Hi there, and welcome to another class posting. This is my first class for September, and it is a Graphic 45 card where we will be making these four cards. G45 Imagine Card Class WHEN: Wednesday, September 5 TIME: 6:00 - 8:30 COST: $38.00 + GST To register for this class contact Stacey at [email protected] or 778-533-4290 It's time to have some fun with Graphic 45's new Imagine Collection! Get ready for some fussy cutting to create these four unique beautiful cards. No stamping, just fussy cutting homework and card assembly in class. Homework kits will be available for pick up at the studio the evening of Wednesday, August 29th. PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Homework, scissors, paper trimmer, double sided adhesive tape, mini-glue dots, liquid glue, & white foam tape or squares. Shall we have a closer look at the cards? This first one has several fussy cut pieces attached to the front of the card. The main hot air balloon has two layers attached together with pop ups to give more dimension to it. Here are photos with a closer look. These side views, below, show the layering; what gets popped up, what isn't, and what has two layers to it. I love how this next card turned out. All the butterflies arranged on this card turned out beautifully. The next two photos are a closer look at the top of the card and the bottom of the card. The side views give you a better idea on what is popped up and the arranging of the butterflies. For this next card, you will note the two striped borders that are mitred. I believe I have recently posted that I love to do that with striped paper. A closer look for you to see the arranging of the rose fussy cut pieces. And, the side views to see some of the other details, such as layering and popped up pieces. For the final card, there are again mitred striped pieces, much wider this time, and a lot of roses. These next two photos show a closer look at the arrangement of the roses on the card. And lastly, side views from both sides of the card so that you can see more details as with the above three cards. Hope that you have enjoyed seeing these cards. For those that will be taking this class, the photos will be of help to you. For everyone else, may these cards inspire your creativity. Especially with the beautiful Graphic 45 Imagine paper collection. I am working on more Fall classes, but tomorrow's post will be showcasing my August Bullet Journal set up. Then, hopefully, Monday or Tuesday there will be another class posting. Happy creating everyone!
Do you love pretty stationery? I've prepared this chic and trendy Nature Sketchbook Correspondence Kit for the 3x3 Challenge at Graphic 45.
Recently I finished teaching a box and card set with Graphic 45's Couture line. I kept the box and cards simple so the set could be made in a 3 hour class. The cards don't have too many thick embellishments on them so 5 could fit in the box. Rather than decorating the whole box I put the elegant peacock paper on the backside of it and made a belly band that slides on and off. The picture and layer behind it are die cut with ovals and the peacock feather is tucked behind them. I put a little piece of black paper behind the heart opening and inked the edges black. I used the whole sheet called "Beautiful" for the belly band and cards. It was the inspiration for this class. Here are the 5 cards. They all have black bases and are A-2 sized. Tiny flowers are made by Maya Road. The pearl and rhinestone flower is made by Maya Road. The scroll die cut is by My Favorite Things. I taught this class 9 times. The boxed set is good for a gift and many students made duplicates. I had a great time designing this class and teaching it too! Stamps: Impression Obsession - Peacock, Graphic 45 Couture Set #3 for insides of cards Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black, Cat's Eye - Blackbird Chalk, Distress Ink - Broken China Paper: Graphic 45 - Couture 12 x 12, Neenah Black Linen Dies: Impression Obsession - Peacock Feather, MFT scroll, Spellbinders Labels 28, Nellie's Dies - Ovals Other: black rhinestones, 2mm pearls, May Arts black lace, Maya Road flowers & Pearl flowers, Envelope Punch Board (for box)
Hello Crafters! It has been a good week in the craft room as I have been able to squeeze in more time to play. Last night I made a friendship card using one of Quietfire's newly released stamps, "Friendship isn't a big thing": Suzanne Cannon's talent still blows me away even after all this time of knowing about and using her stamps. She designs all of her stamps by hand and her calligraphy is beyond words! For the card I used this week's sketch at MOJO Monday and Graphic 45's beautiful Artisan Style papers. The fussy cut butterflies are from Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe paper. Stickles was applied to the butterflies and flowers on the background paper. Quietfire has several new stamps released and they are so worth checking out! She has some specials on right now, too: Buy over $35 worth of product and you get a free "Each of us has a song" stamp. All decorative papers are 35% off. Spellbinders are 30% off, too. Here is a link for all of the details. Thanks for stopping by! Have a crafty day! Hugs, Kathy Jo This card is entered into the following challenges: MOJO Monday, Sketch 613 Avenue Create, AG Word Art Wednesday, AG Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, AG TTCRD, AG Sister Act, AG Crafty Hazelnut Patterned Paper, AG w/ patterned paper
Hello Everyone, When the focus of you life is no longer teaching paper crafting classes and is filled with other things, like cooking 1/2 the meals for your daughter's family, or driving grandchildren around, or participating more in volunteer work, the time just flies by. I do have a couple of other posts in the works, but with Scrapbook Essentials BC has this class coming up soon, so I had better post these cards for you. WHEN: Thursday, May 16th TIME: 6:00 - 9:00 COST: $35 + GST In today's post I am also sharing with you three tips. You will find them by the word "tip" in bold. These four cards designed with Graphic 45's "Love Notes" used most of the cut-a-parts sheet along with some of the other sheets form the collection and some black and red cardstock. There is not as much fussy cutting as there is with some of my other designs. So let's have a look at each of the cards. There will be a series of detail photos with each card so that you see some of them more closely for any of them you wish to make. The Mandolin Card This is how I do the mitering of corners with striped paper pattern strips. 1. Start by laying out the piano key strips as in the photos below 2. Holding corners flush, cut with scissors by overlapping inside corner to outside corner, on all four corners 3. Attach the pieces to 5 X 7 red cardstock leaving about a 1/16 inch border around the edge Here are the close ups from different angles to give you help in the layering and assembly of the card. The Trumpet Card For this card I created a little tag using a die. Here is a tip for you. If you have a favorite smaller tag die, you will need to die cut one out of your choice of pattern paper and then trace an outline of that tag die onto the coordinating cardstock you chose to go with the paper. Then cut it out with your scissors. This will create a slightly larger version of the tag to attach the pattern paper onto leaving a narrow border all around it. You will see this tag in some of the following photos. More details to view in these close ups. One thing I need to mention is that on all the roses I used a Spectrum Noir Glimmer Brush. You do not see it much at all in the photos, except on this photo where there is a hint of it when you look closely. The "Music Speaks" Card This is a great Anniversary card, Valentines card, or just an I love You card. A closer look from different angles will help you see more of the details. Another tip for you. This is the second card that uses thread for embellishment, but ordinary or regular sewing thread is fine and the thread you see on these two cards is coat thread. A thread that is thicker used for sewing heavier fabrics for coats. As you can see it adds more texture by using the thicker thread. "How Do I Love Thee" Card This card uses more of the larger roses fussy cut out of the paper. You will see that the background paper has one of the larger roses, and the others are popped up fussy cut roses, leaves & buds. Another tip when working with a background that has similar images to your fussy cutting. On the back ground piece, before you assemble your card, take an ink blending tool and an ink colour similar to the Distress Ink pad (not Oxide) to Gathered Twigs and lightly darken the background area where you will be adding similar fussy cut items. This will help to have the pieces you add stand out a bit more instead of blending into the background. And here are the close up details for the last card of this set. I hope you enjoyed seeing the beautiful paper turn in a few of the card ideas I had, and that you are inspired ins some way. Happy Papercrafting everyone!
Hi, happy Friday! Today it's Cardmaking Friday at the Graphic 45 blog and therefore I have a new card to share. I have fallen in love with the gorgeous Botanical Tea collection the minute I saw it. This time I used these beautiful papers to make a card with lots of fussy cutting. If you like to see how I made this card, you can find a step-by-step tutorial with photos on the Graphic 45 blog. Hoi, fijne vrijdag! Good Morning! I am so excited to be featured on the Graphic 45 Blog today! In my role as a Project Designer, I mostly create things for the Retail Market rather than for the G45 Blog. But, once in a while, G45 kindly asks me to create a few extra things to share with our Readers! They sent me the NEW winter release collections and asked me to make a few cards. So...here you go! Grab a cup of something and sit down with your feet up! This is a long post! I created this card with the Home Sweet Home Collection. This is a collection that I have asked for ever since French Country came out. I told Diane that I wanted to see a sort of "farmer's wife" country collection, and here it is! {yay} I love the colors and prints of this collection. I ended up using just a tiny bit of the paper, after all that fussing to get my hands on it. Mostly because I am hoarding it for a larger, mini album project! I don't get as much free stuff these days, so I have to hoard. That's my story and I am sticking to it! I used Spellbinders and Heartfelt Creations dies to create some "fabric" flowers from the paper. I dabbed the flowers with white paint to make them a bit more shabby. I think the kraft cardstock and the ivory lace adds to the country feel of this card. The tag die is one that has been in my hoard, but I had not used it before (Spellbinders Framed Tags One). I love the "stitched" edges of the die cut. I decorated the inside of the card as well. Naturally! The next collection that I used is the NEW Precious Memories Collection. This collection is a perfect match for the retired Little Darlings Collection! I have loads of Little Darlings in my hoard, and I was so happy to see this new, updated collection to "match"! I created this baby girl card with lots of pink and with lots of vintage flair by using embossing and twine. I have recreated this card (in slightly different design) for a charity event workshop that I am teaching in April. The event benefits babies and mommies, so what could be better than creating sweet baby cards?! I not only embossed the background cardstock, but I also embossed the ATC tag. Rubbing a bit of tan ink over the embossing gives that shabby look. I fussy cut the little dresses and clipped them to the twine "clothes line" with tiny clothespins. Part of the shabby charm of this card is the bow and buttons! Here is a peeky at the inside! I decided to do a boy version, but this time I created a card suitable for twins! I have created a more simple version of this card for the charity event, too. I just adore the sweet prints in this collection, plus the added bonus of those adorable images! I created a stacked feature for the card with a heart doily die cut, some ivory twine, and a fabby, double satin bow! I added some embossed stars and a button. And the inside, with a stamp from the Little Darlings collection. I hope to make more cards from this collection to donate. I am at an age where my friends and family are no longer having babies, and in fact some of my friends are already grandmas! It is very rare for me to need a baby card. But, donating them is the next best thing! The last NEW collection is the Artisan Style Collection. I actually created this card for Craft Hoarders back in January, but I will share again here. I do love the colors and some of the prints in the collection! It is very rich! Graphic 45 certainly hit the ball out of the park with the new Winter Release! I am sure you will see more projects with these collections, as well ad the Deluxe Collector's Collections in the days and weeks to come! In fact, I recently made a project with the NEW Once Upon A Springtime Collection. I was part of the G45 team when this collection hit the shelves the first time. It is still wonderful. See see all of this mini album, click HERE. Time to Flourish was released in November 2014 as a pre-release collection. I have been creating projects with that collection for the Retail Market. I was also asked to create a Snapguide project for our Fans! I used the March Time to Flourish papers and a bit of left-over Secret Garden (retired). One of my favorite color combinations is purple and green! I love the March Time to Flourish. I cannot wait to be able to share the March project sheets with all of you, which will be in a few weeks. In the meantime, this is just a taste of what you will see with that project set! The Snapguide I created contained instructions for hand-dying seam binding! See below! Are you always traveling a road of endless adventure? It seems like I am... Between family, travel, creating and everyday life it seems like the adventure is always taking a twist or turn here or there. Today I am celebrating life's adventure with a fun card using Graphic 45 Imagine Collection. Begin by adhering pattern paper to the top of blue card stock and adding to the front of a 5" x 6 1/2" card front. Die cut Clock pieces from the Square Tag & Clock Die; adhere to top of cards. Fussy cut Sentiment from border strip paper; add to front of card with pop dots. Add a few extra fussy cut flowers to the top of card. Fussy cut small butterflies from the pattern paper; layer together with pop dots. Add Glossy Accent to center to give dimension. Add Epherema Card to top of card; fussy cut second image and place on card with pop dots. Add small Metal Clock Key to front of card. Add bow and fussy cut butterfly to finish card. I hope you are inspired to enjoy life's adventures...start a new beginning each day and celebrate making cards with Graphic 45. Hello everyone! Today I would love to share with you a project using the gorgeous Graphic 45 Ocean Blue Collection!! This is a beautiful collection of papers featuring images of all things Ocean. It is truly a favorite of mine. As a designer I love all things paper crafts and I love to create albums, cards, folios, and home decor. When I am finished with my larger projects I always keep my scraps to create with later. It is amazing what you can do with those leftovers and scraps! let me share with you my process. First I sort the scraps and leftover papers by size, starting with the larger pieces down to the smallest. Once I have them separated I set the larger ones that can be used for card fronts and mattes aside. Next I look through all of the smaller pieces and pick out those with beautiful images that I am able to fussy cut. I then fussy cut the images and place them in a container. To create this beautiful trio I gathered up the scraps and fussy cuts along with 3 5x7 kraft card bases, Navy and Ivory cardstock, and some small things from my stash such as ribbon and chippies. I used the Large Tag, ATC Tag & Flower Dies to create paper flowers from some of the scraps to embellish with. Card 1: Navy Matte - 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 Ivory Matte - 4 1/2 X 6 1/2 Background G45 Ocean Blue - Kauai 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 For this card I created a chipboard porthole wrapped with the papers and jute string. Fussy cuts were adhered at different levels using foam adhesive squares for dimension. Card 2: Navy Matte - 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 Ivory Matte - 4 1/2 X 6 1/2 Background - G45 Ocean Blue - Fiji - 4 1/4 X 3 1/2 G45 Ocean Blue - Antigua - 4 1/4 X 3 1/2 These two were placed on top and bottom and wrapped with a canvas/starfish ribbon and adhered to the base. A Kraft ATC Tag covered in G45 Ocean Blue Capri, fussy cuts, and a sticker sentiment. Card 3: Navy Matte - 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 This card background was made using strips of various sizes of the scraps and a 4 5/8" X 2 1/4 strip of Capri along the bottom. These were brought together in the middle with a strip of braided jute and the paper flowers were placed along with fussy cuts and a framed cutaway sentiment card. Inside the cards: Navy Matte - 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 Ivory Matte - 4 1/2 X 6 1/2 Strips from the G45 Ocean Blue cutaways What a fun way to use scraps!! I hope you agree and will create something beautiful with yours today too! Thanks so much for visiting my blog and viewing my post today. Hugs, Jenn Be sure to follow the blog at Graphic 45 for lots of inspiration!

When Graphic 45 introduced The Place in Time collection in November, I jumped for joy! My favorite papers in the collection are the Cut-Aparts! They are "right up my card making alley"! The Place in Time Collection contains wonderful images that are perfect for card making! I have decided to make one card for each month, using the Cut-Aparts. I really wanted to have the whole set completed for CHA, but I did not have time. Plus, there is not enough room in the booth for me to cram so many projects in there! What I plan to do is share the first three cards today (January, February, March), which I made for the CHA booth. I used the same layout for all three cards, but each card is unique. I used this sketch, which I previously created for the Crafts 'n things Blog, for my layout. I used the papers and images from each monthly cut apart sheets and added a few embellishments and a sentiment. In February I will share the next five cards in the set (April, May, June, July, August), with a different sketch. In March I will share the last four cards (September, October, November, December), and a third sketch. Plus, in March I will share a card holder or box of some kind! Here is the January card. If this card looks familiar, I sort of copied one of my other cards using all Graphic 45 paper this time. Sometimes, you don't have to re-invent the wheel! I loved the sketch and the image so much, that I used it for this CHA idea! The January card is all about the cold weather. Doesn't it look frosty?! The inside of each card is decorated to match the month. February is all about Valentine's Day. March is beautiful in green and purple. I mimicked the bird's nest by creating a flower "nest" on top of my bow. What do you think? Are they worth coming back to see the rest? I hope you think so! I want to share this next project with you again, since it was at CHA also. This was a group DT project from December when we each designed a Place in Time calendar page! We were all supposed to send them to G45 for use in the booth. Here is the original post with a tutorial. I had to leave CHA before the show got started, but I snagged a few photos from the G45 FB page. These shots have some of my projects displayed! Hello Everyone! Hope you are all comping well with the self-isolation we are going through for the past couple of months. In some ways life has really changed, but in others it's kind of normal for me as I stay home a lot anyway. I just can't go out as much as I'd like to. Today I am posting more images for the G45 'Fashion Forward' kit #1 for those that purchased the kit from Scrapbook Parade. Hopefully they will help you with assembling the cards in your kit along with the instructions. Here are the four cards you will make in this kit. This first card in your instructions comes from the 1st page of the collection for January. I love using fussy cut paper images to create Graphic 45 cards. This is the 2nd card in your instructions which is the 2nd page of the paper and it titled February. This close up shows that I heat embossed the filigree metal heart with gold embossing powder, and attached the single rose bud to it. Next we have the 3rd card from the kit, the month of March. I made a mistake on my card, and yours will be different. I mixed up the yellow/orange cardstock with the black cardstock. So yours will be the correct way I had planned it and wrote it in my sketchbook. Lastly we have the 4th and final card from your kit for the month of April. The fussy cut Deco Iris' are tucked in between layers of the tule bow. I thank you for purchasing this kit and hope that you enjoyed putting these four cards together. Til net time, Happy Creating!
I've made this whimsical Graphic 45 Fairie Wings Shaker Card Folio for the first Frilly and Funkie Challenge of 2018. I hope you'll play along!

I spy my calendar page on the back wall, behind the fence! I spy both my January and February cards here! And here I spy my March card, and on the left hand wall, my Secret Garden page layout! (Not sure why the layout it is hiding in the Place in Time display, but whatever!) Thanks for looking! I hope you go away inspired! WELCOME BACK TO THE GRAPHIC 45 CALENDAR FOLIO SERIES! We are getting close to the end! We just have December to go! And it is completed, I just have to get it posted! I actually finished both months back in November 2018, but with my surgery in December and the recovery...I am just now getting to the tutorials! To see ALL of the completed folios, see the end of the post where there are links to all the months completed so far. I have also added a TAB at the top of the blog so you can always go there to find all the folios. I have the November Folios to share today. The November Folios are all decorated in a vintage Fall and Thanksgiving theme, suitable for photos of Thanksgiving, harvest parties, and other fall holidays. We are continuing to use the Graphic 45 Children's Hour Collection for this month. (This collection is now very hard to find, so if you are thinking of starting this folio series as of today, you will probably have to substitute another paper line, unless you can find Children's Hour online somewhere.) We will use the 12x12, 8x8, and 6x6 pads, plus some of the other items from the collection. This month, we are also going to be using the Place in Time Deluxe Collector's Edition (plus some of the original collection, since it is in my stash in abundance). We are also using Time to Flourish (which is retired, but sometimes you can still find it online). I am also using quite a bit of the Seasons Collection, including the ephemera cards. As always, feel free to substitute anything in your stash that you feel works well for a fall themed project. I have used dark brown cardstock for the base. See the full supply list below. The November folios consist of one calendar folio (8 1/4" x 8 1/4") and one scrapbook folio (8" x 8"). These folios hold AT LEAST twelve (12) photos. You can customize them for fewer or more photos, or for journaling, or to use as a planner. The folios are the same basic construction as the all the other folios. To see the other tutorials, check the links at the end of the post. We will be using DARK BROWN cardstock for this project, so don't let the photos with black cardstock fool you! Before getting started, I recommend cutting up ONE EACH of the Cut Apart and Collective sheets from the various paper collections. That way you will have all the images needed, as we will also use the prints on the reverse sides of most papers. (Note: I may have used more than 2 sheets of some of the paper, but if you cannot do that, substitute something else from the collections or something from your stash that coordinates.) I also recommend the Ephemera card packs, if you can find them. November Calendar Folio The November Folio is side-fold folio, measuring 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" when closed. This theme is perfect for fall and Thanksgiving memories. The orange, gold, brown, and green color scheme carries throughout the project. The folio opens with areas for photos and journaling. This month we are going to create two pockets, perfect for tags, calendar pages, and more! Let's get started! Cut one sheet of dark brown cardstock to 8 1/4" x 8 1/4". Cut a second sheet of dark brown cardstock to 8 1/4" x 8 3/4". Score the second piece on the long side at 1/2" to make a second 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" panel. Fold and burnish the score line. Attach the two sheets together to create a folio that is 8 1/4" tall and 16 1/2" wide. Make sure the fold is on the left-hand side of the folio, so that the folio opens like a book. Create a pocket for the left inside page. Cut dark brown cardstock to 7" x 7". Score at 1/2" from the left, right, and bottom edges. Fold on the score lines and add double-sided tape to the tabs. With the tabs folded inward, your piece will measure a 6 1/2" tall by 6" wide rectangle. With tabs folded, measure in 4" from the upper left corner and make a mark. Measure up 3" from the bottom right corner and make a mark. Draw a line connecting the two marks. Cut this section from the pocket. With the tabs folded, your piece will look like the photo above. This view shows the back of the pocket. The tabs have adhesive attached. To help with cutting your decorative paper for the pocket, we will create a template. Place the pocket, with tabs folded, onto a scrap of paper. Use a pencil to trace the shape of the pocket. Cut out the shape. Then, cut a little off each edge of the shape, making it slightly smaller than the pocket. Use this paper template to aid you in cutting your decorative paper for the pocket. Save this template for the future projects. Before placing the pocket onto the left page, as shown above, you need to first cover the inside of the folio page. Cut Time to Flourish November Flourish (reverse, green collage) paper to 8 1/8" x 8 1/8" and attach to the left page of the folio. Attach the pocket to the page as shown. Let's create a pocket for the right-hand page. Cut dark brown cardstock 5 1/2" x 9 1/4". Score at 1/2" from the left, right, and bottom edges. Fold on the score lines and add double-sided tape to the tabs. If desired, trim the tabs at an angle, as shown. Attach the pocket to the right-hand page. Now, close the folio, making sure the fold is on the left side. Now, let's decorate! We will start with the front cover. Cut dark gold/yellow cardstock to 8 1/8" x 8 1/2" and attach it to the front of the folio. Attach the Children's Hour 8x8 November Calendar page to the gold cardstock on the front of the folio. Trim the postage strip from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the left side of the calendar. Using a die cut template, trim a doily shape from ivory cardstock. Attach the doily to the right side of the calendar page, as shown Mat the Seasons Autumn Collective image with dark brown cardstock and attach it to folio, as shown. Tuck the "Be Thankful" Time to Flourish banner under the lower left corner of the image. Place a brad into the hole of the Children's Hour chipboard tag and glue the tag to the upper right corner of the image. Hot glue some fall florals to the left side of the main image, as shown. I used some spray mists to "colorize" a few white flowers from my stash. I also used some bits from fall "picks" that I found at the craft store. The cover is finished. Open the folio and we will work on the left-hand page. You should have already attached the background paper and the pocket to this page. (Use Time to Flourish November Flourish (reverse, green collage) paper, cut to to 8 1/8" x 8 1/8" for the background.) Using the template we made in the steps above, trim Seasons Autumn (pumpkin collage) paper to fit the pocket and attach. Trim the "Thanksgiving" border strip from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper. Attach the border to the bottom of the pocket, trimming to size. Use die cut templates to cut two circles from Children's Hour 6x6 Patterns and Solids paper (brown dots). Cut one circle 3" in diameter and the second circle 2 1/4". Mat both with dark brown cardstock, cut slightly larger. Attach the circles to the pocket, as shown. Trim the November journaling strip from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper. Attach the strip to the upper right side of the page. Attach a small banner from Time To Flourish Banners and a chipboard element from Children's Hour to the bottom edge of the journaling strip. Let's make some tags for our pocket! Use two of the Graphic 45 Large Kraft Tags. (They come six per pack.) For one tag, trim 1" from the bottom edge. Round the bottom corners. For the second tag, trim 1 1/2" from the bottom edge, then round the corners. (A black tag is shown here, but use KRAFT for your project.) Trim Children's Hour 12x12 November Calendar paper (reverse, orange print) paper to 6 7/8" x 3 3/4". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the front of the longer tag. Attach an image sticker (Children's Hour) to dark brown cardstock, trim and attach with foam adhesive to the upper right of the tag. Trim Children's Hour Montage (collage print) paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the front of the shorter tag. Flip the tags over. Trim Time to Flourish November Flourish paper to 6 7/8" x 3 3/4". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the back of the longer tag. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids (orange text) paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the back of the shorter tag. Place the tags into the pocket. Let's work on the right page. Trim Children's Hour November Montage paper to 4" x 8 1/8" and attach it above the pocket. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids (orange flowers) paper to 4 5/8" x 8 1/8" and attach it to the pocket. Trim the border strip from Children's Hour Collective paper and attach it to the pocket as shown. Trim the "November" border from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the top center of the pocket. Now, let's create some paper pretties to place into the pocket. We will make one calendar card and two tags for this pocket. Trim dark brown cardstock to 8" x 8". Trim the Time to Flourish 8x8 November Calendar page to 7 7/8" x 7 7/8" and attach it to the card. Trim the leaf border strip from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the bottom of the calendar. Trim a postage image from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper and attach it to the top right corner of the calendar. Use a G45 Large Kraft Tag for the longer tag. Trim 1 1/2" from the bottom of the tag and round the corners. Trim Place in Time November Cut Apart (reverse) paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4", using the pumpkin and brown flowers part of the print. Round the corners and attach the paper to the tag front. For the second tag, use a G45 Regular Kraft Tag. Cut Children's Hour November Montage (reverse) paper to 4 7/8" x 3 3/4". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the front of the smaller tag. Flip all three items over. Trim Time to Flourish November Cut Apart (reverse, orange print) paper to 7 7/8" x 7 7/8" and attach it to the back of the card. Trim the Place in Time November Cut Apart wheat border strip to 7 7/8" and attach to the bottom of the card. Trim three postage images from Seasons Autumn Collective paper and attach them to the top left of the card. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids (gold/yellow) paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4". Round the corners and attach the paper to the back of the longer tag. Add the "Harvest Time" image from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper to the left corner of the tag. Attach a Children's Hour chipboard pumpkin circle to the tag, as shown. For the second tag, trim Time to Flourish November Flourish (reverse, green print) paper to 4 7/8" x 3 7/8". Round all four corners and attach the paper to the back of the smaller tag. Place the card and tags into the pocket. Close the folio and flip to to the back side. Cut Time to Flourish November Flourish paper to 8 1/8" x 8 1/8" and attach it to the back panel. The calendar folio is finished! Add photos and journaling, as desired. November Scrapbook Folio This matching November Scrapbook Folio measures 8" x 8" and is a top-folding folio, decorated inside and out. It is perfect for journaling, ephemera, and photos. Like the calendar folio, this project can be displayed on your desk or shelf during the month of November. We will continue to use the same color scheme and theme as the first folio. The inside of the folio contains four flaps and a two pockets. The pockets are stuffed with fun tags and photo mats. Everything is decorated in a vintage Thanksgiving/Fall theme. We will construct the base for the folio first, and then decorate it. (Please remember, we are using dark brown cardstock for this folio, but some of the photos will show black cardstock. Don't let that worry you!) Cut one piece of dark brown cardstock to 8" x 8". Cut a second piece of dark brown cardstock to 8 1/2" x 8" and score 1/2" from the top edge. Fold and burnish on the score line. Add double-sided tape to the tab. Attach the tab to the top of the 8" x 8" piece of cardstock, creating a top-fold folio, 8" x 8". Open the folio. It is 16" tall and 8" wide. Cut a piece of dark brown cardstock to 4 1/8" x 6 5/8". Score 1/2" from the right edge. Attach the scored tab to the top left panel of the folio. Place the flap 1" from the top edge. The flap will be 4 1/8" x 6 1/8". Cut dark brown cardstock to 4 1/8" x 4 5/8". Score 1/2" from the left edge. Attach the scored tab to the top left panel of the folio. Place the flap 3" from the top edge. The flap will be 4 1/8" x 4 1/8". Now, we will create a pocket for the upper panel. (Sorry, mine looks a bit worse for wear!) Cut dark brown cardstock to 3 1/2" x 9". Score at 1/2" from the right, left, and bottom edges. Add double-sided adhesive to the tabs. (Note: I cut an angled bit off the ends of the tabs, where they meet, to decrease the bulk at the bottom edge of the pocket.) Attach the pocket to the bottom edge of the upper panel, just above the fold. Cut a piece of dark brown cardstock to 6 1/8" x 4 5/8". Score 1/2" from the right edge. Attach the scored tab to the bottom left panel of the folio. Place the flap 1" below the fold. The flap will be 6 1/8" x 4 1/8". Cut a piece of dark brown cardstock to 4 1/8" x 6 5/8". Score 1/2" from the left edge. Attach the scored tab to the bottom right panel of the folio. Place the flap 1 3/4" below the fold. The flap will be 4 1/8" x 6 1/8". Let's create a pocket for the bottom page. Cut dark brown cardstock 5 1/2" x 9". Score at 1/2" from the left, right, and bottom edges. Fold on the score lines and add double-sided tape to the tabs. If desired, trim the tabs at an angle, as shown. Attach the pocket to the bottom edge of the page. Fold all the flaps closed, and then close the folio. We will work on the front cover next. Make sure your main fold is at the TOP of the folio! We will now decorate the front cover. Cut Children's Hour November Montage (reverse) paper to 7 7/8" x 7 7/8". Attach the paper to the front of the folio. Cut Seasons Autumn (reverse) paper to 7 7/8" x 4". Mat with darkbrown cardstock cut to 7 7/8" x 4 1/8". Attach this panel to the left side of the folio, approximately 1/2" from the left edge. Use a decorative border punch to punch a strip of dark brown cardstock. Trim to 7 7/8" long. Cut the "falling leaves" border from Seasons Autumn Collective paper to 7 7/8" long. Affix the punched border to the bottom of the border strip. Place the border at the top edge of the panel. Select the November ephemera card from the Children's Hour ephemera pack (or trim the image from Children's Hour November Collective paper). Mat the image with gold and dark green cardstock, making each layer slightly larger, as shown. Attach the image to the right side of the folio, approximately 1 1/2" from the top edge and 1/2" from the right edge. Use foam adhesive to attach the "Harvest" sentiment, cut from the Children's Hour November Collective paper, to the left side of the image, as shown. Assemble a "bouquet" from some fall-themed flowers and other floral items and glue them to the cover as shown. Add a chipboard button (Time To Flourish collection), tucked under the top edge of the flower bouquet. We will work on the inside panels next. First, we will decorate the top, inside panel, the two flaps, and the pocket. Open both top flaps. We will work on the top base first. Trim Children's Hour November Montage paper to 5 1/4" x 7 7/8" and attach it to the top portion of the panel, tucking the bottom edge into the pocket. Trim Place in Time November Cut Apart (reverse) green check paper to 2 7/8" x 7 7/8" and attach it to the pocket. Trim the November title from the Children's Hour 12x12 Calendar Pad to approximately 1 7/8" x 7" and mat with dark brown cardstock cut slightly larger. (I inked around the edge of the title with some rust colored ink.) Attach the title to the center of the pocket. Let's decorate the flaps, and then make some items for inside the pocket. Start with the left-hand flap. Attach the Time to Flourish November ephemera card to the panel. To decorate the right-hand flap, trim out the Autumn image from Time to Flourish November Cut Apart paper. Attach the image to the flap as shown. Now, let's make some goodies for our pocket! (We will decorate the outside of both flaps after we make the items for the pocket.) We are going to make a large photo mat, two smaller photo mats, and a square tag to tuck into our pocket. Cut dark brown cardstock to 6" x 7 3/4". Cut Place in Time November Cut Apart (reverse) paper to 5 7/8" x 7 5/8" and attach it to the dark brown cardstock. (See the sample above to determine which part of the pattern you should use.) Cut two pieces of dark brown cardstock to 6 1/8" x 4 1/8". Cut the "November" ephemera card from Time to Flourish November Cut Apart paper paper to 6" x 4" and attach to one of the pieces of cardstock. Attach the Seasons "Thankful for the Season" ephemera card to the second piece of dark brown cardstock. To create the tag element, use a Graphic 45 kraft square tag. Cut Seasons Autumn (reverse) paper to 4 3/8" x 4 3/8" and round all four corners. Attach the paper to the front of the tag. Flip all the pieces over to the back. For the large photo mat, cut Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids orange text paper to 5 7/8" x 7 5/8" and attach it to the back of the card. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids brown stripe paper to 6" x 4" and attach to the back of the "November" ephemera card. Cut out a postage image from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper and use foam adhesive to attach it to the upper left corner of the card. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids orange flowers paper to 6" x 4" and attach to the back of the "Thankful" ephemera card. Trim Children's Hour November Montage (reverse) paper to 4 3/8" x 4 3/8" and round all four corners. Attach the paper to the back of the tag. Place all your items into the pocket. Close the left-hand flap. Trim an ephemera card from Seasons Autumn Collective paper to 4" x 6" and attach it to the flap. Trim out the "Warm Greetings" image from Time to Flourish November Cut Apart paper. Attach the image to the flap as shown. Now, let's work on the bottom panel. Open both flaps so you can work on the center panel. Cut Time to Flourish November Flourish paper to 3" x 7 7/8" and attach the paper above the pocket. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids (brown flowers) paper to 4 7/8" x 7 7/8" and attach the paper to the pocket. Trim out the postcard tag image from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the bottom right corner of the pocket. Add a small punched circle (punched from a scrap of paper) to the postcard tag. Let's decorate the flaps. Attach the Children's Hour November ephemera card (reverse side) to the left-hand flap. Add a postage stamp image, cut from Children's Hour November Collective paper to the upper left corner of the ephemera card. Trim the green journal card from Children's Hour November Collective paper to 4" x 6" and attach it to the right-hand flap. Now, let's make some items for our pocket! We are going to make a large photo mat, a small photo mat, and a tag to tuck into the pocket. Cut dark brown cardstock to 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" Trim Children's Hour November Collective (green stripe) paper to 7 5/8" x 7 5/8" and attach it to the cardstock. Trim the November border from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper. Attach the border to the top of the card as shown. Cut dark brown cardstock to 6" x 5 1/2". Trim Seasons Autumn 8x8 paper to 5 7/8 x 5 3/8 and attach it to the cardstock. Trim out two postage images from Seasons Autumn 8x8 paper. For the tag, use a G45 Large Kraft Tag. Cut 1 1/2" from the bottom of the tag and round the corners. Trim Children's Hour Montage paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4" and round the corners. Attach the paper to the front of the tag. Trim a postage image from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the left side of the tag as shown. Flip all the pieces over. Trim November Montage paper to 7 5/8" x 7 5/8" and attach it to the back of the cardstock. Trim leaf border Time to Flourish November Cut Apart paper and attach it to the top of the panel. Trim Seasons Autumn 12x12 Patterns and Solids (brown flowers) paper to 5 7/8" x 5 3/8" and attach the paper to the smaller card. Attach the "Thankful" journaling spot from the Seasons Tag and Pockets set to the right edge of the panel, as shown. Trim Seasons 12x12 Patterns and Solids (orange flowers) paper to 6 3/8" x 3 3/4" and round the corners. Attach the paper to the back of the tag. Trim a postage images from Children's Hour November Collective paper and attach it to the tag as shown. Place all your items into the pocket. Close the right-hand flap. Trim Time to Flourish November Cut Apart (reverse) paper to 4" x 6" and attach the image to the flap. Trim out the fall post card image from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper and mat it with dark brown cardstock. Place the image onto the center of the flap. Trim out a postage stamp image from Place in Time November Cut Apart paper and place it in the upper right corner of the post card image. Close the left-hand flap. Time the "Autumn" ephemera card from Seasons Autumn Collective paper (or use one of the Seasons ephemera cards). Place the ephemera card onto the flap. The inside of the folio is finished! Close the folio and flip it over so that back is facing up with the fold at the top. Trim Time to Flourish November Flourish (reverse) paper to 7 7/8" x 7 7/8" and attach to the back panel. Trim the "Lazy Days" border from Children's Hour November Collective paper to 7 7/8" long and attach it to the top of the panel. And, you are FINISHED with the November folios! It's sneak peek week on the Graphic 45 Blog where I'm sharing this Imagination Steampunk Card made with the fantastic new Imagine Collection. Pop on by and take a peek!
My all-time favorite Graphic45 collection is Communique! You can imagine my joy when they decided to release a Deluxe Collection of this set of papers! Communique was the very first Graphic 45 collection that I purchased, way back in (dare I say) 2008 or 2009. It was the collection that inspired me to try out for the design team in 2010! Since today is my birthday...what a better gift than sharing my ALL TIME FAVORITE paper collection?! Communique has everything I love: a black and red color scheme, typewriters, pens, vintage images, vintage postcards and handwriting, typography, and more! I have always felt that Graphic 45 created this collection specifically for me! I made an 8" x 8" desk-top home decor "card," making it both a card and a gift! This card is suitable for framing or standing on a desk or shelf. I loved this project so much that I had trouble putting it in a box and mailing it off to the office for display at CHA! The 8" x 8" size is new for me. It is that perfect niche between a 6" x 6" card and a 12" x 12" layout, but it's neither! A friend of mine makes large-size cards as gifts and I decided to give it a try! (Thanks for the idea, Katrina!) I may become addicted! I was happy to find some number brads in my stash to create "45" on one of the tags! I also de-hoarded my stash of Stamped Metal Brads. I created some "rusty" embellishments with my own custom mix embossing powder and chipboard shapes. I mixed the rusty keys with some G45 Ornate Metal Keys. I also discovered a faux clay postage cancellation embellishment with "Anaheim" stamped onto it! Perfect for a project on it's way to the Anaheim CHA show! And a project covered in rusty metal is not complete until I add a bunch of flowers! I did a bit of fussy cutting of the pen nibs and the postage images. Fussy cutting is NOT my strong suit, but I do what I can. Here is the inside of the "card." That is 16" of real estate to cover with paper! I wanted this card to be special, inside and out! If I were mailing this to someone, I'd add a gift card holder to the inside, or even give this card along with a suitable frame so the recipient could display the card. I added more rusty gears and some of the collection images. Thanks for joining me today!
