Hi All, I have been having lots of fun experimenting with my Gell Press Printing Plate & Lavinia Stamps to make a variety of Whimsical Cards. I recently bought some Lavinia Stamps from Paperific in Melbourne featuring silhouettes of Fairies & Unusual Plant Images. I was really intrigued by the examples they had on display that included beautiful backgrounds with a glowing moon & misty hills & foliage. The first card I made had a misty background made from Distress Oxide Inks & water. The images were stamped in Versamark Ink & White Heat Embossed. Tim Holtz Wildflower thinlits die used to accent with Glossy Accents for shine. After doing a bit of research on You Tube & Pinterest. I tried to recreate some of the techniques in my own style. The Gell Press Plate I used still had paint on it from a previous project, so I used Acrylic Paints (from Jane Davenport) to try to lift the remaining paint off. I absolutely love the way that these backgrounds turned out on 6x6" white cardstock. I cut a circle from Copy Paper to mask off the Moon above. It looked so beautiful when I lifted it off, that I applied it to the next card to form a gorgeous Moon image. See Below... I then tried to lift the stubborn paint by doing a full print on an A4 page. This resulted in the very cool image I have below which suited these stamped images. I am going to call this 'Morning Has Broken' & will probably frame it eventually. Once my Gell Press was 'clean' I started trying out Distress Ink & Archival Ink backgrounds applied directly to the Gell Plate with a brayer & Stamps. These effects were much more subtle, but still really cool! The Fairies silhouetted by stamping with black Archival Ink. Totally different effects were achieved when stamping direct to paper (above) or onto the Gell plate itself as below. Liquid Pearls & opalescent glitter added to the Moon & dotted on card added a hint of shine. Subtle effects on the stones painted with Art Alchemy Opal Magic paints. These effects don't show up in the photos very well, but look very special in real life. I have lots more examples in the process of being designed. I am improving from these early examples in layering the foreground & backgrounds. I stamped some beautiful sentiments inside these cards. I felt they didn't generally need anything written on the front. I hope you enjoyed this peek. Cheers Deb

A quick play from me this morning using a Lavinia Stamp and stencil. I stamped "Lupin" the hare using Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink, stamping it very lightly as I didn't want hard/solid lines. I used a mask to cover Lupin, while I applied green ink through the Lavinia Stamps "Feather Leaf" stencil. I don't know which colour Archival Ink it was as I just used what was still on the brush, but I suspect it was "Peat Moss". Removing the mask, I then coloured "Lupin" using a selection of Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a brush. The colours I used are: Pink Flamingo, Amber, Mustard, Natural Brown and Dark Mink. I then used a touch of white gel pen in a couple of areas too. To ground Lupin, I used "Pumice Stone" Distress Oxide Ink, applied with a paint brush. Then right under the feet, I used a pencil to create more depth of shadow. Finally, I used a birthday greeting using the Clarity Stamps "Entwined Sentiments" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.
I am absolutely loving the new stamps from Lavinia Stamps, especially this fairy "Aria". As her hair is kind of floating upwards, I decided to make an under water scene as one of my samples. I started by swooshing two Distress Oxide Inks "Cracked Pistachio" and "Peacock Feathers" across the surface of a piece of white card. I used Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink to stamp the three new stamps, "Aria" the fairy, "Luna Lights" the flowers on the left of the fairy and "Pink Orbs" the circular designs Aria is sitting on.I used a pencil to shade the "Pink Orbs". I used two stamps from the existing Lavinia Stamps collection to create the bubbles, "Sea Bubbles" and "Bubbles" both stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink. I used a white Posca Pen to shade the bubbles along with a silver glitter Signo Pen.
I decided to create a monochrome scene using Versafine Clair "Noturne" black ink and "Morning Mist" grey ink. I also used pencils and a white gel pen. I used the following Lavinia Stamps to create this scene: Finn Cherry Blossom Cherry Blossom Tree The Crow Set Tree Scene Small Trees Woodland Fern Small Branch Foliage Set
Hello bloggers! Today is the start of a new Lavinia Stamps challenge, this month the theme is Pastel colours. If you have a blog and some Lavinia stamps you can enter for a chance to win £40 to spend on Lavinia stamps!! Click HERE to go to the challenge blog..... Here's my DT offering for this month, I've used the beautiful Giselle fairy for this card, isn't she pretty? I added some Stickles to her wings and 3D gloss to the bubbles to give it a bit of fairy magic. I used one of the french verses on the little ticket too. In keeping with the pastel theme I thought I'd show you a card I made ages ago using Lavinia stamps. I used PanPastels in the background, they blend so easily! This card used the dandelion stamp and the small pixie. I hope you can join us in the challenge this month! Thanks for visiting my blog, please leave me a 'hello' message so I know you've popped by! Many thanks xxxx
