Stunning gardens at Wrest Park
National Trust Gardens: Dinefwr, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown visited Newton House in 1775 after being invited to give his opinion. He was not required to produce a plan but advised on additional works. He recommended moving the kitchen garden from Newton House, relocating the farm to where the modern day Home Farm is located and planting clumps of trees. Dinefwr has a path named after ‘Capability’ Brown as it’s believed he helped plan its design.
Lancelot Brown was born in 1716 and is still remembered 300 years later as he designed over 170 parks in England, many of which still exist today. He is widely known as 'England's greatest gardener' and was called 'Capability' Brown, because he would characteristically tell his 'landed' clients that their estates had great 'capability' for landscape improvement.
