Butter sculpture (torma) is an ancient Tibetan Buddhist tradition and we found such sculptures in all of the monasteries we visited, even though we visited in the middle of summer (although, it rarely got above 15 degrees C). Depicting religious symbols and other stuff, they are often really impressive and it's hard to imagine they are made of just coloured yak butter. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torma Labrang Monestary, Sangchu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture

Michael Tolleson is an Autistic Savant Artist, who has no formal art training, but instead relies on the use of the huge amount of stored information that his Asperger’s mind has observed and retained. During his art career of only 4 years of painting, he has painted more than 600 paintings, and each painting is usually completed in less than one hour of painting time regardless of size. He states that he feels trance-like during the actual act of painting, and is reluctant to take credit for the finished work as he feels the autism is actually the artist.

I have a milestones-themed Garden Girl layout and video up at Two Peas in a Bucket today! It started with the official April moodboard: So spring-y and colorful and happy and fun and lovely. The clouds spoke to me as I just bought a Fiskars cloud punch! Perfect! Here is what I made: BIRTHDAY GIRL by Paige Evans Description: A moodboard with lots and lots of colors! Woohoo! Goodness knows I love using lots of colors and patterns on my layouts! I just got a Fiskars cloud punch and was so happy to see a whole bunch of clouds on the moodboard - it's like my punch was just begging to be used and sent subliminal messages to the designers :) I punched clouds from all of the colors that matched the moodboard from 6x6 paper pads from brands like American Crafts, BasicGrey, Crate Paper, Pebbles, and Studio Calico. Journaling says: Happy first birthday sweet Jane! It was so fun to watch you devour your cupcake and make a huge mess! How to: Punch a cloud from all of the colors that coordinate with the moodboard from 6x6 paper pads. Arrange the clouds into piles of like color: red, pink, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue. Starting at the top of a blue cardstock layout background, begin placing the clouds in rainbow order down the front. Use a glue dot to secure each cloud in place. Add a trio of photos to the bottom right corner. Embellish the clouds with buttons and decorative paper clips (placing like colors on like colors). Design and die cut a title from white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo machine. Adhere the title above the photos and journal with a white pen on the left side. Drop a rainbow of spray mists around the layout. Stamp the date on a darker color of cloud so it blends in a bit. Here is the video so you can watch how I made this layout from start to finish: Supplies: Cardstock, date stamp, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: American Crafts, BasicGrey, Crate Paper, Pebbles, Studio Calico; Buttons, spray mist: Studio Calico; Paper clips: Pebbles (bows), Studio Calico (flags); Pen: Uniball Signo; Ink: StazOn; Cloud punch: Fiskars; Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo by QuicKutz; "birthday girl" cut file: Paige Evans; Font: Soymilk Thanks for takin' a look'! I had fun making this layout and it came together FAST! I was able to film the entire thing during my kids' afternoon nap - love when that happens!
Hi!! I have a new "Inspired" layout up in the Designer Garden at Two Peas in a Bucket! I was so inspired by the elements of this month's mood board. The colors and overall feel of the board is so fun and summery!! Here's a look at my page: I took inspiration from the "you are loved" poster on the mood board and used it as the majority of my page. To add a little dimension to my page, I used the negative of my cut title to mist my background. I love how the mist helps the words pop from the page. And here is a peek at the June mood board. Just awesome! You can read more about this layout, as well as see the products I used over at Two Peas.
