Curtiss C-46A-50-CU (cn 30532) Built as 42-101077 for the USAAF and transfered to the USN as BuNo 39573 in September, 1944. Seen here stored at FRA circa 1970, it was later bought by Joanne Fashions and destroyed in a crash near Barrancabermeja, Columbia on February 21, 1973 attempting an emrgency landing after an engine failure. Scanned from an original 35mm slide in my collection and not my shot.

München-Riem July 1980 G-BGTU BAC 111-409AY 108 Turbo-Union Information from airhistory.net - thanks to Gary Vincent: First flight for this BAC 111 was March 6, 1967 with delivery to LACSA Costa Rica as TI-1056C the following month. Sold to TACA International as YS-01C on April 11, 1973. It was bought by Turbo Union February 16, 1979 and a large forward cargo door was added. Operated by the Rolls-Royce Flying Unit on behalf of Turbo-Union, transporting engines and personnel (in the 39 seat aft cabin) for the Panavia Tornado program. Bought by Nationwide Air Charter and registered ZS-NNM by April 5 1994, the aircraft was stored at Lanseria, South Africa and broken up in 2005. Replacing an earlier scanned photo with a better version 28-Oct-18. Tied down to concrete filled barrels so obviously hadn't been anywhere for quite a while... Delivered to Aeroflot as CCCP-86723 in 1977, this aircraft was re-registered RA-86723 when the Soviet Union became the Russian Federation. It was sold to Express International Cargo (Sao Tome) as S9-BOM (date unknown) and later re-registered 3C-QQD (Ecuatorial Guinea). It was sold to Avient Air Zimbabwe as Z-WTV (date unknown) and was permanently retired at Fujairah (UAE) in 2010.
Douglas C-54A Skymaster (DC-4) (cn 10403) Seen under tow at MIA in April, 1973. With the next operator, Taxi Aéreo El Venado, it crashed in the mountains in Columbia on June 30, 1975,with the cause unknown.

The aircraft was again seen here on 12 June 1980 as 5A-DGE with United African Airlines still wearing the Transvalair cheatline. Survived derelict at Tripoli until the mid 2000s as one of the last CL-44 airframes but then disappeared.
