This instrument was commissioned by a fellow that performs in a group playing an electrified 21-7/8" scale acoustic guitar with a piezo pickup on it. He tunes it E-A-D with heavy strings. It is his thing, that's what he does. Who am I to question his thing? I am here to help. So, I suggested that I make him a Luddite version complete with a three pole-piece humbucker pickup and special custom hardware. I love this kind of thing. He called my bluff and here it is.

Custom — Studio Luddite
The Peregrine Luddite is a slightly streamlined version of the Super Luddite. It enjoys all of the special circuitry of the Super without the carved top and the set neck. Binding is also absent; instead the body features a minimal round over on the top and back. The chambered body has a Cambodian Rosewood cap with a beautiful book-matched center sapwood detail. Let me emphasize again that I truly feel I have stumbled upon a very special design. Even though its 12th fret body join, non-adjustable steel truss rod, and a slotted headstock are basically antique concepts, sonically this guitar has so much to offer that one can easily forgive its lack of modern appointments, which are mostly for fashion anyway. The sound of this guitar turns heads every time.
The Luddite Amontillado guitar was commissioned to fulfill a request for an acoustic instrument that would primarily be used with an under-saddle transducer plugged into an amp. This application is renown for having feedback problems.
