Charcoal and 1 Pastel Portrait Drawings
Faces that express feelings and emotions, we might never find out the cause of. Shima Rabiee describes herself as an Artist / Architect / Designer. Her sketch portraits are the ones that most impress me. With different levels of finish, some of these charcoal people, seem to be phasing out, or into existence. Models that are able to emote are a must, if the artist is going to capture more than just a likeness. In these drawings you can almost feel that extra part of the person, that comes through the look they are giving. We don't know them, yet we feel we understand something about them, if we can interpret what that expression is about. That is why it's so easy for many us to "humanise"; we take what we know of expressions and match them to other humans or animals, to make sense of the face in front or us. The way we extrapolate inner feeling of a person from the way they look, is in my opinion, the reason we love and are so fascinated by portraits. Press the Image to Enlarge it.
