folds, this one gives you plenty of room to write in AND it stands up by itself, as well as fitting into a regular sized medium envelope. Bonus! Walk through the whole card with me, including measurements and...

Yesterday I shared the cards Judith made as our Team Artist of the Month and today I'm sharing more. She did a wonderful job highlighting the Magical Meadow bundle and the Winter Meadow designer paper. All of her cards have been fun folds; she does like to make fancy fold cards. This card features a center greeting layer that enfolds both front layers of her gatefold card. She left it removeable so the recipient can add it or leave it...
I loved the Ringed with Nature stamp set the first time I saw it in the July-Dec. mini catalog and still somehow I forgot to add it to my demonstrator preorder. I kept thinking that I would wait to get it whenever I needed to put another order in but then I couldn't wait that long! I ended up placing another preorder just to get it and a few packs of paper that I was low on. The justifications that I go through to order more stamps lol! I used this set to make an anniversary card last week. The little house and heart just seemed like the perfect images to celebrate. The coordinating dies and embossing folder, Tree Rings Hybrid embossing folder/dies, are really cool because you can emboss the tree rings and cut them out at the same time with on pass through the die cutter. It's a neat way to get a pile of the wood cuts all at once to use on multiple projects. The rest of the dies coordinate with the stamp set but don't actually cut out any of the images but the images are pretty straightforward if you want to fussy cut them like I did with the house and heart. After I stamped and die cut my pieces I layered them on top of a Crumb Cake wood cut and popped the heart on dimensionals. The little bit of DSP behind the sentiment comes from the Happy Forest Friends DSP and definitely looks like hearts to me but you might just see a knit pattern. Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? I made some Peekaboo Cards with a little twist to them. There’s an inside folded piece that the sentiment sits on to make it more of a fun fold design.

I CaSEd this card from Pinterest while on a girls weekend away and now I can't find the original for the life of me! So, if this card looks familiar to you, can you please send me a link to the original so I can update this post. I know I did make some changes to it, but I was mainly inspired by the stamped background....yes that is ONE stamp, stamped multiple times to make a background. The Country Home stamp set is photopolymer, so it wasn't too hard to do. I coloured this gorgeous image with my Blends, and cut it out, so I could pop it up on dimensionals. The sentiment is from Varied Vases. Thanks for visiting. I hope you're having a great day!
