About The Artwork My medium is the paper. All of my works are unique and handmade. I work in a classical manner, with a sharp blade, scissors and glue. The artwork is composed of many different paper fragments an is from the series "MEGAURBANPOLIS". The Papercollage shows the density and mobility of big cities. The city is the place of longing and danger, opportunity and threat. Life in the city can overwhelm with anonymity and indifference and hang over one's head like a sword of Damocles. There are many reasons why people move to cities. Often they hope for better living conditions and individual freedom. In my work, recycling old materials, sustainability and collecting long-forgotten images also play an important role, which I bring back to light by incorporating them into a new context. The artwork is signed and dated. You will receive a signed Certificate of Authenticity. About The Artwork Combining several hand-cut pieces of Brutalist architecture, to form a new, magnificent building that exists only in this image. Taking care to line up images in such a way as it just might be possible to construct, in an alternate world. A woman has paused to look back at the concrete mass. I hope the viewers will admire the architecture with a puzzled interest of how the building can exist. As always, an element of humour is in place in my works. This piece was conceived and created as part of a monochrome architectural pair with BRUTALIST VISION I, but of course can be purchased separately. Both artworks have been sprayed with a gallery-quality archival matt spray for protection, and is ready to hang in a black wood floating frame. A unique laboratory in the world, Studio Marianne Guély uses its know-how to express its inspiration with agility, finding the right balance between innovation and tradition.Based on its paper expertise, Studio Marianne Guély has built a constantly evolving ecosystem, around which the new elements discovered by Marianne Guély and her collaborators are constantly being added.A continuous and conscientiously documented experimentation, enriched by the many transversal collaborations whose imprint also constitutes the culture of Studio Marianne Guély.
It’s daunting to witness the labor poured into a 365-day creative project, be it taking a daily photo, doing a quick sketch, or even writing a few lines. Edinburgh-based artist Charles Young (previously) gets particularly high marks for completing his daily paper model project that he started a year ago today as a way to explore design, architecture, and model building. Every single one of his 365 models was designed, cut, and assembled daily using 220gsm watercolor paper and PVA glue, with many of the structures incorporating moving components that Young photographed to create quick animations.
