Girl with a Pearl Earring Item # 1937622 Johannes Vermeer While Johannes Vermeer is best known for The Girl With The Pearl Earring, this Dutch master produced several beloved pieces during his short life. Johannes Vermeer wall art allows you to bring a sense of harmony to the walls of any space. Characteristics of Johannes Vermeer wall art Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) was a Dutch Baroque painter. Born in Delft, in southern Holland, although he was relatively unknown in his time. Art historians suggest he painted around 45 pieces in total, of which only 36 survive today. Vermeer worked within the walled city of Delft and sold paintings to local patrons and nobility. However, it was not until the 19th century that he achieved wider recognition. His paintings typically focused on domestic interiors, with subjects including scenes of everyday life, such as reading, playing instruments, or performing housekeeping tasks. However, there is little ordinary or everyday about his technique. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Vermeer's work is his use of light. He often used a single source of light balanced against dark shadows to achieve an incredible sense of realism within his work. When added to the meticulous details and perspective in his painting, his works have an intimate and almost photographic quality. While Vermeer often used a limited color palette, he chose rich hues with a deep sense of compatibility. The result was compositions with an incredible balance that added to his masterful use of light, which partly explains his present-day popularity. How to choose Johannes Vermeer art for your space Classical art, such as the work of 17th-century painters like Johannes Vermeer, can work well with a wide range of decor styles. These pieces are a must-have for fans of Vermeer's exquisite technique and fine details and anyone who wants to bring a sense of order to their walls. While homes with classic or traditional decor styles are complementary spaces for classical works, you don't need to oversubscribe to conventions. Indeed, with the right frame or considerate adherence to color, Johannes Vermeer wall art can sit well within modern and contemporary design styles. Vermeer's use of luminous color and contrasting shade give his work a special harmony. Delicate, detailed, and painstakingly composed, a Vermeer canvas has maturity, realism, and order that is hard to find. Representing these qualities on your walls can help evoke an atmosphere that goes beyond masterful painting techniques. There's something about classical art that just turns me off. Endless portraits of pale and plump aristocrats looking all fancy in the classical paintings, bucolic rural scenes, religious iconography... I can certainly appreciate the skill and relevance back in the pre-photography age, but these days we need a message!

About Roman school late 17th - early 18th century - Follower of Niccolò Codazzi (Naples, 1642 - Genoa, 1693) Pair of fantastic architectural whims with classical ruins and figures Oils on canvas, cm. 47 x 60, framed cm. 85 x 68 A suggestive perspective of classical architectural ruins dominates the scene in this beautiful pair of capricci, whose style characteristics appear to be influenced by the models designed by Viviano (1604 - 1670) and his son Niccolò Codazzi (1642-1693), who collaborated in the atelier paternal in Rome before pursuing an independent career. The present pendant, in particular, is the work of an author active between the end of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, very similar to the ways of Niccolò Codazzi in the central period of his Roman production, when he used to collaborate with some bamboccianti, who usually inserted small contour figures to animate the whims. After his youth in Naples and the activity in his father's workshop, Niccolò Codazzi, with his works from the Roman period, began to develop an independent artistic personality, and the present painting represents an excellent model of this process. In his architectural views and inventions he prefers a clear and luminous palette, marked by deep chiaroscuro contrasts and a decisive volumetric rendering. As for the composition, on the other hand, it reproduces the Roman ruins with a faithful analysis, or, if built with imagination, they always had to be based on a level of verisimilitude, with the light that exposed the monumental architectures in ruins, the crumbling arches , the corroded walls, leaning against ancient monuments now invaded by vegetation. Both the canvases and the frames are in good condition, with some signs of aging. The pictorial material is preserved in an excellent way.
