Hi ~ Dylusions stencils and stamps are among my favorites! The sprays and paints too. But the silhouette stencils must be my favorite of all! I find I can create so many different looks with them and I've even made my own silhouettes too. Recently, in the Dylusions Facebook Group (HERE), several people have shared their creations using Dyan Reaveley's journaling block technique for altering the pages for fun shapes. Dyan has made a youtube video and you can find it HERE. She has tons of technique videos... just plug her name in youtube or on google. Soooo, as I was writing... several people have shared their creations recently and it inspired me to finish a set that had been hanging out in one of my journals for quite a while. Those colorful little flaps in the middle are made with the shape of the Dylusions journaling block. These are the pieces that were cut off of a set of pages elsewhere in the journal. Don't throw them out! Tape them back into the journal in a different spot! Some people refer to taping things in on a hinge as "tip-ins." I just use washi tape and if it needs reinforcing, I will glue the tape down as necessary as time goes on. As you can see, my bits were narrow, but they are fun! I just did doodles on the smallest. This is in a large dylusions journal. Every thing on these pages is all Dylusions. They are all independent pages, but I did coordinate the colors. Backgrounds are the paints with stencils. No sprays this time. The bold leaves and polka dot leaves are stamped. The only thing not Dylusions is the magazine cut-out of the dress on the right-hand page, my own handwriting, and my hand drawn doodles. Following are pics of the progession as each flap is turned.... Smile! Laugh! Love! Art! It's a good mantra.... :) Thanks for visiting! Have a creative day!

Hello Everybody and Happy Friday! Now you know lately I've been really getting into Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Inks Sprays and Stamps. Let me tell you why... I'm having the time of my life. Why you ask? Simply put, working with Dyan's goodies is so much fun!!! The designs are off the wall and out of the box, whimsical and totally a kick in the pants! There are some of you who may not have met Dyan yet, here is a bio I swiped from RangerInk.com....(hope they don't mind)... Mixed Media Artist Dyan Reaveley's unique eclectic style comes through in her vibrant color combinations of inks and paints, using text as an insightful design element and the clever use of imagery in her artwork. Dyan teaches and demos with Ranger and is known for her creativity with layering color, images and thought-provoking collages. Dyan owns and operates a teaching and design studio Art from the Heart in Harrogate, in the north of England. Dyan's mission is to introduce everyone to the fabulous therapy that is art journaling and creating mixed-media art. I had the coolest opportunity to meet Ms. Reaveley at CHA in what was it... July? I fell madly in love with Dyan, but don't tell her! I came home totally inspired and ran to the nearest store to purchase anything Dylusional! Now, I love Three-Dimensional art. I love to look at something and figure out how to make it from chipboard, even if it looks like it's impossible. I mean LOVE!!! That's my fun! Then add to that the excitement of covering it with the perfect paper....HEAVEN! God knows I love me some Graphic 45 to cover it with too! LOL! Now I'm not a stamper, sprayer or inker...yet I own the required nine million stamps, ink pads and color mists because...I don't know why...well...that's just what we do. But, there is something magical that happens when I play with the Dylusions stamps and ink sprays. First, It's a total departure from what I know and do. Second, I begin to let go....That folks is worth a million Dylusions Stamp sets! I just plain old let go and have fun. Not thinking about what the outcome may be. Not trying to match colors or designs, just having one of those, "Let it all hang out" kinda times. Like who cares whether something not perfect. To me, the imperfections make it just that much better! Ahhhhhh! So, Dylusional I've been lately! Tonight I wanted to share a project I created with the Dylusions stamps and spray inks. My first attempt at 3-D Dylusional Art....Need a bit of practice but what the heck! I was having fun! Of course me being the king of chipboard as one of my followers suggested...(Can I say that, or is that my male ego kicking in???? If so pardon me! I surely don't want it to be...LOL!) I decided to make a quirky boxed scene! I drew my inspiration from one of the stamps...Traveling Travis...The "suitcased" figure on the right of the picture below. Hope you like it as much as I had making it... Hello and Happy Wednesday! While I love the 2 online artsy courses I'm taking, I wanted a break this week. They are great courses and started out with a big bang this year with both of them being in-depth and wonderful lessons. Definitely getting a lot out of them with such detailed and lengthy videos and I'm grateful for learning so much. I haven't had a lot of time in the studio this week, so I didn't really want to dive into more lessons that makes me concentrate so much. hahaha Maybe it is because we are having an un-seasonably warm spell - very warm - 70 for us today, which is very unusual for February - and I've been spending more time outside again. When I create portraits, I really do like to have a longer session in the studio because I "get in the zone". Art journaling can be quick and it's easier to walk away from when other duties call me. I just need a housekeeper and a chef so I can live in my studio!!! Any wayyyy.... here are the pages created this week so far. These all had some sort of blot-off or mop-up left-overs on them. And all are in a large dylusions journal. The starting leftovers on the above page were 3 items: (1.) some modeling paste scraped off the "art is" word stencil to scrape off the excess, (2.) the 2 silhouettes on right side were cleaning off black paint with a baby wipe from the stencil, and (3.) the silhouette on left side is a stamp off. Also looks like maybe white gesso was scraped on with a palette knife. No telling what I do! haha I added the background color with dylusions ink sprays. I added the border doodle, cat girl, words, india ink for "ground", and paint circles. I find myself saying these words when I go out. I like going places, but I am so over the rude and stupid people! The existing leftovers above were the paint palette & "artist" with modeling paste, therefore it's raised, but it just doesn't show up in the photo. This page stayed white like that for ages.... waiting on me. I sprayed the entire page with various dylusions spray inks and also through some dylusions stencils. The heartbeat (of an artist I like to think!) is a dylusions stamp. Then I added some paint to the palette, went over "artist" with black, and scribblily wrote in the top section. The leftovers are all the greens... paints scraped and brushed on as I was painting a canvas. Then all the shapes you see is one big stencil, which I sponged dylusions london blue paint through. It's a 9x12 StencilGirl Stencil and I love that you can make a quick page using the entire design or can use it in little sections to add interest on a project. The words are a Wendy Vecchi stamp. I don't do many double page spreads any more, but they are fun when I do. No leftovers on this page above. Background is all dylusions ink sprays and stencils. The "i am an artist" is one stencil. The large figure is my favorite one I cut myself from a magazine image. The smaller silhouette is a dylsuions. The hearts are Dina Wakley Media stamps and the words are a Wendy Vecchi stamp. The leftovers on this page is the Dylusions ink sprays where I used this page as a blot page. The stars in the background I am pretty sure is a Joggles stencil. The face is also a leftover. She is Abigail, a StencilGirl stencil. I used her on something else by spraying a black paint mixture that I make. So on that project, the stencil was turned over making her face the other direction. I sprayed through the stencil so I only got the face outline, eyes, lips, etc (what you see here in color) in black. There was all the excess over spray sitting on the stencil. You know me, I can't let it go to waste. So I spritzed lightly with water, turned the stencil over and pressed it onto this page! She turned out so cool that I just didn't want to cover her up with anything! When I was looking at this page yesterday, I remembered this word stamp I had. It goes because it's a simple page really. AND.... like I always say.... there are NO rules in art journaling. Just do what makes you happ! The word stamp and vintage looking gal are both stamps in a Wendy Vecchi set. That's it... thanks for visiting.... and I'm off to the art studio to play some more! Hope you make time to be creative this week!
It's time for another challenge over at Try it on Tuesday and this time it's ' Feminine and Fancy', and as always it's up to you what you create as long as it follows the theme. I have used the Tim Holtz Doily stencil for my backgrounds, first with Black soot Distress ink and then on another panel with a mix of of bright inks. My Dylusions 'lady' was stamped onto this panel and embossed with Clear EP and then again on black card and embossed with White EP before cutting out. The quote is an Inkylicious stamp, and for my colourful flower - I used TH Tattered Florals Big and strip dies, on cotton and randomly coloured with Distress inks. My teamies all have very different creations to show, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details. I am entering this at: Stamping Sensations - Anything Goes Creative Romance - Girly Crafty Catz - Embossing Stamping for the Weekend - For the Girls That's it for now, hope you all have a great week.
