Los Angeles-based artist and actor Joseph Lee (previously) brushes and smudges thick globs of oil paint to create multi-colored portraits. Vibrant layers of segmented brushstrokes focus on the emotion of human faces rather than their physicality, with facial features partially or entirely obscured from view. Lee began painting as a way to channel his creativity after a failed acting audition. “After working on a long project, I needed to protect my energy and be selfish with my time,” he told Shape/Shift Report. About The Artwork Scars Are Proof Of Victory In the world of contemporary art, few artists capture the essence of victory and resilience as Kris Gebhardt does. His portfolio, filled with large-scale paintings, serves as a testament to overcoming adversity and emerging triumphant. Each distressed canvas tells a story of battles fought and won, appealing to those who have faced the odds in various domains of life. In fact, if you own a Gebhardt painting, chances are you beat the odds and succeeded as an entrepreneur, athlete, business owner, or movie producer. You have battled your way through the turbulent pursuit of success and won. Gebhardt's distinctive style revolves around gritty and layered techniques that emanate a battle-torn allure. Through his portrayal of figures on unconventional surfaces, he accentuates the inherent struggle and unwavering resilience required to persevere when faced with overwhelming obstacles. Cardboard, tattered tarps, and dismantled crates become the canvas for his creations, materials that are unorthodox yet potent in their honest rawness. Clearly evident, one can discern the scars and imperfections etched onto the varied canvases. These scars, rather than detracting from the art, become the art and serve as reminders that success often comes hand in hand with challenges, and that scars are not to be hidden but rather embraced as proof of one's journey towards triumph. In a world that often glorifies perfection, Gebhardt's work is a refreshing departure. His art invites viewers to reflect on their own struggles, find inspiration in their stories, and celebrate the victories that arise from perseverance. Scars are indeed proof of victory because you're still standing! mixed media on hand-wrapped distressed canvas Original Created:2023 Subjects:Abstract Materials:Canvas Styles:AbstractAbstract ExpressionismContemporaryFigurativeFine Art Mediums:AcrylicOilGesso Details & Dimensions Painting:Acrylic on Canvas Original:One-of-a-kind Artwork Size:49 W x 89 H x 1.5 D in Frame:Not Framed Ready to Hang:Yes Packaging:Ships in a Crate Shipping & Returns Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments. About The Artwork Gebhardt Egos, competition, unsolicited opinions — two artists under one roof, how is that possible? Decades of life lessons and experiences are visually rendered by husband and wife, large-format, mixed-media artists — peacefully. Kris and Angela Gebhardt’s pieces don’t just hang on walls, they dominate spaces. These artists make declarations that stop individuals and start conversations. The Gebhardts don’t collaborate and rarely share opinions about projects in progress, or otherwise. While they both use a variety of the same materials to create their art, what they produce is distinctly different from each other, and their peers. Hers Only Angela knows what truly stimulates her creativity. She expresses emotions in colors and shapes that hush, delight and excite. They are pretty and pleasing. Every stroke of paint, letter or note is organized until perfect. Images, numbers and words are tattooed and layered in acrylic, charcoal, oil, chalk, graphite, paper and more — to form her “auto-paint-ographies” — telling a story that will remain forever hers. Angela’s intensely personal style attracts patrons from around the world. They know her pain and sadness. Revel in her joy. Bask in her warmth. His Kris’ efforts are gritty — both literally and figuratively — gray and layered, his subjects are centrally placed over a finessed background. Early on he would engineer what was available on which to create — thus forming his style. Beat up surface is home to a beat down subject with distressed frame. Used cardboard, worn and tattered tarps stapled to one-by-fours, boxes and dismantled furniture are just a few of the starting points for a Kris Gebhardt “paintumentary.” Each the story of an actual person, the archetype of a being or Kris himself. His inspiration comes from the Greatest Generation, friends, employers and his own pre-artistic career. Gebhardt is proficient at portraying Every Man and his struggles. Theirs Whether you own an Angela Gebhardt, a Kris Gebhardt or one (or more) of each, undoubtedly, their unique individual styles have touched you. In their inventory, you will find a library of her serene-scapes and congregation of his salty-characters, heroes, villains, animals, and influences. Where Large-format, mixed-media Gebhardt paintings are at home in * private collections around the world * stylish luxury homes * contemporary high rise lobbies * corporate art collections * block buster movie sets and any environment that needs to make a high-impact visual statement. Covid What to do when the art shows are canceled, the airlines are shut down, restaurants aren’t accepting diners and collectors are in the market? Load a tour bus with large paintings, and hit the road. It stands to reason that artists with a rock-n-roll attitude would find a way to take art to the people, the same way musicians take music to their fans. Kris and Angela repeatedly find ways to be very hands on, even in touch-less times. About The Artwork I got inspired by the music 'Chaconne E-Minor', by J.S. Bach. Whenever I listen the music, I feel deeply sad and at the same time feel beauty and death. I tried to express my inner sense of emotional feeling using oil on canvas.
