Architecture, history, and archeology lovers, you’re in for a treat! One man’s passion for architecture helped develop a massive community of like-minded people. Welcome to the ‘Lost Architecture’ project, a cozy niche on Reddit carved out by architectural historian Tom Ravenscroft.
These stilted sea forts were designed to defend Britain against WWII invaders. Situated 10 miles offshore, the forts are now abandoned save for one which has become the Principality of Sealand. An independent sovereign state since 1967, it boasts its own constitution and hereditary royal rulers. You don’t have to be crazy to live there but it probably helps.

As part of his upcoming book North Philidelphia, photographer Daniel Traub hones in on a particularly moving piece of the urban landscape of inner city Philadelphia: the forgotten lots left behind by leveled houses. In a difficult economic climate, a large number of houses are deemed beyond repair and are ultimately replaced with hauntingly empty spaces, piled with trash or overgrown by nature.
In his ongoing series titled Thin Places, Portland-based photographer Brendon Burton documents battered houses that stand alone in barren fields, amidst an encroaching marsh, or at the edge of the mountain.
