Berlin-based artist and designer Bartek Elsner creates sculptures from cardboard, sparking a sense of whimsy with the often forgotten and ubiquitous material. Elsner's public installations, which have ranged from fireplaces to enormous boom boxes, make use of a medium often found littering the streets of major cities. In one of his most detailed pieces — an anatomical rendering of a heart supported by a thin rod, as if floating — the dull cardboard is cut in a prismatic style reminiscent of a crystal. Take a look at some of Elsner's recent works after the jump.

Where does all the time go. pg

Whether it’s wood or cardboard, Bruno Walpoth maintains a realism in his subjects while highlighting the texture of the materials he implements. The Italian artist’s sensibility is a blend of the historical and the contemporary, offering a quiet power in each of his portraits, which feel like captured moments. He was last featured on HiFructose.com here.
If you ask Melbourne-based artist Daniel Agdag what he does, he’ll tell you that he makes things out of cardboard. However, this statement hardly captures the absurd complexity and detail of his boxboard and PVA glue sculptures that push the limits of the medium. Agdag is an award-winning creator of stop-motion films and this new series of work, Sets for a Film I’ll Never Make, feature a number of his structural experiments which he refers to simply as “sketching with cardboard”.
