Final compilation of sketches from 10 weeks of classes with the great Peter hHan and his Dynamic Sketching (Vis Com) class, had a lot of fun visiting all the museums and places, I've learn so much from this class and I'll definitely recommended to anyone, you get to draw different stuff you wouldn't do normally, it feels is great! hope you like the selected artwork! you can check more of this class and other classes at the Concept design academy in Pasadena http://www.conceptdesignacad.com/ Mechanical and man made sketches Organic Shapes and forms
My Dynamic sketching class work from this term. Rest in peace Norm.. and thanks for everything. Drawings are from field trips from the Gene Autry, L.A. Zoo, Tank museum, Plane Museum, Nethercutt Museum (cars), La Brea Tar Pits, Arboretum, and some from imagination
UPDATE Concept aquatic creature thing: Initial Sketches: Painting of a Manta: Peter Han (our Viscom 1 teacher) was super awesome and decided to hold a bonus class field trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. After being a lazy bum during this break, I was eager to meet up with class mates and get drawing again! It's a really nice aquarium, but the price is pretty high ($22/person and $8 parking). But the displays and aquatic life were wonderful. Drawing at this location was tough because there were tons of kids bumping into you and a lot of the displays are in a dark room. I had a lot of fun though! Here are a bunch of on-site sketches from the trip:

During my 4th Term at Art Center College of Design, I decided to replace my major's Viscom 4, with the Product Design Vis4. I found that this class taught by Peter Han and TA's Xiao Qing and Patrick Park was a wonderful way to get back to the basics of hand drawing from observation. For our final, we had to scan all of our work from the entire term (14 weeks) and create a book. There were no requirements as to what the book should look like, alongside with the final presentation of the book. These images show a few pages from my 144 page book that I self bound. I used a traditional simple Japanese Stab Bind. In turn, I found my inspiration from traditional Japanese packaging methods. I also wanted to incorporate the idea of getting back to basics, back to nature. My mojo for the term and for this class was "let it go. let if flow. let it grow." The characters on the front of my presentation means "to grow." I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did. Thank you for your time!

UPDATE: This week, we were to re-design something using a plant-themed mindset. I chose to do a plant-based theme park! I drew a couple different rides that were based on different plants that we saw at the Arboretum: We visited The Arboretum this week. Drawing a lot of plants and scenery. As usual, felt pen, tone paper, marker, white pen. I'll be working on a 're-design' project for this week's HW pretty soon.. will update soon.
For those of you who have seen my blog before, you'll note that i've already taken Dynamic Sketching with Will Weston. I decided to also take the class with Peter Han, because of the two teachers differing approaches and interests. There are aspects of both classes that I like, and I think I have figured out a mix of the two that works best for me. Here is some of my favorite work from Peter's class. He also teaches classes at Concept Design Academy, so I highly recommend everyone take him! The Community Violet is my main Character. She escapes her censored community once she realizes how much is kept from her. She escapes to the unknown wilderness, and reconnects with the Earth as her only means to survive. Bean the Bat Bean Glider I wanted this character to play a practical and crucial part in Violet's survival. Based on Da Vinci wing designs, I created a harness for Bean that attaches to Violet's back. When attached, she uses Bean's wings to glide over large gaps in the earth and steers using handles, making Bean similar to a hang glider. Violet's Steam Boat. I learned the different parts of a steam engine and tried to design a river boat made from old parts that Violet may find lying around.
