Ernst Fuchs - Christus vor Pilatus Vienna School of Fantastic Realism
Rudolf Hausner (Vienna, December 4, 1914 – February 25, 1995) was an Austrian painter, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. He came into conflict with the Surrealist orthodoxy, who condemned as heretical his attempt to give equal importance to both conscious and unconscious processes. In 1959 he co-founded the Vienna School of Fantastic realism together with his old surrealism group members: Ernst Fuchs, Wolfgang Hutter, Anton Lehmden, Arik Brauer, and Fritz Janschka. gandalfsgalleymodern.blogspot.com/2011/08/rudolf-hausner-...
Painting is like silent poem, said Simonides, poet from ancient Greece.Paintings are icons, doors to the Platonian world above the heavens.
1964 Arik Brauer Poster, Watercolours, Aquarelles, Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, amazing condition, Austrian painter, wall art decor This is a 1964 poster of Arik Brauer watercolours exhibition from his detailed realism for an exhibition in Paris at the Galerie Karl Flinker. This poster is in amazing condition for its age and has been stored flat. Psychedalic for a watercolour. Dimensions: 20 in x 20 in (51 cm x 51 cm) Arik Brauer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from age 16, and from 1947 also singing. Brauer was a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Called an Universalkünstler (all-round artist) in Austria, his art was exhibited at international galleries and museums, and especially at major museums in Vienna. The Vienna School of Fantastic Realism (Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus) includes Ernst Fuchs, Arik Brauer, Wolfgang Hutter and Anton Lehmden, all students of Professor Albert Paris Gütersloh at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts where also Zeev Kun studied in Gütersloh's class. It was Gütersloh's emphasis on the techniques of the Old Masters that gave the fantastic realist painters a grounding in realism (expressed with a clarity and detail some have compared to early Flemish painting) combined with religious and esoteric symbolism. What is special about exhibition and gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters and their history, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The posters are traditionally folded up and with their age are creased. The good news is that when framed, the creases and tears press up well against glass, and any rough edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ for more information on shipping, tracking and insurance options.
My drawing as a tribute to the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. About it's background and history. The question remains: What does it all mean? While I had set out to make this a tribute to the Vienna School, the subtitle S nakes and Ladders also alludes to the Game of Life.
1972 Helmut Leherb Poster, I like Mozart, Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, Surrealism, wall art decor This is a beautiful original 1970s design poster in blue, white and peach from the 1971/2 designs which Maître Leherb created for the national tourist board. It says, Austria in German, French and English, "Austria, Osterreich, Autriche" and shows an unlikely fantastic realism of what Mozart would look like if he were riding a motorcycle. "I like Mozart" The print on the back of the poster states that these copies were printed for the Austrian Government and are not for sale. Printed in Austria Dimensions: 33 in x 23.5 in (84 cm x 60 cm) Helmut Leherb was an Austrian artist and representative of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, which is close to Surrealism. In 1971 / 1972, Leherb was commissioned by the later "Österreich Werbung" (Austrian National Tourist Office "ANTO") (then still Österreichische Fremdenverkehrswerbung, ÖFVW) to design four posters. The posters "I like Mozart", "A girl playing her cello on a cloud", "Island of Longing" and "A lady with a Lipizzaner" were created. The then chairman of the ÖFVW, Trade Minister Josef Staribacher, staged the launch of the new series with publicity: he set the printing press in motion himself. The posters were quickly sold out. When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ for more information on shipping, tracking and insurance options.
