This contemporary canvas print of one of my original African art paintings is the perfect living room wall art. It would also brighten up the other rooms in your home and is a suitable and thoughtful gift for any occasion. This trendy art piece is inspired by my love of African masks, Jamaican art, Black art and modern home decor . I combine African and Jamaican themes into all of my art and I give each one a name and story that shows this influence. This is Passa Passa which means "Mix up, Mix up" in Jamaican Patois. The various themes in this painting with its straight lines, curved line, wiggly lines, and dots looks like it's straight out of Africa or the Caribbean. This is an eye-turner that will make a perfect gift for a special friend or family member. Artist: Mafalda Vasconcelos Mafalda Vasconcelos uses art as a way of exploring her biracial identity and the cultural influences in her life. Born in South Africa and growing up in Mozambique, there is an evidence of her cultural background through Mafalda’s visual work. Through learning about her culture, the artist developed a unique artistic style which has a contemporary theme and aesthetic. Now residing in Melbourne, Mafalda continues to explore the female figure and soul, through a mystical concept. The inspiration behind Mafalda's work is symbolism and spiritualism based in her Mozambican culture. The artworks she creates are based on souls rather than real human figures representing her ancestors from the Nharinga people of Mozambique. The stylised and symbolic features that suggest human form and express strong human emotions. Souls are similar to spirits, they transport our energy and emotion and so Mafalda explores that in her art. She portrays the Mozambican women who have raised her and inspire her every day, like her mother , grandmother and great-grandmother. The colourful geometrical shapes and symbols are a language that Mafalda has developed through exploring the visual elements in art and in her own mixed and diverse background. Benon Lutaaya paints to convey an emotional story, illustrating the fragility of life from his own personal experiences. Through his work, he finds expression for emotions shared by many, especially those living on the fringes of the mainstream society. The abstract imagery in his collages represents the act of survival while the text, often obscure, stresses questions of identity within society. In his paper collage and mixed media paintings, he aims to mix paint with vision, collage with story, and text with meditation. Out of these mixtures comes a release of energy imbued with life and raw simplicity. Lutaaya chooses textures to match the painterly play of light and. This allows for a three-dimensional effect on a flat surface, as well as enhancing rich colors and contrast. The work is constantly evolving. ‘I enjoy coming up with something new and unique,’ he says. ‘I love to surprise myself.’

About The Artwork in 2008 i joined a jazz band owned by my dad's friend, shortly after i joined the group i was made the protocol manager, apart from my job description one of the things i enjoyed was walking around the audience from table to table discussing about our jamming and also collecting their special numbers. I bet i was the only Lad enjoying jazz music then because in those days the trendy jam for young people was hip-hop . Those good old days fashioned my musical sense and maybe later in life i'll make use of those knowledge and start music production. “African-American quilts are not simply a set of colours, techniques, or patterns. They’re a celebration of culture by artists who understand and love it best.” Ellison Langford, Scalawag Magazine, 2019 If anyone word could define today’s flourishing culture of African American quilts, it would be ‘diverse.’ Pattern styles are diverse, ranging from densely worked abstract...
