Osteospermum 'Sennen Sunrise' is a compact variety that is perfect for containers, rockeries and the front of sun-baked borders. The glossy evergreen foliage becomes covered in dazzling daisy blooms throughout summer and into autumn. Pale pink petals with darker pink veins and flushes of white at the tips surround a deep indigo-purple centre, which is accentuated by a bright halo of golden orange pollen. Thriving in a well-drained, sheltered spot, this hardy African Daisy will triumph over heat, drought and light frosts. Low-maintenance and easy to grow, these compact, uniform and superbly cheerful plants will withstand neglect and become some of the longest-flowering in the garden! Height: 25cm (10in). Spread: 30cm (12in).Culinary note: The bright coloured flowers can be used as a garnish or in ice cubes to add an extra dimension to summer drinks. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Very large, highly fragrant flowers. A classic plant.
Appealing in most seasons, Andropogon gerardii 'Indian Warrior' (Big Bluestem) is a warm season perennial grass forming an upright clump of stems with flattened leaves which emerge dark green in spring and turn red with purple dusky tones by midsummer. As the cooler weather arrives, the foliage changes to deep purple by mid-fall. Flowering stems rise in late summer above the foliage bearing glossy deep purple, 3-parted, finger-like flower clusters, resembling turkey feet (hence the common name). Perfect for providing height and color to the garden, Big Bluestem is drought tolerant, requires very little care, is virtually disease and pest free and provides months of interest. This long-lived architectural grass has a variety of uses, including screening, naturalizing, restoring prairies, and nesting materials for birds and mammals.

Sturdy flowers for exposed positions
Santolina pinnata subsp. nepolitana (Green Santolina), a favorite of Mediterranean gardens, is a beautiful evergreen shrub noted for its attractive foliage, profuse midsummer show of long-stalked, button-like bright yellow flowers. Aromatic if bruised, this compact variety of Santolina features thinner, pinnate, gray-green leaves that have a more feathery look, a finer texture and more graceful demeanor than Santolina chamaecyparissus.
