An absolutely divine poster by the Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad. The poster was made as promotion for "A.B.C. Teateret" (A.B.C. Theater) which was a theater located in Copenhagen from 1936-1997. The poster is incredibly detail rich and has many beautiful decorations. Notice the little golden figure playing on his small drums coming out of the trumpet. This magnificent and rare piece of artwork will surely light up any room it might be placed in! It is not only beautiful it is even large and a silk screen print too. The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line. The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special. Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. ------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Bjørn Wiinblad (signed and dated in print by Wiinblad) Print: Screen print Dimensions: 31.5 x 42.2 in (80 x 125 cm) Condition: Very good condition - very light handling signs and some surface dirt which probably come off - please see pictures. A Carnival Cruise? - Sounds like a great way to spend some time! You are looking at one of two advertisement posters by Bjørn Wiinblad made exclusively for Carnival Cruises, Miami, Florida. Wiinblad was even commissioned to create on board decor on the liner MS Jubilee. After being registered in Panama, Bahamas and Sydney the MS Jubilee is still in use today under the flag of Malta. The poster features a fine golden background color which certainly lights up the room. The artwork itself is very true to Wiinblad's special line with many colors, details and a humorous twist. Growing up in Germany my parents collected Rosenthal plates by Bjorn Wiinblad which lead me to learn more about his beautiful designs.
Date: 1980's Size: 20.5 x 27.5 inches Artist: Bjorn Wiinblad About the Artist: Bjørn Wiinblad (20 September 1918 – 8 June 2006), was a Danish painter, designer and artist in ceramics, silver, bronze, textiles, and graphics. His work has been shown widely in Europe, in the USA first in 1954 as well as in Japan, Australia and Canada in 1968. Characteristics of Wiinblad's work include whimsical round-faced people, dressed in vaguely 19th-century costume. They are often surrounded by natural elements: twining vines, floral wreaths, and fantastical trees. When Wiinblad employed colour, he did so with great assurance. His colors are saturated and strong—sometimes almost psychedelic—and are often supplemented with metallic gold or silver. This poster would be perfect for a children's playroom, the family room, or entrance... anywhere some Danish design is needed. From a private collection. Ready to frame. less

This first house I want to show you is the blue house of Bjørn Wiinblad in Denmark. The Blue House stands untouched after his death in 2006. It was Wiinblad’s own wish that his home should be an open home for artists and a living workshop for ceramic artists.

This beauty of a masterpiece was created by the Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad and displays the witch from the famous fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. The poster is one out six (at least what I know of) illustrations for the fairy tale. The illustration is likely a costume sketch for a theater performance. The remaining five posters in the collection is The Prince, The Princess, The Jester, The Queen and the Little Mermaid. The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. Fanciful Bjorn Wiinblad Limited Edition Lithograph of a carousel & riders originally given as a party favor at an elite 1974 charity ball. The colors remain vibrant & its frame is the original circa 1970s wide chrome. The carousel rider is a theme often found in Bjorn Wiinblad's artwork.
Number 2 of a 3 part series summarising Wiinblad’s career as a ceramic designer. Wiinblad began work with German Company Rosenthal around 1957 after being “discovered” by Philip Rosenthal who…
One poster to rule them all.. This firework of an artwork masterpiece has been created by the world famous artist Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006) sometimes during the 1970s. It is by far one of the most detailed and thorough thought posters I have in stock. The poster was made as artwork for a "new" edition of 1001 Nights in the 1970s - a collection of adventures descending from Arabia. You can see the title of the poster on picture four "1001 Nat" (the Danish title). About Bjørn Wiinblad: The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line - this horse rider looks like his is wearing some kind of Oriental clothing with a twist of imagination. The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. About 1001 Nights: The poster was made as artwork and advertisement for the complete book publishing of One Thousand and One Nights. Bjørn Wiinblad also made graphical illustrations in the books in order to bring the adventures to life. One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of adventures of mixed origin (possibly made between AD 500-1500), the shape of the adventure collection is Arabic, but most of the adventures available in other versions in other adventure collections. The tales are part of an overall story about a sultan who have been in the habit of beheading his wives after the wedding night, but he marries the clever Scheherazade, beginning a new story every night, so the Sultan should let her live a night more to hear the rest of the story. Like other translations, Danish translations also to some extent been a problem, since you either have purged adventure collection of erotica or that they were greased extra and thereby gained Thousand and One Night to emerge as a major erotic works - depending upon the time period in which the adventures was translated. ------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Bjørn Wiinblad (signed by Wiinblad in print) Print: Offset lithography (print by Permild & Rosengreen) Dimensions: 47.2 x 26 in (120 x 66 cm) Condition: Excellent condition - very light signs of handling (if any) - please see pictures. A truly cosy and atmospheric poster from 1986 following the classical signature line of Bjørn Wiinblad. This poster advertises 25th anniversary of "Golden Center for Performing Arts". I could only find a small article in the "New York Magazine" from 28th marts 1988 where the center is mentioned as being located in Queens, New York. This might indicate that the center seized to exist. The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line.
