Good morning! Heather here stopping by this morning to share a new Color Combo Challenge with you! With all the birthday challenges and festivities on the Winnie and Walter Blog in February - we ended up taking a break for that month on the Color Challenge - so it is great to be back at it again this month! So for this month, with all the wonderful rainbow of new Catherine Pooler Inks in the Winnie and Walter Store - I decided to go with a rainbow challenge! Here is my color inspiration for this month - instead of a specific list of colors, I fell in love with the rainbow of these bright bottles! So pretty! {image credit} I used the row of tiny hearts in the fun new Scenery: Seeing Hearts Stamp Set to create my rainbow heart border. I used a panel of white cardstock to stamp using nearly all the colors of Catherine Pooler Inks carried in the Winnie and Walter Store. Here is the order of colors from top to bottom: Party Dress, Rockin' Red, Orange Twist, Tiara, Grass Skirt, Lime Rickey, Fiesta Blue, Something Borrowed, and Flirty Fuchsia. I adhered that strip at an angle on the front of a white cardbase, trimming the extra off the sides. Finished off by adding the new In a Phrase: Hugs and Kisses sentiment die cut from dark gray cardstock. Now - I have a few favorites from the last Color Challenge to feature! The entries this month were STUNNING! First up - these two cards by Rosali - WOW! The colors and layout on these is SOOO gorgeous! Great work! Next up, LOVE this soft and sweet creation by Maryam! Such a lovely card with the gorgeous stamping of the strawberries, and the hidden sentiment. Beautiful! Then we have this stunning creation from Pooja - love the fun layout, gorgeous watercolors, and the circle of gold with the lace from the doily! SOOOO very pretty! And then this SWEET little CAS card from Trina P - I just can't get enough of this adorable little penguin, and could the sentiment on this be ANY more PERFECT?!?!?!? SO sweet! And finally, how beautiful is this card by Andrea?!?!? I ADORE how she gold heat embossed that lovely image on the acetate for a shaker card! So elegant and lovely!!! >>>RANDOMLY CHOSEN WINNERS<<< No. 23 | Karen Ladd Karen entered with this dainty and tea-rrific ATC! Really love the addition of the woodgrain and grid in the background. And since we had so many gorgeous, colorful entries (and because I just feel like it and one the perks of being the boss at w&w is I can do these things on a whim!) I randomly chose one of the Heather's favorite cards featured above to also win as well! No. 10 | Andrea Shell Andrea's card is so classy and beautiful! I love gold embossing on acetate to create a very lovely shaker. Karen and Andrea, please email us at info {at} winniewalter {dot} com with the subject "January Color Combo Challenge Winner" to claim your prize. >>>CHALLENGE<<< New challenge will post on the second Monday of each Month, and will end on the Friday before the next challenge begins to allow time to pick a winner and some favorite entries to feature. Sardinia’s main attraction is its beautiful coastline and well-organized resorts, which attract the rich and famous from all over Europe. But there’s more than that to Sardinia, including archeological traces of its first endemic civilization, fine Romanesque churches built during the Pisan occupancy, a string of fortresses erected by the Genoans and towns that are […]

Green is the color of nature. It comes in so many different hues… from deep emerald jewel tones, to blue-green teals, to leafy tones, to olive drab, to sage, mint, and on and on. It’s restful and retentive. Green is definitely one of my favorite colors.
In looking for botanical inspiration for my new book, I stumbled across this beautiful photo online by photographer, Steve Stenzel. I love this photo for so many reasons but I especially am impressed by how it represents the life cycle of this particular plant. From the new growth of spring all the way to the end of autumn. I am so drawn to this natural color palette. So much so in fact.. that I showed this picture to the ladies of Spincycle Yarns and they used it in creating a special new colorway just for me. And they did such a phenomenal job! This beautiful yarn perfectly captures the colors of changing leaves. The way that the colors subtly change from one to the next perfectly expresses this idea of the natural life cycle of spring to autumn. I am not usually one to go for multi-colored yarn.. but this one I love. With this yarn I created my "Life Cycle" scarf design. This is an accent scarf consisting of a string of big leaves.. one growing out of the next. It works so perfectly with this yarn and I am so happy with it. This scarf pattern will be included in my upcoming book, Botanical Knits 2. The scarf pattern will call for 2 skeins of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool yarn. This special colorway is called "End of Summer" and is available HERE.
