I couldn't help it. I just had to dig into my recent Graphic 45 Design Team box I received earlier this week. Can you blame me really?...
Hello bloggers. I am just settling in from an AWESOME Crop in the Cape event this past weekend. Crop on the Cape is always fun and I LOVE seeing lots of familiar faces and reuniting with good friends. We all share a common bond of art that comes in all different forms and styles. It's so cool to see basically the same products used in so many creative ways. It was also fun to have our LSS Right at Home Scrapbooking at the event. I was reasonably productive after chatting with friends and catching up!! I'm already looking forward to next year!! I am continuing with my "Tag of the Month" project I started last month. Last months tag was to celebrate Valentine's Day. I created a tag using one of the adorable Prima Doll Stamps - you can see details of that tag here. This month I created a tag to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I used Graphic 45's "Place in Time Collection"/March-Cut Aparts. Here's my tag ... I layered several patterned papers, green sheet music, tags and gorgeous gold tulle and then stamped the tag with a script stamp and gesso. I was still in a Graphic 45 kinda mood so I created a second tag using the Couture collection. Here she is ... Couture is a fun collection and I will be using more of it! I also managed to finish my ATC's for next month AND two layouts which I will share this week!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great St. Patrick's Day!!
Usually I am a really slow scrapbooker. Even making a tag or a card can take me an entire day. But sometimes I just have the right papers to work with and my projects come together really easily. That's what happened when I worked on this tag for Graphic 45 with the gorgeous "Couture" collection. This is how it turned out: Normaaln ben ik een uiterst trage scrapbooker. Have a great weekend! Dankjewel voor het langskomen op mijn blog! Heel fijn weekend!
Hope everyone's having a great weekend! Here is my newest mini-album using the Graphic45 Couture paper collection. This is a 8...
I am sure that if you follow my blog or know me at all, you KNOW how much I love any and everything that is Graphic 45! I love bold contrasting colors and seriously, no one does bold rich, bright and contrasting better than Graphic 45. So here I am, with my audition for the Graphic 45 design team. There are so many wonderful and madly talented designers that work utter magic with Graphic 45 that I am just a little intimidated! However, if you don't work for you dreams, they will never come true, so I've given it my best! 1. Let's begin with the really bold and bright Bohemian Bazaar collection. I was immediately reminded of my younger years when flower power and psychedelic colors were the rage when this collection came out! I was inspired to go back in time and create this piece showing a much younger me at a very carefree time in my life. I love making flowers and I made these from the Dazzling Delights paper so that they would perfectly blend with my layout. 2. Birdsong is definitely one of my favorite Graphic 45 collections. Lots of fussy cutting on this layout; Graphic 45 is always so perfect for trimming out their beautiful images! 3. I love this layout I did of my Mom when she was a teenager using Tropical Travelogue. I made flowers from glassine paper and added some Perfect Pearls powder to give this some luster. Then I added fussy cut leaves from the collection to complete my page. 4. One of my favorite color combinations is red, black and ivory; oooh these papers from Birdsong sure fit the bill. This is a paper mache trunk that I altered and it's perfect for storing tags and cards. 5. I loved using the Ladies' Diary collection to make this tag mini with Graphic 45's tag staples. 6. This is one of my favorite Christmas projects that I did with the Twelve Days of Christmas collection. The papers were so perfect for making my little drum gift box. Click here for a link to a tutorial for this project. 7. I made this tag to go with a gift of home baked goodies for a very special person in my life, my poodles' veterinarian. I paired an adorable chipboard poodle with the Twelve Days of Christmas collection to make this tag. 8. What could be better than the Sweet Sentiments collection for making a Valentine's tag for my special man? Here's a link to a tutorial for this tag. 9. My favorite projects of all time are these Steampunk dress forms, trunks and hats. I used Steampunk Debutante for this first dress along with some ruffled ribbon and netting. The trunks are fun to make and are great to use as gift boxes. Here's a tutorial with a template for making them. When Steampunk Spells came out I knew I had to make a special witch's dress and hat. 10. Typography is such a vibrantly colored collection, I really love these papers! I made this thank you tag so that it could double as a card too! It has a little door on the front that opens so that you can write a personal note. Tutorial here. 11. Pictured is a steam operated shovel and what could be more perfect for scrapping these pictures than the Steampunk Debutante collection? Mother Goose is the perfect collection for scrapping the little ones in your life and here is our grandson. I fussy cut some of the adorable images from this collection and emphasized the circular design by using the circle punch outs from the cardstock banners. 12. This is a cigar box I altered as a gift for a friend using the fabulous Couture collection. Then I made a tag to accompany my gift. top top - detail inside inside detail Accompanying tag 13. And finally a banner to decorate my craft room made with French Country! The letters are plain chipboard that I altered, here's a tutorial for the letters. Ok 13 is my lucky number and that's why I have 13 projects! I wish everyone applying for the DT the best of luck! Thanks to all my friends and followers that stopped by to see my Graphic 45 projects. You gave me the courage to submit my work!
Recently I finished teaching a box and card set with Graphic 45's Couture line. I kept the box and cards simple so the set could be made in a 3 hour class. The cards don't have too many thick embellishments on them so 5 could fit in the box. Rather than decorating the whole box I put the elegant peacock paper on the backside of it and made a belly band that slides on and off. The picture and layer behind it are die cut with ovals and the peacock feather is tucked behind them. I put a little piece of black paper behind the heart opening and inked the edges black. I used the whole sheet called "Beautiful" for the belly band and cards. It was the inspiration for this class. Here are the 5 cards. They all have black bases and are A-2 sized. Tiny flowers are made by Maya Road. The pearl and rhinestone flower is made by Maya Road. The scroll die cut is by My Favorite Things. I taught this class 9 times. The boxed set is good for a gift and many students made duplicates. I had a great time designing this class and teaching it too! Stamps: Impression Obsession - Peacock, Graphic 45 Couture Set #3 for insides of cards Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black, Cat's Eye - Blackbird Chalk, Distress Ink - Broken China Paper: Graphic 45 - Couture 12 x 12, Neenah Black Linen Dies: Impression Obsession - Peacock Feather, MFT scroll, Spellbinders Labels 28, Nellie's Dies - Ovals Other: black rhinestones, 2mm pearls, May Arts black lace, Maya Road flowers & Pearl flowers, Envelope Punch Board (for box)
Hi there! Have you played with Graphic 45's new book boxes yet? If not, hop on over to the Graphic 45 blog today to see two examples of these great Staples in use! You'll see a stunning double box by Alberto, and this fun "party in a box" by yours truly! May is a busy time for my family. But "busy" in a good way! We have so much to celebrate: our moms, my friends who are moms, and a couple birthdays (mine and my sister's)! With so many people and occasions to celebrate, it only made sense to make a party decor project that I could use over and over. I chose Graphic 45's fashionable Couture line and regular book box size to make my party in a box! Wine charms! And some "confetti" using the small dots you find from Graphic 45's flower sheets, along with some gold sequins by Teresa Collins. My "party" banner using the artist trading tags, Spellbinders dies and some pretty chipboard hearts by Gina's Designs. Thanks so much for looking! As most of you know I'm crazy about Graphic 45 Papers, Staples and embellishments! Even more so now that the Botanical Tea, By the Sea and Good 'Ol Sport lines have come out. So, I'm auditioning for the 2014 Design Team. This post shows some of my projects for Round 1 of the audition. First up is a card I made with the beautiful Couture paper. Feathers and lace make for an elegant card. The Banners make a perfect layered embellishment in the upper left corner. Here is a card I made with the traditional 12 Days of Christmas paper. The images in this line were spectacular! It was easy to make non-traditional colored cards and projects with it. During the Christmas season I taught a Holiday card class with the 12 Days of Christmas line and these are some of the cards we made in class. We used the fun Tags and Pockets to embellish the cards. I had so much fun with the whimsical Mother Goose line. The strong colors with black made for projects that always popped! Last spring I made a garden scrapbook with Graphic 45's Regular Tag Album and the Secret Garden line. There was a tutorial on Graphic 45's blog and I just had to make one! This is the front cover. Inside the book I embellished with die cuts, fussy cut images, Banners and stickers. Above is the back cover. I used the matching Chipboard and Banners which makes it so easy to put a pretty book together. Last year I taught 4 card classes with the Place in Time line. Above are 3 of the 6 cards we made in the Place in Time 2 class (April, May, June). These classes were my best sellers in 2013. Here are 3 of the cards for the Place in Time 4 class. These cards were good for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I mixed in the 6x6 paper pad from French Country. Another great thing about Graphic 45 is that you can combine different paper lines together successfully! The Secret Garden line was so popular that I did both book and card classes with it! Above are some of the cards from the class. I always use Graphic 45's matching stamps on the inside of my cards. Wish me luck with the Design Team audition!!

On the Graphic 45 blog today you'll find a bazillion photos of this album (along with a gorgeous Sweet Sentiments album by the oh so talented Maria Cole). As I have mentioned a few times, scrapbook layouts are not my forte. When Graphic 45 charged me with creating an easel album using Couture for CHA, I was daunted. I won't bore you with how many hours days this took but I very near wept when it was completed. Going through my collection of old photos I found a slew that I knew would fit perfectly with the Couture collection. Fine ladies in lovely hats and period garb. I imagine these gals would have been rather feisty and a lot of fun. Like mythical aunties. And because not all of us are lucky enough to have such aunties in our family tree, I put together a couple of collage sheets with the photographs I used. If you need a few old gals for your own layouts, the Fancy Aunties collage sheets available at Alpha Stamps. Fancy Aunties 1 Fancy Aunties 2 Here's a few more photos from the Couture album. Great Aunty Sybil was certain Georgina lost her wedding ring leaping from rock to rock across this stream. Grandmother rose bush bore beautiful blooms and fiendishly mean thorns that longed to prick. Always a model of style and civility, Auntie June was the subject of much envy and gossip. Josephine confided in me that she longed for a scandalous coat of crimson. Thank heavens for the entire Couture line of flowers, tags and banners. They certainly made the task a fair bit more pleasant. Want to see more?
