I made a dormer. The painting on this side is done, just some lead for the roof, the balconies, railing and shutters. Because I have a dormer, there is room for a little guest-room. I also used the beautiful lace that Mercedes give me as curtains, it is just perfect!!

INSPIRATION PHOTOS:
I just finished a commission for Linda. It's a half scale custom dollhouse English style. It has an oval base. And I left room for Linda to put her potting shed and garden set. The little fairy door inside the dollhouse. The stone chimney has flowering vines. The interior is well aged and cozy. This is the kitchen. The old fireplace is the space for Linda's Aga stove. Living room. The rose wallpapered bedroom. And a bathroom. Thanks Linda for the project! Linda will send pictures once she's all done decorating Miss Read's Cottage. And I'll share them with all of you. She's already made some purchases that are out of this world cute! Thanks for stopping by!
My little dollhouse for Puki puki, by night ^__^
Easy peasy but very effective, this is a little tutorial in how to make balls of wool for the knitting basket in the dolls house. You will need: some fine 2ply yarn, a plastic drinking straw, a darning needle and some ball bands (I took an existing yarn band, scanned and amended to my own 'brand', reduced it in size, and printed it off), and some glue. Cut the straw into small lengths of about 1cm (half an inch) or so. Thread the needle with plenty of yarn and double it up. Holding the end to start, thread it in and out of the straw until it won't take any more, making sure it is completely covered. Cut off any loose ends. Cut a yarn label and glue into place around the ball of yarn. You can make lots in a very short time!
Dolls' house known as Devonshire Villas made in England in about 1900
By the time our first annual Good Sam Academy of Miniatures was history, we had lined up eight fine instructors for the second annual Academy. In the next 8 weeks we will introduce each of them and some of their work. By March we should have pictures of what they will teach in 2014 from Oct. 13-17, immediately after the Good Sam Show. We will have some pictures of the 2013 Academy soon. Our first instructor is Nell Corkin, an IGMA Fellow who resides in Michigan. Nell specializes in 1:144 size miniatures, which is the size a dollhouse would be that was inside a 1:12 size dollhouse. Her first picture truly demonstrates that.
