In part an updated version of Doig Simmonds and Nancy Stansfield’s classic 1971 book on adire, this new work is without doubt the most useful and comprehensive book on the Yoruba tradition of indigo resist dyeing to date. Although published as a print on demand book and with budget limitations apparent in the reproduction of some images the authors add new material such and have drawn together the most important of previous sources, including Jane Barbour’s important articles, and an interesting article by John Picton that even I had missed. I have scanned the back cover, contents page and a typical page below. Click on the photos to enlarge. The book may be ordered direct from Doig at [email protected] priced at GBP18 plus postage.

HIYA i'm still working on the free art i'm including in shop orders from last week. if this applies to you, i think all packages are going out this afternoon or tomorrow morning. the pieces are almost complete but i want to make sure the paint is all dry before i slip them in the packages. in other news: i made emily dickinson's coconut cake which turned out kind of hard and dry but that hasn't stopped me from cutting the frosting layer off the top and eating that with my hands. there are crumbs all around my feet as i type. the dog just started licking them up. also, i'm watching this documentary right now and i really like it. i think you can watch it all on you tube as well. i guess that's it. tired brain. can't think of anything else. x liane
