Good morning and a very Happy Bank Holiday Monday to you. I hope it is sunny wherever you are. It looks to be a lovely day outside here on the Isle of Wight. We have had a busy weekend full of Birthday celebrations. Friday was my Dad's Birthday and we celebrated with a fun evening of family and chocolate & coffee cake (it was delightful!). I wanted to share with you the origami shirt card I made for him. My Dad loves shirts with fish all over them so I decided to have a go at recreating one of his shirts using the By The Tide stamp set. I used this Youtube video to make my base shirt shape (using Pistachio Pudding cardstock). I changed the measurements slightly by using a whole sheet of UK sized A4. I simply followed the same steps as shown in the video. Once I had the folds sorted I then stamped the By The Tide fish in Garden Green. I hand cut the little pocket and daubered the edges to define the shape (I also added a bit of stitching detail by using my paper piercing tool to make little holes around the edge of the pocket). I finished with Neutrals Buttons (I had to use one extra to cover a slight stamping blip!). The inside of the folded card looks like this. I used the Age Awareness birthday sentiment to stamp the inside. To go with this card I created this stack of gift boxes using my Gift Box Punch Board. I created a large, medium and small box from Kraft cardstock which I then covered with Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper. Each box was filled with one of my Dads favourite treats. I tied the whole stack together with a length of ribbon from my stash. And my Dad's main gift was this wood burnt chopping board. This was my first attempt at using my pyrography tool and I learned a lot about the type of wood that would work best for this kind of intricate design (this wood was very hard and the grain made it very difficult to get a smooth line). But I was still really pleased with it all the same ;0) So a big thank you for popping by today. I hope you have had a fantastic bank holiday weekend. Please let me know if you have any questions about Stampin' Up! or our products. I would love to help. All items can be purchased online via my shop or get in touch directly and I can order them for you to be delivered direct to your door. I'd also love to Demo for you and your friends at a crafty party. As the hostess you earn lots of lovely freebies and you all get to make a fun crafty project too (no crafting experience necessary!) -XXX- Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Answer the question on the ODBD blog when you leave your comment. Now... on to my card details: I made this tri-shutter card using stamps from the ODBD sets: Mighty Sea, The Sea, and Anchor (a past release). I stamped the images with Memento and colored with Copic Markers. I used SU! Close to Cocoa for my base, and Memory Box Poppyfinch designer paper. The blue is Bazzill. With my Grand Calibur, I cut several Spellbinders Dies: Grommet Tags, Labels 11, Labels 17, and Labels 20. I used the negative part of an EK Success Bracket Punch for the little blue "waves" I added. The twine is "hung" on a part of an ODBD Fence Die. The little sand dollars are a K&Co self adhesive ribbon which I cut apart to use as single shells. Below is a close up of the fish netting I created with a re-purposed onion bag. I must admit...when I saw the challenge at Less is More this week, I found it very intriguing and challenging...but had no idea what to do!!! When you lack creativity...GOOGLE!!! I immediately googled shaped cards, and fell in love with THIS card,,,what an amazing guitar Amy made!!! It was posted 3 YEARS ago...but I think it is timeless!! I pretty much cased the total idea but changed a couple things...here's my card... I made one less string, added a sentiment(Paper Smooches) and used versamark and clear embossing powder and made the red of my guitar really glossy!! I also used my Papertrey Ink Canvas/Linen Impression plate to give some texture to the white panel. Here's a picture that shows the guitar's glossiness a bit more!... I free style drew the guitar like Amy did...let me tell you, if I can draw a guitar, ANYONE can!!! What fun!!! Size...standard size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"...cool, right?!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

To make the waistcoat card you first need to print the template on a piece of A4 cardstock as shown and cut out each of the elements - please note that the full waistcoat front is a single unit, do not cut on the line that shows the overlap. This is designed to exactly fit a piece of A5 cardstock folded in half (this is the colour of the shirt) if you do not use A5 cardstock the measurements are 5 13/16" x8 1/4" With this in mind, cut out each of the elements. The template in PDF form is here, ensure that you have scaling set to none and that the printer is printing in landscape mode. Do not use the image below for printing, it is just a picture of what you will get. This is what you should have when you have cut all the elements out: On the shirt template there is a + between the collar pieces, using a piercing tool pierce the centre. Fold your piece of A5 Cardstock in half (this is your shirt), place the shirt template on the front of the card and secure with clips, carefully cut away the top of the card using the template as a guide, using a pencil through the hole mark the centre point on the collar. Open up and trim the collar off the back of the card. Fold the top points of the collar down to the pencil mark and score the fold, the shirt should now look like this: Next you need to trace the complete waistcoat, the hexagon and the tie bottom onto your chosen Designer Papers, sponge all the edges in a co-ordinating ink and add pen stitching using a Stampin' Write Marker, you should end up with this: Now take the half waistcoat template and use it to draw in the overlap and as a mask to sponge some colour onto the overlap, add pen stitching. Using the template from the mat pack and the 1/8" holes work out the placement for your buttons and use the template to draw the button circles onto the waistcoat, it should now look like this: Using a Cropodile punch 3 3/8" circles from co-ordinating cardstock adhere over the circles you have drawn and add buttonholes using a Stampin' Write marker, it should now look like this: Now it is time to assemble the card. Place a Stampin' Dimentional on the back of the hexagon and adhere under the collar just covering the pencil mark you made earlier on the shirt, add the body of the tie, sliding it under the hexagon and centering it down the front of the card. Adhere the waistcoat body over the top of the tie. To finish off place a dimentional on each half of the collar and fold over the tie, you should now have something that looks like this: I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, believe it or not it has taken me all weekend to put it together! This tutorial is my gift to you as a fellow cardmaker, however, if you teach classes or sell your cards using this please consider using the tip jar on the template page to help motivate me to write more. I will even e-mail you a PDF file of this tutorial if you do :-) Have a great day Lynette

Happy Wednesday! Today I want to share the journey of blogging. I have really loved this creative journey and want to thank all of you for coming along with me! This card is for my friend Heather who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. Heather made her first post today on her new blog called InkandFlour.blogspot.com YAY!!!! And it happens to be the same day I started my blog 2 years ago. What a funny coincidence! I hope you will pop over and say hello! This card is all about "Enjoying the Journey". Here are a few things you will need to get started. Distress Markers, Distress Paint, Detail Water Brush, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Jet Black Archival Ink, Blending Tool, a little Idea-ology and some Stamps. Don't you just love this Travel Blueprint set from Tim? Our base card will be a #12 black tag from Ranger folded in half. Cut a piece of Kraft resist about 3" wide by the height of the tag. Color the piece with Distress Paint by adding the paint to the surface. Dab with a baby wipe to blend the colors together. I used Chipped Sapphire, Forest Moss and Salty Ocean. When you're all done coloring your piece be sure to wipe the resist areas to reveal the kraft card stock. If you don't have the paints yet you can use Distress inks on an Ink Blending Tool. Tear the right edge of the paper. Ink all edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending tool. Adhere to the left side of your card. Stamp the Compass image 3 times onto kraft card stock with Black Archival ink. Cut the pieces out as shown. Using a Paper Distresser, distress the edges of the base compass image. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Color the image with Distress Markers by applying the ink to your Craft Sheet, picking up the color with the Detail Water Brush and coloring the compass. If you want the color fairly dark you can color the compass directly with the marker. Using Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool ink the edges of all the Compass layers. Add the Mini Gears to the center of the compass using a mini fastener. Pop dot the compass to create dimension. Mat the compass with a piece of Black Kraft'core the has been distressed with a paper Distresser and Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Die cut the Washer Border using Black Kraft'core. Sand the washer border, Ink with Vintage Photo on an ink blending tool and adhere to card. Tie paper twine around card with the "Life" key in the bow. Add the Word band "Enjoy the Journey" with long fasteners. Adhere the pin nib to the card. Pop dot the compass unit to your card. I love this trick! To cover the back of the hardware on the inside of your card use Tissue Tape. I love the dimension of this card, just by using pop dots. Take some time for yourself and "Enjoy the Journey"! Thanks for coming by and don't forget to say hi to Heather over on here new blog InkandFlour.blogspot.com. She has a beautiful tag for you to see. It's time for a new Just Add Ink challenge & Jan has set us a well timed challenge to create a card for males, since it's Father's Day on September 6th in Australia. I ran a masculine card class last weekend too so I combined the challenge with my class card. I do love a man in a suit (whether it's my own darling man, James Bond, or maybe even a dressed up Mr Cumberbatch or the guys from Suits), so I created this formal / tuxedo type suit card. It was very popular with my class lovelies so hope you like it too. My card was adapted from this awesome card & tutorial by Sarah Jane Rae, which I pinned a while ago. I adapted her idea to make a smaller card using a standard half A4 sheet to fit a regular C6 envelope (the card front is 10 x 14.8cm or approx 4 x 6 inches). Sarah's card front was about double this size. I used the envelope punch board to make my bow tie). I used some White Perfect Accent dots for the shirt buttons. I also added a belly band around the front to add a bit more detail & space for a sentiment - birthday & Father's Day versions. The birthday sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms & I also used White Perfect Accents dots coloured with a black sharpie marker - easy! You can see the other sentiment in this pic: I really liked how Sarah attached the shirt front to one side of the jacket so I did this too. This larger picture shows more detail. The card opens up to show a large space for your message. I stamped the birthday version with the fantastic sentiment from Happy Birthday Everyone, a must-have stampin' rewards only stamp set from the annual catalogue. The ' to a wonderful man' sentiment is from this set too. I was hoping to share my instructions to make my card in this post but it's taken much longer to prepare than I expected, so I'll post them separately - hopefully sometime tomorrow - & edit this post to include the instructions link too. Edited 21 August, 2pm Re-edited 23 August 7pm SUIT CARD TEMPLATES & BOW TIE TUTORIAL IS HERE! Please refer to Sarah Jane's suit card tutorial for instructions to make a large suit card. Use the measurements in my templates to reduce size to my standard size card version (14.8 x 10cm or 6 x 4 inch front) with an envelope punch board bow tie. If you have questions or need more info about making my smaller version, please leave me a comment including your e-mail addy & I'll be happy to help. VIEW & DOWNLOAD MY SUIT-TUXEDO TEMPLATES & BOW TIE TUTORIAL PDF. Note: please choose the download option (arrow & line) to download. Do not choose 'share' as this just sends me an e-mail. Here are pics from the tute so you can see what's included, but don't save them as they're just small versions of the actual doc. Thanks for visiting & I hope you like my card. Please check out all the Just Add Ink fab team's creations here & try the challenge too - you can never have too many masculine card ideas. Please leave some comment love & pin the card if you like my card. Here's a combined pinnable image if you do. Back soon! I cased a card from Stampin' Up! using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, my card is not an actual match as I changed the decoration. I love the layout of this card and the great use of the patterned paper. This got me thinking about what other cards could be made with this paper pack. This is what I came up with (it took me a week as I used the entire paper pack and made 69 cards). There are 17 designs plus the one that I cased. I only have a small pile of scraps left, which if I really wanted to I could probably make into another card, but I did not have the creativity left to manage it. Card 1 Card 2 Card 3 Card 4 Card 5 Card 6 Card 7 Card 8 This card is similar to an inchie card (the squares are slightly larger than an inch). It is the second last card that I made, using up a lot of the small pieces of patterned paper left that fitted nicely into the smallest Stitched Square Framelit. I had fun decorating each small square. Card 9 Card 10 Card 11 Card 12 Card 13 Card 14 Card 15 Card 16 Card 17 This is the last card I made using up all the small strips and pieces left. I made 4 of these, each one slightly different as they use different scraps of paper. I will be donating these cards to the Ronald McDonald House Charity at our Stampin' Up! Onstage Local Event which is being held on 7April, 2018 (less than 2 weeks away). Don't forget the Sale-A-Bration promotion that ends on the 31 March 2018. Hey all, My boyfriend's uncle is visiting from New York and we are celebrating his birthday during his visit. This will be the first time I meet the man and I don't know anything about him so I found this birthday card idea on Pinterest that I thought he'd like. Here it is: I cut a 5 and a half by 4 and 1/4 blue sheet for the card cover. Then a 5 and 1/4 by 4 inch white piece and embossed it with the stripe embossing folder. I used my scraps for all the other pieces. I cut the yellow and green polka dot paper and trimmed it to line up with the white striped paper. I cut circles using my Silhouette Cameo to the sizes of 1 and 1/4, 3/4, and 1/4 inch. I cut the yellow rectangle and stamped it with a happy birthday stamp. I attached all the pieces layering the circles in various spots. Inside: On the inside and stamped a simple birthday wishees on the same yellow paper from the front and attached a blue background. I am entering these challenges: A Gem of A Challenge - Birthday Wishes DL.
