Beauty in the design of the clayarts can purely be the consequence of merging form with function in the most pragmatic way. The method ( pottery wheel ) also has a strong influence on dictating the outcome through the resultant curves and the balance inherent in the symmetry. Graceful lines that flow seamlessly in defining the object can lead to a form that becomes a vision of calm and subtly. Then there are the gifted clay artisans blessed with an innate ability to consistently infuse their forms with beauty and sophistication. This can be further enhanced by their love of creativity and the
The evolution of Art Nouveau In 1893 Edmond Lachenal introduced a new range of matt glazes that became the hallmark of his mature style - mat email veloute ( matt velvet opaque glaze ). It was created by immersing a standard glossy glaze into a a hydroflouric acid bath and stripping it back to a matt glaze. This was highly symbolic of the more formal classical styles being dissolved to usher in a new era. The colourful, soft textured, ethereal glazes were perfectly suited to the dreamy, organic appearances of the emerging Art Nouveau designs. The muted palette
A new body of work inspired by the beauty of night. I call these sculptures Nocturnes: dark, seductive, and sublime. They are absent female forms rising from penumbral garments as figurations of dusk. They build on the tradition of the female nude and probe the tension between humanism and eroticism, the physical and the ethereal, the body and the spirit. The figures are at once intensely physical – muscles and flesh strain against clinging fabric – and yet insubstantial: the figures are absent, implied only by the shapes pressing against the clothing.
Hola amigas!!!

Jippieee! Do these sitting-on-the-table-and-look-pretty objects look familiar to you? Seen them somewhere? Oh yes, maybe in the current issues of Bead & Button magazine or Perlen Poesie. They made it into a full page advertisement of Czech bead manufacturer Preciosa featuring Twin Beads! Yayyyy!!! Oh my, when I learned back in January they had accepted them I almost burst with pride! It took sooooo long from that time to June when they first published it, I hardly could stand the tension. Just in case someone out there wants to beadweave their own little polyhedron (and I know there are, because I've been getting quite an amount of emails about it), in Perlen Poesie (#13) I published a tutorial. The magazine is in German language, but there's an English supplement leaflet with all translations available. I also made one of them in iris blue, pictured from the top side here... ... und hier von unten. Oder umgekehrt. ... and from the bottom side here. Or vice versa.
Black and white ceramic bowls - Mataichi Suzuki Japanese cuisine always guarantees a collection of appealing food, served with artful preparation, while being presented in an environment of tasteful and relaxing decor. Simplicity with refined detail is a feature of the cuisine and is a reflection of the Zen aesthetic that permeates the Japanese arts. Gyoza, miso soup, yakitori, umeboshi/kudzu soup, shushi, genmai tea, soba noodles, tempura, teppanyaki, kukicha, always feature in my selections. Sometimes you are able to witness ceramic wares of high quality which adds to the enhancement of the experience. Akashino Wari Takadai
