Happy Friday! I found myself needing a bit of a break, so there was a bit of an unscheduled week there with no sketch. Today however, I am back with a sketch! Here's my card! I wanted to make stamp the word "birthday" all over the balloon, so I did the unthinkable! I cut apart the "happy birthday" image. This allowed me to work at a much quicker pace than if I had to mask or selectively ink just the word birthday. After stamping that, I sponged ink all around the edge to give it some depth. I tied on a little bit of baker's twine and then I moved on to the rest. I really wanted to use this stencil, but it's currently MIA in my craft room. So I decided that I wanted small dots instead. I scoped around my stash for small dots and came across the heart shaped dotty confetti die from PTI's Sprinkles & Shakers set. Perfect, I thought! By positioning the heart die cut carefully, I could control the shape of the sponged dots. It kind of resembled a rectangle and gave the card the extra depth I was seeking! I attached the balloon over top of my dots, and used a bit of tombow multi to place the string exactly where I wanted! Next step- I wanted a popped up sentiment banner. Now that I had that birthday word solo, I stamped just that on a small piece of Orange Zest. Next I die cut the word happy and then covered it with clear embossing. I pieced those two elements together and then placed those over the balloon. It all sounds a touch complicated, but it probably took me just as long to write up the whole process as it did to actually make the card! Supplies: Stamps: Birthday Balloons Paper: White, Orange Zest Ink: Orange Zest, Summer Sunshine, Spring Rain, Black Accessories: Balloon Dies, Happy Birthday Die, Sprinkles & Shakers heart confetti die, baker's twine, clear embossing powder If you play along, please leave a link! I'd love to see what you create!! An InLinkz Link-up
Today concludes Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge over at The Daily Marker. I had a little bit of anxiety in the last leg of this challenge due to very bad toothaches, allergy & asthma trouble, insomnia and countless day to day responsibilities (including church), so it was difficult to keep up, but I am happy and proud to say that I have completed 30 days of coloring. Some days I gave myself a break from copic coloring and used watercolors. I feel it's faster for me to paint with water than it is with markers. My style of copic coloring has intensified during the last year and if I didn't have at least 30 minutes to dedicate to coloring, I was not going to leave something half way. Because I'll never finish it. I decided, for the last day of this challenge, to conquer a fear and take a stab at this gorgeous Stamping Bella stamp called "Bentley", which I purchased online at http://quick-creations.myshopify.com/, and FYI, you can save 10% right now if you use coupon code "DAMARIS10" at check out. The reason I feared "Bentley", is because I struggle heavily with clothes and pleats. Let me explain. When I begin to color an image, I can immediately see (in my mind) the skin color. Where the shadows are. Where the elbow bends. Where the calf muscle and ankles are. I can see the streaks in the hair. The sunlight hitting a particular portion of hair. I can see splitting on the hair at the root. I can easily visualize this. It's almost second nature for me. I can even see a background... with clouds and grass and ponds and leaves; which I think is harder than clothing... But my constant and true struggle is with clothing. I can't see the pleats. I don't know where the sunlight hits. I cannot create mountains and valleys with my markers on dresses or shirts, like I can with hair. It's super difficult. I get comments (especially on Instagram) about my pleats, but to be COMPLETELY honest with you, I get lucky a lot of times... lol. Honestly! Which is why I have decided that as much as I will try, I will never really "understand" it until I take a class. Hopefully by the end of this year I would have taken a class to help me in this area. Until then, I will continue to color and make my cards and enter challenges and grow as an artist. Til then, I leave you with this card. I love the design and simplicity of it. The idea of the faux stitched clouds came after the card was completed. I searched the Stamping Bella website and found a new challenge that I wanted to enter, so I immediately added the stitched lines using a Copic gray multiliner. I like the look and I think I will do it again sometime... (the original [non-stitched] design is below) ...But as you can see I struggled badly with the pleats. Normally I would not share such a catastrophe, but how can I call myself an artist and an inspiration, if I don't share those not-so-perfect moments of my creative process? It's not for anyone to laugh at or stare strangely at. It's to be comfortable with your imperfections, learn to love where you are now, and have the motivation and desire to improve. I want to thank Kathy personally for her challenge. I had a conversation with my husband about this and I'd like to share it with you all. I didn't enter this 30 day challenge with any expectation of winning any prizes that Kathy has offered. What I wanted out of this was growth. I wanted to push deeper into my love of coloring. I wanted to learn a new technique (watercoloring), and I wanted to complete 30 days of being crafty. I believe I have reached that goal, and I appreciate EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has been supportive via facebook, my blog and especially instagram. You all have made me feel so enthused about creating and inspiring you more. Thank you for the encouraging words and love. "Your Kindness Always Blows Me Away". Be blessed and have a Happy Easter! Hello there, I hope you are all well? Today I have a male birthday card to share. It's a simple one but I do like how it came out. I used the Party Balloon die collection from Lawn Fawn, this is the first time I have used it since I bought it and I have to say, it is great! I started off by die cutting the balloon from a panel of white cardstock. I am using the negative to make a window. I took an A2 white card base and blended TH Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass (this pretty much got covered by the other colours in the end), Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire on to it. The panel was added on top with foam tape. The balloon string was cut from more white cardstock and I added this on tot he panel with glue pen. The sentiment, from the Clearly Besotted Many Mini Messages set, was stamped with black ink on to white cardstock and cut out. This was added to over the balloon with foam tape. I finished off by adding a few Doodlebug Sprinkles. SUPPLIES: Here are the links to what I have used on the card. Please click the picture to be taken to where I purchased it. InLinkz.com Thank you so much for visiting me this afternoon (depending on where you are in the world!) . I hope you all have a great rest of the day.
I used the Stampin’ Up! Host Exclusive Happy Birthday, Everyone and the Balloon Celebration stamp sets to create my card to share today.
This week's Make It Monday is stamping focal clusters. This was the perfect opportunity to create simple and easy birthday cards to build up my stash. I created two in the pink/red color scheme for a more feminine look. Then I created two similar cards in a blue/red masculine color combo. They all came together really quickly after work today. Happy Friday! Wow. Where did the week go??? Last thing I remember it was Monday … ahhhh sweet Monday. Craig went to work, kids were FINALLY back at school *lol* and I spent a glorious day tiding, cleaning, sorting and generally "putzing". Bliss. I have no recollection of Tuesday … Wednesday I remember getting my hair done and getting groceries - yesterday is a blur … oh! Now I remember … Tuesday night I had class so was prepping in the day … yesterday was a half day for the kids and I got into "purge" mode … ya - the week was filled with a whole lot of nothing-special-but-busy-every-single-minute. Life of a SAHM, right? lol Today has been relaxing - started the day with Coffee and Cards with a few of my Ladies … but Alicia is home with yet ANOTHER sore throat / start of a cold. Walk the dog, do my workout, tidy up and BAM! Almost dinner time! Just enough time to park my tush on the couch and share one of the cards I made for the Kids Class I taught over Spring Break. Ready? Super super SUPER love!! The lighting obviously sucks but the card is great! Is seriously doesn't get much quicker or easier than this card!!! Perfect for man or woman, young or old … minimal supplies and quick quick quick! I more or less CASEd the card from Pinterest (not really sure how I EVER crafted before Pinterest came along!!). I can't give credit for my card to any one person - I drew from a few … of course I can't find which ones now that I'm looking … suffice it to say that it's sort of original but not really lol. I used Whisper White card stock for the base and Crushed Curry for the mat. For the rest I used: Balloon string from Party Wishes Balloons from the Balloon Bouquet Punch It's My Party DSP Stack Sentiments from Happy Birthday, Evryone Dimensionals and a rhinestone Easy peasy!! The kids rocked it and the adults love it! You must must MUST get your hand on this balloon punch. Seriously. $22.00. It's a keeper and you won't regret it! Gotta run - dinner prep awaits! Pop in again soon to see another quick and easy project. Have a stampy night! Tam

Oh it's a fun one this week at The Paper Players where sweet Joanne has a clean-and-simple challenge for us: Up, up and away! I couldn't resist using my newly arrived Balloon Celebration stamp set...love it! First it's photopolymer, therefore totally clear, and I love stamping with those AND it's got the cutest coordinating stamps to layer. So, this card took me a little longer than I anticipated because a) I was fussing WAY too much about the colors and b) I just can't do random! In the end, I mostly acheived the random whimsical look of the balloons I was after but it was a challenge! I chose some pastel colors, inspired by the challenge badge, for the balloons and ended up with Pool Party, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate. Do you see that little bit of silver glimmer at the end? Ooooh, that's the new Sale-a-Bration product--Metallics Glitter Tape, oh my! It's like glitter washi tape only a little heavier and lovely to work with! This little intersection of colors makes me happy--I like the way they play off each other and the little overlay stamp of dots is so cute! I should also mention that it was the clean and simple lines of the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week that inspired the layout for my creation--thanks gals! I'm also linking up to the Global Design Project where their theme is, coincidently, balloons! I hope you've enjoyed my clean-and-simple card and encourage you to check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team at The Paper Players. Maybe you will join us before the challenge closes on Friday, February 26th at Noon (PST). Thanks for stopping by! There is not much stamping involved with today's card - just a simple, bold sentiment. To create this card I used the new Balloon Bouquet Punch and made the balloons with card stock, glimmer paper, an
Mornin' hens! Today is my good friend LouLou's birthday! She has an adorable four legged friend named Ginger so when I saw this stamp in the dollar bin at Michaels, I knew I had to have it for her birthday card. This was a super simple card to put together and I thought it turned out adorable! I stamped the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored it with Copics. Then I cut the image out and adhered it to the card base using a few foam dimensionals. I added some grounding using my Prismacolor pencils. Then I used a curved edge die and cut the bottom edge of the balloon from some polka dot DP. I adhered this piece with foam dimensionals as well, then I trimmed the top edge of the balloon to match the top edge of the card. I free hand cut a triangle and attached it to the bottom of the balloon and attached some string to it and to the pup's paw too! To finish, I stamped the sentiment and added some faux stitching. That's it for me today! Hello, Stampers! I have a fear of CAS (clean and simple) cards, but I am needing a card for a new baby. Balloon Celebration was the perfect stamp set for the job! This card was definitely fun to make but I still want to add more “stuff” to it. Oh, how I wish I enjoyed the […]
Hi :) I'm come back with a card using Penny Black . I'm using very bright colors because Birthday always so fun!! Here is my card : ...
Earlier this year I got a lovely birthday card from my sister. I decided to copy it with current paper. You can see her card below. My CASEd version features Night of Navy and Whisper White Card Stock , a clean crisp color combo. Balloons make me happy so they are a go to element for birthday cards! I think this card would be great for men as well, though I might leave off the pearls for a guy. I used the fabulous Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and the larger balloon from the Balloon Bouquet Punch, mounting them with Dimensionals. The strings and greeting are from the photopolymer set Balloon Celebration and stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink To give the balloons some dimension I used a stylus on the back side of the punches to give them a convex shape. I also added a punched vellum balloon add a layer to one balloon. I added some Silver Metallic Thread and Pearl Basic Jewels. This is a great way to use those scrap strips of Designer Series Paper. Tip: When punching vellum layer the vellum over printer paper and punch through both -- you'll get a cleaner punched shape. Here is my inspiration. In this card the pink balloon is stamped and a vellum balloon is added over the top. Thanks for looking! Debbie Shop 24/7 from my online store. Don't forget to check great deals in the Clearance Rack

I have a sweet and simple birthday card for you today. If you are at all like me, you are often scrambling last minute for a birthday card. I love being able to create something fairly quickly, that also looks good. I die-cut a handful of balloons from the new Birthday Balloons Die-namics in Smooth White card stock. I sponged each balloon with a different color of Distress Ink. I made sure to leave a little white spot on each one to show where the light reflects on the balloon. I placed the balloons on the card and then drew in the strings with a black pencil. I added a simple Happy Birthday sentiment from the Essential Sentiments stamp set. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see all the gorgeous creations the MFT Design Team has to share with you today.

I seem to have come down with yellow birthday fever! Over at CAS-ual Fridays they're celebrating their first birthday with a birthday theme and at Less is More this week the challenge is to use yellow - put the two together and what do you get? Well how about this: One of the things I've been wanting to try with my new Up Up and Away set is making a flower with the balloons - well here's one version. Pretty bold huh?! To make it, I stamped the balloon wires image in More Mustard on Daffodil Delight card stock (easy to position using my stamp-a-majig!) and cut it out with paper snips. I threaded a thin piece of card stock through my button before adding it to the flower centre. In this shot you can see the scoring on one side of the background. The stem lines up with it and the flower overlaps - that's the sort of thing that makes me happy! I chose the birthday sentiment from the set and stamped it in More Mustard to the right of the stem where it could pretend to be a leaf. Up Up and Away features hot air balloons but it's easy to turn them into party balloons! I paper pieced these, sponging the edges with ink for a bit of dimension and adding a 'shine' with glossy card stock. I thought it would be fun to tie the balloons to the sentiment with a marker. You can just about see the textured card base on this photo (such difficult cards to photograph!) which adds a bit of interest to a very CAS design. Here's what you'll need to make these cards: FLOWER CARD Stamps: Up Up and Away Ink: More Mustard Card stock: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight Other: Daffodil Delight button, 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Certainly Celery, Simply Scored, stamp-a-majig, paper snips BALLOON CARD Stamps: Up Up and Away, Happiest Birthday Wishes Ink: More Mustard, Basic Grey Card stock: Whisper White smooth and textured, scrap of Daffodil Delight Other: Scrap of Patterns designer paper, corner rounder, stamp-a-majig I'd be delighted to order any of these items for you and can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Today's post has yet another entry for the CAS(E) this Sketch's challenge this week...did I say that this sketch was amazing fun??....yeah, it is!! Here's my card and the sketch... I used the same stamp I used for my LAST card, masking and using the star's stems for the balloon strings...I KNOW...I could have hand drawn them...but I'm not very good at that, so this was perfect!! I stamped them with Simon Says Stamp Fog colored ink and after die cutting the balloons (these cute Lil' Inker balloons were stitched and small...LOVE), I sponged them with ink. The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink! I don't think this is the last you'll be seeing of this sketch:)!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa InLinkz.com
