This Mandala is made by a new member of my shop, my daughter Elizabeth! Her Mandalas often highlight a spiral gradient that matches the dot gradient going from the center to the edges. You have to really study it to see it’s beautiful uniqueness. She also loves working with tiny Mandalas, perfect for carrying in your pocket or purse! These rocks are hand picked from the shores of Lake Ontario, carefully chosen for their unique round or oval shape. Each beautiful rock is hand painted in a one of a kind pattern with acrylic paints. The rock is then sealed with 2 coats of clear, matte finish, sealer to be durable indoors and out. Sometimes the stones have little indents/inconsistencies but they are out of a lake, not a factory! While the rocks are safe to put outdoors, they will only last for a couple of years. After that, they start to look weathered. It is also not safe to submerge them in water. I definitely recommend keeping the mandalas indoors for a long lasting treasure! They make great paperweights, door stops, window and shelf decorations. A perfect little, bright spot on your desk, too! They are very unique gifts for anyone. Please handle with care - scratching, picking and hard pressure will affect the paint job, but definitely take the time to touch the mandalas! Enjoy!
Art is not something that happened in one era and that too when human beings were in a position where their basic needs were taken care of and they had the luxury of time and leisure to indulge in artistic pursuits. In fact, if you would notice art still existed when humans had to forage for simple needs like food, shelter and clothing. What else would explain the fact that the most ancient of tribes still found the time and wherewithal to create some form of art or the other? We should take the time to appreciate the fact that people who had to struggle to survive took the time to make something that was pretty. Art in those days was not only for sensual appreciation but was also a means of recording their way of life. Take complex yet beautiful aboriginal art examples, you will see what we mean.
