Seit über drei Jahrzehnten liegt eine Fülle von Forschungsergebnissen vor, die sowohl im familiären Bereich als auch im Bereich Pädagogik und Therapie die Responsivität der Bezugspersonen als den eigentlichen Wirkfaktor für Entwicklungs- und Bildungsprozesse bei Kindern bis drei Jahren erachten (Bornstein 2002, H. Papoušek & M. Papoušek 1987, Eshel u. a. 2006, Remsperger 2011, Gutknecht 2012, Sarimski 2012). Als Bezugspersonen gelten dabei auch die pädagogischen Fachkräfte in einer Kinderkrippe oder Kita. Responsivität kann mit »Antwortlichkeit« oder »Antwortverhalten« übersetzt werden, häufig wird eine Bedeutung im Sinne von »sich auf jemanden abstimmen« zugewiesen.
