These 20 photos to inspire you to visit Morocco are a slice of what to expect while visiting. It's a vibrant culture and undoubtedly one of my favorites
Probably no one would disagree that Marrakech is one of the greatest, most authentic, and slightly overwhelming cities in the world. I remember when I first came there almost 10 years ago, my holidays were going to an end, I went to the airport to take my flight home already feeling relief that I am leaving that crazy city and suddenly I was told that I confused my flight date and it is only the next day. I had to come back to that chaos for another day. I wasn’t happy about that and at that time I thought that I would never want to come back to Morocco! Never say never! By my own choice, I came back again.. and again... Marrakech medina, an old town, is super chaotic, traffic is crazy, lots of hustling with sellers, lots of noise. As I like to say, I can not even hear my thoughts when I am in Marrakech! I am not kidding. The escape, peace, and quiet I find in beautiful Moroccan boho cafes. In this blog post I want to share with you a few places I love in Marrakech and if you will feel like you need a minute to rest and catch your breath, check them out, relax and enjoy! Café Des Épices Situated in the middle of Marrakech medina, overlooking Souk Laghzel, where artisans make all kinds of things from straw and wicker. Since it is located in a very central souk area, I come there often for lunch or coffee. As with all cafe places I mentioned in this blog, foods are a little overpriced for the quality you get. However, it is worth paying a little more for the chance to quiet your mind and enjoy views of the souks from above! Atay cafe It offers two different interior rooftops with a perfect view of a mosque. If you want to take that instagramable picture that's the spot! What I really love about this place is that it is not as crowded as other cafes, at least it wasn’t when I was there. I enjoyed my healthy quinoa salad and unique decor. So many authentic pillows! I love it! Le Jardin Secret A few steps further from the main street of the souk, Le Jardin Secret is a peaceful green oasis! A little fancier than others I mention here, a perfect place for a romantic dinner. The soothing chirping of canaries will put you at ease and you will enjoy a moment of serenity. La Famille Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to dine there as it turns out that you have to make a reservation before coming. Anyway, the stylish overgrown courtyard invites you to sit down and have the best talks while enjoying delicious meals. I would definitely love to come back and make sure that it is delicious not only in my imagination. Le Kilim If you are exploring outside of the souk area, visit Le Kilim which is situated in the modern part of Marrakech. I just went there for my favorite Nous-Nous (half coffee-half milk) and to check out the interior! Despite the always buzzing and hustling, Marrakech has grown on me, I got to admit, I enjoy the vibe now! Every time I come home, I am hyped and inspired by all the interiors, textures and colors. I hope you will be too! Have fun and indulge yourself in that Moroccan rhythm! P.S. Don’t forget to sip those freshly squeezed orange juices! P.S.S. I want to thank my photographer friend Modestas Šlaustas for joining me on this trip and taking these amazing shots!
