There are so, SO many great books to choose from. Even if you have a specific genre you prefer, picking a book to read next can be overwhelming. The worst bit? So many good books to read but so little time to relish them all. As with many fun activities you want to do in life, so with books, you must prioritize which ones to read first.
(木霊 or 木魂?) are spirits in Japanese folklore that inhabit trees, similar to the dryads of Greek mythology. The term is also used to denote a tree in which a kodama supposedly resides. The phenomenon...
People belonging to a narcissistic family tree end up having hugely dysfunctional and traumatic childhoods, which haunts them even when they become adults.
As some of you may know, I had somewhat of a “deprived” childhood. I’ve never seen Bambi, Winnie the Pooh, Sesame Street, or a whole assortment of commonplace children’s shows and movies. I’ve never been to any zoo. And I don’t remember ever eating a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich before the age of 15....
This blog post was copied with kind permission from Dyana Garza Levin of the Copal Store in San Jose del Cabo. I thank her for compiling information in a way that is easy to understand and comprehensive! I’ve taken the liberty of editing it very slightly and adding a few links but the structure and important points are Dyana’s. “A Mexican Tree of Life is a hand coiled pottery sculpture depicting the biblical Tree of Life: traditionally the tree sculpture would include Adam and Eve with the tempting Serpent, but the themes have evolved over time and today it is common to find Trees of Life conveying subject matter such as Day of the Dead and the Folk Art of Mexico.

See, trees have knots, and the cat is on, or in, one. The fact that it’s a standard overhand knot is just plain weird. We don’t know the provenance of this picture, as it has been shared on Pinterest more than anywhere else. The caption style makes it appear to be quite old. But isn’t it a delight? -via Arbroath...

"Against Forgetting" is a fine art print of an original piece by Nina Montenegro. A wax rubbing of a tree stump is adjacent to an inked fingerprint. This piece has been featured in Orion Magazine, Camas Magazine, and High Country News. Artist Statement: I encountered an enormous stump on Orcas Island (likely a Doug Fir) and tenderly took a rubbing with wax crayon. I had always marveled at the similarity between the rings of a tree and the rings of our human fingerprints, but I was shocked to see the rings actually align when I took an inked fingerprint and enlarged it to the scale of the tree rings. What resulted was a harmonious depiction of humanity's kinship (and belonging) with nature. Dimensions are 10" x 10", 14" x 14", or 20" x 20". Open edition, titled and signed. Printed digitally on archival paper with matte finish. Background is printed color, not the paper color. Unframed print. --------------------------------------- 10"x10" and 14”x 14" will ship in a protective, sturdy flat. 20" x 20" will be shipped in a big, sturdy tube. Visit www.ninamontenegro.com for more details on the series this piece belongs to. All designs © Nina & Sonya Montenegro Reproduction rights do not transfer with sale of items.

Hello again, Tonight, I am pleased to share with you my latest personal project - "Elvish Trees", in which I was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth Elf culture. For stylistic reference I looked at the illustrations in The Lord of The Rings novels but created my own original designs which I could imagine to be on things like banners of the different elvish families. I started out, as usual, with pencil sketches. Then, I finessed each sketch in Adobe Illustrator and established my colour palettes. After which, I brought the rendered trees into Photoshop to add some texture effects. Alda “Alda”, in Quenya meaning "tree" Ornë Ornë in Quenya meaning 'slender tree' Lûth Galadh “Lûth Galadh”, in Sindarin meaning "Spell-Tree" Prints can be found on my Society6 and RedBubble shops. More merchandise will be made available in the following weeks. That's it for now. :)
