How to get unstuck in life? Sometimes small, practical changes can be more powerful than you think.
Hi fairies, this year is about to end and I thought there wasn’t a best moment to go through our clothes and get rid of what we don’t wear it anymore , that way we will make room for our new purchases and our closet will look a little less crowded! I know it’s hard to part from some clothes, but sometimes it’s necessary unless we live in a mansion , and most of us don’t! we have to organize our closet , we basically have got no choice! First thing to do is going through all your clothes and divide them in two : on one side you will put everything you worn in the last six months, and on the other side all the clothes you haven’t worn for more than six months, that’s a great start and it will show you how much stuff you saved without even remembering about it! now we’re going to go through each side , starting from the one with clothes you’ve worn in the last six months ( I hope it’s bigger than the other one!) : check them one by one to see if they need to be fixed, for example if there are buttons missing, if you need to trim them or if there are holes in them, and put all those in need of be fixed on one side. Now try to be honest: is there the chance you will get them fixed? Can you sew? Can your mother help you or will they lie there with no chance of being worn? If you think you won’t fix them, then toss them! If you think you still love them and you can fix them, take them! Let’s take a step further and, let’s say you’ve decided to fix them: there’s another question you should ask yourself, which is “ will I honestly wear it again?” if the answer is yes, then it’s worth fixing them, but if the answer is no because they’re old, they’re out of fashion, and you’re not fond of them anymore, then it’s not worth fixing them and you can toss them! You can make an exception for your wedding dress of course, I would never throw it away and I think nor would you, keep it even if you’re not going to wear it anymore, it’s precious! photo from www.readysetsimplify.com Now let’s look through the other pile of clothes, the one you haven’t worn in the last six months: first question you should ask yourself is if they fit properly, and you should take your time trying them out and looking at yourself in the mirror to get an update on how you look with them on, you could ask for your husband or a friend’s opinion if you want, what matters is you’ll toss each one you don’t like how it looks on yourself…I know, it’s hard, but we can do it! At this point you should get a pile of clothes that fit well to go through, and the next question is :will you wear it within next week? If the answer is no because it’s dressy and you don’t wear it on an everyday basis, ask yourself if there’s the chance you might wear it within the next year or so, and if you don’t think so then toss it, if you think you might wear it then keep it. After sorting your wardrobe out following these simple tips , you should now have way more room for new clothes, you should also have gotten rid of old and out of fashion clothes that I suggest you to give to charity or to your local church, there are many people in need and they will sure be happy to get new clothes ! as for you, well, it’s good to start fresh, isn’t it? We deserve a shopping spree for being so good! Happy New Year! Buon Anno!
