Jo Rodgers puts together the perfect itinerary for the art enthusiast with a long weekend to spend in the capital
About The Artwork This painting is a part of the "An Afternoon at the Museum" series. The series features a slice of life, a "moment" in a museum. This painting is based on my first-hand experience after spending hours at the National Gallery in front of the The Fighting Temeraire by J.M.W Turner. People visit the art gallery for various reasons, some for the love of an artists while others for the famous art pieces. Some people visit for inspiration, while others come for people watching. Hours spent in these galleries have inspired me to capture these moments. Oil painting on canvas is one of the great classic media, it has been used by some of the greatest painters for hundreds of years and have stood the test of time with great durability and steadfast color. At an early stage Munch was recognized in Germany and central Europe as one of the creators of a new epoch. Munch’s art from the 1890s is the most well known, but his later work is steadily attracting greater attention. For full biographical notes on Munch see Edvard Munch part 1- introduction. He has a page for his photography on Facebook, but hasn't posted anything for almost four years. It says there that he was born in 1992, and most of his images seem to be dated circa 2011-13.
