This is the A.E. Staley Administration Building in Decatur, Illinois. The company is now known as Tate & Lyle. Ground was broke on February 16, 1929, for this building near the Northeast corner of William and 22nd Streets. It is 14 stories high and 206 feet tall and, at the time, it was the tallest building in downstate Illinois. The exterior features Indiana limestone, 60-foot wide steps at the main entrance, five doorways with bronze arches, and an observation deck enclosed in glass. The building was opened on April 19, 1930, and was called "The Castle in the Cornfields" and "The Lighthouse of the Prairie."
