Yay! I actually got to the Diva challenge on time this week! We were to use the tangle Groovy this week - a really fun tangle to use.... loved it! I was really happy with the tile that emerged from this week (from the blog post with the instructions, I was also inspired to use Sanibelle again - a bit of a revisit!). Sadly, I've had to take down my pattern "Starburst" because it's an already published pattern ("Hemp" in Totally Tangled). Thanks so much to Linda at tanglepatterns for entertaining it and to Karen Lynn for identifying it. I'll keep working on a new pattern to be submitted soon!
Baroque art came before Rococo art, and for those who are not very well acquainted with these genres, hopefully, this will help differentiate between the two. Both are exquisite kinds of art, and b…

LILYPADS may have been inspired by various photos I took in China of flowers in ponds. It does have a slightly Oriental look. Hmm... also thoughts of summer in this wintry Canadian almost-January :-) Under-lapping some of the leaves gives it more dimensionality. This could be shaded where all the lines converge, or on the under-lapping, or at the edge of the tangle. Here are a couple of tiles using this tangle: Lilypads, Th@, Barnacle, Coaster, Crescent Moon, Gingham, Keeko, Lotus Pods, Munchin, Snookums Oh yes, the tangle TH@ (pronounce it 'that'). I don't even know if I should take credit for a tangle pattern. Check out th@ second tile above. See the parallel bars going from top left to bottom right, interspersed with white bars with beads on threads? Check out th@ tangle. It's a whole bunch of @ signs at various angles!!! Hahaha! This is yet another brilliant idea that popped into my head one morning when I wasn't quite awake. How 'bout th@?!
In January, I started to use Carol Ohl`s Zentangle calendar and challenged me to draw each day a tangle which is new to me / which I never used yet. I already reported about this project in previous blogpots. Among others, I use Linda Farmers website "tanglepatterns.com" to explore the brand new tangles and most of them I draw immediately. During the last month I especially like Spoolies, Puffy 8s, Soluna, Knightspeek, Wibble ... I have them all in my calendar. The day before yesterday I found the new tangle by Belgian CZT Ria Mattheussen, ZIMBA. I drew it the same evening and fell in love with it and with the pattern which inspired Ria for her tangle. So I played a bit around and tried some variations. At the end I found , that in my opinion I developed a new tangle!! I did not even think about it… I contacted Ria by E-Mail and showed her my idea. I told her that I would like to name the tangle „SIRI“. This are the first letters of our names Simone and Ria. Ria was excited as well and gave me the courage to draw a stepout of „SIRI“ and to publish it. Here it is: And here is the lat page of three days in my calendar , with the first try of Zimba and SIRI, competed today with Gottago by Lianne Woods.
