Given that her complete catalogue is composed almost entirely of work she produced as a student, the posthumous critical esteem for American photographer Francesca Woodman is astonishing. Unlike music or math, where precocious displays of talent are not uncommon, photography tends not to have prodigies. Woodman, who committed suicide in 1981 at age 22, is considered a rare exception. That she has achieved such status is all the more remarkable considering only a quarter of the approximately 800 images she produced—many of them self-portraits—have ever been seen by the public.

Art That Heals: The Image as Medicine in Ethiopia examines Ethiopia’s boldly graphic, medicinal healing scrolls. Whereas Westerners have long considered art and medicine as separate realms, Ethiopians consider them to be intimately and inextricably connected.

By Deke Castleman and Sylvan Hardy The concept of punctuality is one distinct example of the differences between the Ecuadorian and North American cultures. Most expats tend to be compulsively prompt and even, by Latin American standards, ridiculously early. Ecuadorians, by contrast, are much looser about being “on time.” A couple years ago, a big […]

The Death of Sappho earrings, present on top side some detail of the impressive oil painting by Miguel Carbonell Selva. The earrings are completely handmade without any industrial process, the details we choose from the painting are the most emblematic. These lightweight earrings represent a story of Greek mythological sapphic art. "Sappho was a prolific poet, Sappho's poetry is still considered extraordinary and her works continue to influence other writers. Beyond her poetry, she is well known as a symbol of love and desire between women, with the English words sapphic and lesbian being derived from her own name and the name of her home island respectively". The back side of the earrings are hand paint with black colour. they are not afraid of humidity or a few drops of rain, but being made of wood it is advisable not to wear them when taking a shower or bath in the sea or in the pool. Furthermore, to preserve the brilliance of the hook, we recommend storing them in a container after use.
Ada Lovelace was a mathematician (and an absolute baller) who is widely considered to have written the first computer program, working with Charles Babbage on his plans for a sort of proto-computer, the "analytic engine".Babbage once entreated her:"Forget this world and all its troubles and if possible its multitudinous Charlatans – everything in short but the Enchantress of Numbers."Which basically meant:"Don't give a single fuck."

The term "living fossil" has been used to describe creatures that retain primitive features, have remained unchanged for millions of years, or are members of species-poor taxa. Many of which, incidentally, are unbearably cute. Here are the most adorable of the lot presented in no particular order.

Cringe is as cringe does. Even though the internet is full of wonderful things like cat pics, wholesome local news, and articles written by yours truly, it’s also home to the vast and spooky wilderness where you’ll find the most bizarre and cringe-worthy posts. And it’s the members of the ‘Cringetopia’ subreddit that bears the heavy burden of documenting the cringiest examples to share (and publicly mock!) with the world. These cringetopians have a duty to show us what to never ever do while at the same time providing us with some hilariously weird content.

"Grief" is a painting by Danish artist Anna Ancher. It is a portrait of women who are grieving, and is considered one of Ancher's masterpieces. The subjects are depicted seated, with their heads bowed and hands clasped in their lap. Their posture and expression convey a sense of deep sadness and sorrow. The work is characterized by Ancher's keen eye for the subtleties of light and color, which gives the painting a heightened sense of realism and emotional depth. "Grief" is considered a key example of Ancher's contributions to Danish Realist painting, and is widely recognized as one of the most powerful and poignant depictions of grief in art.
