For more beautiful CERAMICS & TABLE DECOR visit and bookmark our website: https://romantiques.com.au/collections/ceramics-tableware You can buy with confidence from our eclectic range of genuine vintage and antique items. Our customers know that buying vintage is good for the planet, while we also get something that was made with quality and endurance in mind. Over the years we have collected hundreds of beautiful examples of early to mid 20th century porcelain and earthenware produced mainly in England and Europe by reputable potteries. As manufacturing of these products in most cases ceased around the 1970s, the surviving items will become ever more precious. Please remember that signs of wear and flaws in vintage items actually add to their charm and tell us a story, that’s why we love them! When the description mentions “crazing” (a network of fine lines in the fired glazed surface of pottery) in some cases that is accidental or deliberately produced/accentuated as a desired effect.

This is an original collagraph print by Amelia Bowman featuring a row of dry docked boats. It is from an edition of 10 printed on 300gsm Somerset Soft White printmaking paper which is a lovely creamy colour. The size of the print area is 26.5x37cm approximately with the edition number, title and artist signature adding another 2cm at the bottom. The piece is supplied unmounted to keep the package size down for shipping. A collagraph takes its name from the word ‘collage’ as it is essentially a collage made on a rigid surface such as thick card which is then varnished, inked up and rolled through a print press against dampened paper. The edges and surfaces of the collage form the lines and textures of the print, which is transferred onto the paper on its way through the press. Extra colour can be added to the printmaking process by way of an additional technique called ‘Chine-Collé’ which involves the lamination of extra papers to the print as it goes through the press. Amelia uses her own pattern designs in the Chine-Collé process and each edition is named after the pattern design or designs used, this being 'Michaelmas Daisy' which is the pattern used on the far left boat hull. Please note that your collagraph will be from this edition but will feature very subtle variations from the one pictured as each collagraph print is hand inked and pulled thus making it impossible to produce two truly identical pieces. Because the paper is off-white it is very hard to get an exact colour representation because the scanner gets confused (!) but I have edited the image to be as close as possible. Please be assured that each piece is of the same high quality and that I never sell pieces that I am not entirely happy with. All collagraph prints are archival meaning that they should not deteriorate in appearance over time. However, as with all original artwork, I strongly recommend that they are not hung in direct sunlight. The collagraph print will be shipped flat. Tazia Fawley’s Raging River is a joyous riot of colour and movement. Tazia is a 52 year old artist from Somerset, an artist who just happens to have Downs’s Syndrome. Tazia has exhibited in numerous art exhibitions and hopes that her successes as an artist will go some way to dispel the limiting stereotypes of people with Down’s Syndrome. “This is one of my favourite paintings, because I really like the feeling that the river is running swiftly over the rocks. I made patterns out of the trees and bushes and simplified their shapes, so in many ways, it is quite abstract." Raging River is printed on high-quality 330gsm Fedrigoni card. This is a large A5 card.
One night as I was walking back to my mountaintop palapa along the beach in Zihuatanejo, I felt something run across the top of my foot, then another. I looked down to see dozens of baby turtles zipping their way to the ocean waters. The full moon was just rising on the horizon, and I could just see by the moonlight the turtles swimming out to sea. I envisioned this lovely moon mother sweeping them all up into her hair, and carrying them safely to their new life in the sea.
