In this blog post, we're going to take a look at a Mabon Tarot spread. This is a time to give thanks for all that we have harvested throughout the year.
Blessings,Angie
I have a small confession to make. When I began my shoot of today's post, there were originally five tarts there in that photo up above. Amazingly somehow, now there are four. The temptation was rea

The Pillsbury Harvest Time Cook Book printed in 1980 has been one of my favorite of the Pillsbury booklets. As you can see, my copy is quite worn. It has a nice selection of recipes. Ranging from Family meals to Fall Baking, Harvest Foods, recipes using fall fruits and vegetables to Lunchbox and after school snacks. There is something for everyone in here. I have seen this book at several book sales so keep a eye out for it. Sue and I have made several different recipes from it and maybe we will inspire you to try some of them, listed below. Chicken Vegetable Stew Refrigerator Cucumber Pickles Carrot Bread Oriental Green Beans Quick Crescent Cinnamon Crispies

Traditionally observed at the beginning of August, Lughnasadh / Lammas marks the beginning of the harvest time. The culmination of a year of ploughing, sowing, weeding and tending the crops, at the mercy of the elements — now is the time for feasting and giving thanks before the back-breakingly hard work of bringing in the harvest would begin. Before the advent of modern agricultural machinery the whole village would have worked together to scythe the wheat, gather the sheaves into stooks, then load them onto carts to bring into barns where the process of threshing and winnowing would begin. Technical: a few non-photographic issues to deal with — firstly bake a loaf of bread! Wheat and cornflowers to be gathered and a sickle needed to be procured (a scythe would have been a bit too big)! Fairly simple to photograph — the single hardest part is always getting the camera angle and height perfect both aesthetically and to actually fit everything in...
Until today, the Nebra Sky Disk was known as the oldest concrete depiction of cosmic phenomena worldwide. Scholars believed it was a 3,600-year-old artifact depicting a sun or full moon, a lunar crescent, and stars – usually said to be the Pleiades.

As we are in the middle of the harvest-related holidays and are getting ready for winter, it seemed a great time to finally sit down and write a simple ritual for Freyr. Freyr is a great God who is often honored at several autumnal holidays, such as Frexfaxi, Winternights, and Yule, but I have not come across a good, year-round ritual that can be used to honor him. He’s a great God and he really deserves a lot more press than he currently gets. (Though since as he is one of my patrons, I’ll admit I’m a bit biased).
The lessons of the harvest offer lessons for life. There is a need for one to clear the land and till the soil, to form the furrows and in the right season plant the seed. Just as vital is the role of one to tend... Read More ›

The Fall Equinox and the Folk Holiday, Mabon is a time of year to give thanks for the harvest and prepare for the coming winter. Visiting Wine Harvest Festivals and gathering apples at your local apple orchard are great ways to celebrate this holiday and special time of year with your loved ones without having an extensive sit down ritual. Apple Orchards have always been special to me this time of year, visiting them for the equinox has always been a standing tradition in our family.
Lammas, or Lughnasadh, falls at the beginning of the harvest season. Learn about traditions and rituals for celebrating this early harvest holiday.
