Sea Level Childhood's End Gallery222 4th Ave W Olympia, WA 98501Opening Reception October 7, 2022 5:00 - 7:00PM The reception is taking place on the first night of Olympia's Fall Artswalk Work will be on display at the Gallery September 30 - November 13th, 2022 Childhood's End is Olympia's oldest and most established gallery, winning the Olympia Business of the Year Award last year in 2021. It is a family owned and operated gallery that is a landmark of downtown Olympia. The gallery has a long standing well kept mural of Japan's Katsushika Hokusai's famous wave painting Under the Wave off Kanagawa. The gallery is known for featuring a huge variety of local art and bringing the community in to see and experience it. I will be showing a new set of work including smooth blue water surfaces inspired by the Puget Sound, just steps outside of the gallery at Percival Landing. I will also be showing luminous ocean waves inspired on the Washington Coast, just an hour drive from Olympia. Here's a peak of what will be at the show... There is a “rush” that comes from painting in front of your subject, whether it is a figure, still life or the outdoors landscape/seascape that one cannot experience in the studio. While I love the experience en plein air, I do most of my larger seascape and landscape paintings in the studio.
