Most of us find architecture fascinating. The built environment around us reflects the history and culture of a place that can shape our experiences and perceptions of an area. However, not all the buildings stand the test of time and many are left to decay. For some, they become unwanted ghosts of the past; for others, they are objects of mystery and awe.

Stev’nn Hall (previously) blends photography and painting together in an impressionistic style, often focusing his works on the rural landscapes of his Canadian home, or images of flowers he takes in his studio. The pieces are built from images shot with a 35mm camera, and feature gestures on the surface in the mediums of acrylic, ink, and pastel. These markings serve as both complements to the landscapes and abstract bits of scrawl, simultaneously pushing the underlying photograph to appear more like a painting, and Hall’s painted additions to seem like photographic errors. "Evening By The Pond" Giclee edition print - printed especially for you! The second photo from the top shows the print in the matte. The signature and title will be added per order, so that's not shown in the photo. I have also included a photo of what this might look like framed and hung in a room setting! image size: 11" x 14” matte size / frame size 16” x 20” A stock size frame should be easy to find, and you can just pop this print right in! Each print is signed and titled on the matte, and dated with the year the original painting was done on the reverse. Each print includes foamcore backing, mounted print, matte and is individually bagged in acetate. The mattes I use are all white – white reflects color from surrounding objects, so no matter where you hang this print or want to move it around your home, the matte will pick up reflected color from the room! Plus, it really makes the color in the prints pop. This print will be made specifically for you! Specifics: This print is reproduced from an original painting by me, Jan Schmuckal. It is printed in-house on lovely, Epson Watercolor paper. I experimented with many different papers before I settled on this one: It is archival, water-resistant, fade-resistant, and has a beautiful richness! My prints are made using Epson Pigment Inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade for at least 120+ years. COPYRIGHT: I retain all copyrights to my artwork. ALL MATTED PRINTS SHIP VIA USPS PRIORITY MAIL - you are paying actual shipping costs plus materials for shipping. Please be patient with shipping delays caused by circumstances beyond my control with postal processing facilities. EVERY package I ship goes thru the Chicago USPS hub. No refunds due to shipping delays will be issued. I'm working hard to ship weekly to avoid any extra delays beyond my normal processing time. A note: if you live in an apartment building, and you MAY live in a building with good neighbors, or a doorman, or in a splendid neighborhood....but I can't tell that....so I will require a signature on orders shipped to an apartment or suite.

The first time I fought back against a man, it was a boy. I was twelve. It was snowing. The boy in question had been trying to force my friend’s face into a snowbank while she wept. I don’t remember his name, or what he looked like, or much about what happened save the rage I […]

A guide for those planning a trip to Scotland and looking for Isle of Skye and Scottish Highlands itinerary ideas. Spectacular landscapes, castles, mysterious lochs, waterfalls, tasty seafood dinners, and Highland coos are a few of the many treasured memories associated with our Scottish Highlands itinerary. The Highlands make up the north western part of Scotland, and designate a primarily historical divide with the Lowlands area where there were once much larger cultural and language divides. Although a huge land area, the Highlands and the northern islands of Scotland are sparsely populated, primarily rural, rugged, and full of biodiversity. This area is perfect for those looking for natural beauty and a sense of peace. We did this first trip to the Highlands and Isle of Skye with Edinburgh-based small tour operator Rabbie's Travel, and we'll share our own trip experiences and lots of photos on that tour! We'll also provide the general Scottish Highlands itinerary that we followed for those who may be thinking of putting together their own independent Scotland trip itinerary.
