Artist ~ Micell A.

Description From the anthology edited by Gardner Dozois, commissioned and published by Bluejay/St. Martin's Press, 1987 This was originally a art school assignment, whose criteria was only that there be a "train" in the art. It was one of those assignments in which I took the advice of one teacher who said "listen to what they don't say, as well as what they say..." So, it became a futuristic setting, and, although at the time, there were some chuckles among the students, this ended up as a paid book cover 7 years later. As with nearly all anthologies, the cover is there just to give a "feel" for the book. Oil on masonite, 16" x 22"

Its troubled birth in 1982, which included being a box-office failure, didn't stop Ridley Scott's film Blade Runner from becoming a timeless futuristic

Tullio Crali, Study for a Woman's Dress. In 1920 Volt published Manifesto della moda femminile futurista. In Volt's manifesto, woman is now a principal agent of revolt, a "walking synthesis" of the audacious, performance oriented aesthetic of the Futurist universe. He announces that "women's fashion has always been more or less Futurist." The Futurist hymn to progress reaches new extremes ("Women's fashion can never be extravagant enough").
