Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I had a busy but fun weekend. I work at a local library and helped put on a Mother’s Day Soap Making Class on Saturday which was a lot of fun. Nothing better than getting to craft at work! Then my 10 month old grandson, Jack, had a sleep over at Nanny and Pop Pop’s house on Saturday night. There wasn’t much sleeping but any time spent… Continue reading
A Duo of Birthday Cards by April Guest Designer Mugdha Gujarathi
On this class you will see how easy it is to use the Beautiful Balloons bundle from Stampin' Up! to make all sorts of celebration cards!
Now that we've showcased all the new In Colors from Stampin' Up!, we'll spend a bit of time focussing on the four new Core Colours in the range. First up is Azure Afternoon, a bright blue that I have had a couple of false starts with - really didn't think I liked it, but I have done a complete about-face! Once I decided on this gorgeous colour combination, everything came together easily on my card. The Beautiful Balloons bundle and Wanted To Say Dies feature on my card. I've managed to use four other die sets ... who was it who claimed to her husband, all those years ago, that making her own cards would save money?! 😂 I cut the balloon from Azure Afternoon card, and sponged Azure Afternoon ink around the edges after stamping the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink. The long garland stamp from Beautiful Balloons was used to create my background. I stamped it on Basic White card, using Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel inks. After cutting the stamped piece out using a Scalloped Contours Die, I adhered it to a Radiating Stitches Die-Cut panel cut from Azure Afternoon card. The "Celebrate" was cut from Azure Afternoon and Basic White card, using one of the numerous dies from the fabulous Wanted To Say Die set. I popped up the balloon and this die-cut sentiment on Stampin' Dimensionals. Using the smaller of the two star dies from Beautiful Balloons, I cut one star from each of the three colours of card. I embossed them with a Basics 3D embossing folder, and sponged around the edges of each star with ink matched to the cardstock colour. The gorgeous Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel shiny embellishments are from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack. Because the largest of the Radiating Stitches Dies is designed to fit a US-sized card, it doesn't quite extend to the size of our A5 cards in Australia/NZ. I added a couple of die-cut pieces of card to create a bit of trim to the bottom of the Radiating Stitches piece. The Lemon-Lime Twist piece of card was cut with a Deckled Rectangles Die, and the Blueberry Bushel loopy details were cut from part of a Scalloped Contours frame die. Hello stampers. I'm very excited to share one of the new bundles from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, Beautiful Balloons. This versatile bundle can be used for a range of themes and celebrations. I have used a combination of dies and stamps, as well as the co ordinating DSP Bright and Beautiful, to make these cards. The first card features one of the returning colours, Berry Burst, with highlights of Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia. The background DSP is a piece from the Bright and Beautiful paper pack. The next card uses a couple of the new blues in the colour range. The blues are Misty Moonlight and Azure Afternoon and are both in the Bright and Beautiful paper pack. Again a couple of strips of Bright and Beautiful are behind the main image. The black and gold card uses one of the Beautiful Balloon dies and the streamer stamp from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set. A couple of the balloons were cut from discontinued Silver and Gold DSP and sponged black with Memento Black ink and a Sponge Dauber. The top balloon was stamped with the balloon stamp then heat embossed with gold emboss powder. The last two gold balloons are cut from Distressed Gold Paper and Gold Foil Paper. I added the balloon strings with a Black Marker. The last card has balloons stamped in Lemon Lime Twist, Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath, Azure Afternoon and Fresh Freesia. Once again the colours co ordinated with a piece of Bright and Beautiful DSP and some Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon. I hope I have inspired you to have a play with this wonderful set. Come back soon for more new catalogue ideas. If you live in Melbourne you are very welcome to join my catalogue launch on the 6th of May, contact me for more details. Thanks for visiting, Rachel

Hello everyone, Firstly I apologise that I may not have a card to post every day over the next 2 weeks as I am away. I was hoping to get enough cards made before leaving but ran out of time. As you probably know the new catalogue is now available so I am using the Beautiful Balloons Bundle (#161457) on this card. I made this card before the end of the previous catalogue so I have used 2 of the now retired products. I stamped the ribbons for the balloons onto the Basic White card front (#159228) with Bubble Bath ink (#161664). I dry embossed the card front with the spots from the Basic 3D Embossing Folders (#161598). The edges were daubered with Gorgeous Grape ink (# 147099) then attached it to the Basic White base card. The Gold Fine Shimmmer paper (which is now retired) was cut with a die from the Beautiful Balloons Dies (#161456). I threaded the Gorgeous Grape ribbon (sorry, also retired) through the die cut piece. This was attached to the card front. The balloons from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set were stamped with Bubble Bath ink, Highland Heather ink (#147103) and Gorgeous Grape ink. For the larger balloon and using VersaMark (#102283), I then stamped it with a different image and embossed this with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (#155555). This was set with the Heat Tool (#129056). The balloons were cut with the Beautiful Balloons dies. The label is cut from the same set of dies, then I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set with Gorgeous Grape ink. The balloons and the sentiment were attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430). The Gold Simply Elegant Trim (#155766) was threaded through the label. “Love what you do and share what you love.” INSPIRE. CREATE. SHARE. lesleyjendra.stampinup.net [email protected]

I couldn't resist but have a second play with the May SU! Colour Challenge which is Black and White with A Pop of one of the 22-24 In Colours. My POP colour is Parakeet Party and I paired with the Beautiful Balloons Stamp Set. I simply stamped the balloons using Parakeet Party and Memento Tuxedo Black Inks. I double stamped the sentiment in both colours to give it an extra pop. I finished the card with a few Classic Matte Dots. Hello Peeps !!! Happy Friday !!! This Beautiful Balloons stamp set and Biggest Wish stamp set make a good pair. I started with an embossed background, a strip of Lemon Lime Twist die cut then using the Countryside die. The 2 balloons were stamped and die cut, the other one was die cut using a designer paper. I used Misty Moonlight and lemon Lime twist for the sentiment and added the rhinestones and baker's twine. Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by. I was planning on making my card for the Less is More challenge this week where the challenge is to mask or stencil, but didn't feel my card was clean and simple enough for the challenge...so will try again with another card. This card, like the last card I posted, wasTarget inspired...this time by a gift bag... I used a Simon Says Stamp AND Penny Black balloon dies. I die cut each color twice and layered for depth. The background is made from sponging with a diy stencil made with a Papertrey Ink Chevron die and a piece of acetate(although the pic I'm showing is when I thought of making the card the "long" way instead of the tall way. I made a second stencil that was die cut just like the die, for my card...just showing you what the acetate will look like)... I added floss to each balloon and added an Avery Elle sentiment stamped with versamark/white embossed on vellum wrapped around the card and some enamel dots. Hope you have a great weekend!! Hugs!! I was recently directed to a blog titled Valita's Fresh Folds. She has a cute balloon card she got from another source. I thought I'd make a smaller version to fit in a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" envelope and share it with you! First, let me show you what I came up with for the outside of the card. I cut strips of leftover paper using the same colors as the balloons on the inside of the card. (I love using up scraps!) The colored strips were mounted with foam tape to add visual interest. A simple stamp from the "Card Chatter--Birthday" stamp set, inked in black, finished the front. But let's get to the card base and the inside----the really fun part! Begin with a 5 1/2" x 10 1/2" piece of cardstock. Score at 4 1/4", 4 3/4", 5 1/4", 5 3/4", and 6 1/4". Fold your cardstock: Mountain, valley, mountain, valley, mountain. Notice how the folds stack together in your hand, as if you were starting to make a paper fan from your childhood. Lay the paper back out on the table and add a strip of Tacky Tape to the inside of the last two score lines. Remove the pink backing and refold the card base. Flip the card open to the inside. You will see that two folded strips have formed in the middle. Add a strip of Tacky Tape to the inside of both strips like this. Remove the pink backing. Add your balloons, cutting the acetate at varying lengths to make some balloons appear higher than other ones. After adding your balloons, pinch the two folds together to sandwich the balloons neatly in between. Note: I used my Cricut cartridge "Celebrations" to cut out the balloons, using paper from the local Michael's. Why not CTMH paper? I had twenty cards worth of balloons to create and decided to make good use of paper from my pre-CTMH days. 1/8" strips of acetate were sandwiched between two balloon cutouts to create one clean-looking balloon. (If you don't have acetate, re-purpose food packaging to achieve the same look.) Photos & directions shared by Brenda F. another talented CTMH consultant. Thanks for the awesome idea!
Serendipity Stamps Welcome to the hop! We have some beautiful new stamps and unique dies that I think you are going to love. As soon as this die came in the mail I made this card using some water colored paper I already made. I cut and adhered two layers of 4 x by 5 x 1/4 card stock and placed it over the water colored paper. There are so many ways to use this beautiful die. I absolutely LOVE this rooster stamp! It was so relaxing coloring it in. Of course I had to add some Glossy Accents to give it a bit of dimension I placed the colored image over watercolor paper. Yep no water coloring on the wc paper :) Hello! You should have arrived from Karen Amidon’s blog. Next on the hop is Miriam Napier. Cute happy birthday greeting card Easy homemade birthday cards that kids can make.
Last week we shared a peek on Instagram of all these fun party balloons colored and waiting for cards. We finally turned them into fun party cards. We're sharing this one today, and will share the others next week. We used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color the balloon images that were stamped and cut from watercolor paper. The balloons and sentiment are from the More Party Animal set from Avery Elle. The letters were cut using the Stitched Alphabet set from MFT Stamps. Honestly.. everyone tells you ... 'the years go by faster the older you get'... but how is it that 25 years have sped by since my sweet little baby Jason was born!? I guess 'they' were right! Jason turned 25 last week and I thought I'd share one of the cards I made for him, but first a peek at my cutie when he was just a little :) .. actually, he really never was 'a little' because he was over 10 lbs when he was born! :) Of course being a significant birthday, I thought it would
