I started working monthly for Los Angeles magazine in 2011, illustrating Steve Erickson's column about TV and film. In the beginning I was asked to do black and white portraits that would incorporate one or two colours where appropriate. AD Steven Banks.

In 2003 I was hired by then art director Carolyn Roberts to draw weekly illustrations for the cover of the culture supplement of the Independent on Sunday. For 13 years, ending with the print publication of the newspaper in 2016, I did these weekly covers, learning how to handle most faces and compositions, working with some of the best professionals in the business. It was a career defining work, and it shaped my style and way of handling assignments. Over the years staff would come and go, and I'm grateful to all of the people who always supported me and made me feel at home, specially ADs Carolyn Roberts, Colin Wilson, Sarah Morley and editor Lisa Markwell.
