Quién es la Diosa? La palabra "Diosa" se refiere a un Ser Divino Femenino. Alrededor del mundo, y durante miles de años, la mayoría de nuestros ancestros veneraron a una Divina y muy Poderosa Madre-Diosa. Ella fue honrada como la Madre de Toda Vida. Arqueólogos modernos han descubierto numerosas estatuas y artefactos que verifican la veneración de antiguas deidades femeninas. De dónde proviene la idea de una Diosa? Los primitivos humanos dependían de la Tierra para todas sus cosas: comida, protección... Era la proveedora de todo lo necesario para la vida... y también la vida misma. Ellos habían notado que toda la vida era creada a partir de los cuerpos de las hembras (tanto mujeres como animales), de modo que encontraron natural la idea de que existiera una Creadora Femenina Todopoderosa también. Se han encontrado numerosas imágenes de diosas en pinturas rupestres, figuras talladas y pequeñas esculturas que datan de 35.000 años antes de Cristo o tal vez anteriores. Algunas de esas imágenes fueron llamadas "Venus" y tal vez la más famosa de todas sea la Venus de Willendorf. La mayoría de estas figuras femeninas de diosas muestran seres redondos, abundantes y serenos. Las amplias y generosas formas simbolizaban prosperidad, libertad y seguridad. Es la Diosa sólo para Mujeres? No, la Diosa fue celebrada y reverenciada por todos los miembros de las tempranas sociedades. Hombres, mujeres y niños estaban todos bajo la protección de la omnipresente Madre-Diosa. Ella era a la vez Nutriente y Terrible. Hoy, la cultura de la Diosa está reemergiendo también en hombres, mujeres y niños, que celebran y respetan las energías femeninas. Cuántos tipos de Diosas existen? La Diosa es una sola y al mismo tiempo muchas: americana como Pachamama, Hilandera o Coatlicue, egipcia como Isis o Sekhmet, griega como Gaia, Demeter, Perséfone, Afrodita, Hera, Diana, Artemisa, Vesta, Hécate, babilónica como Inana o Lilith, hindú como Kali, Lakshmi o Tara, orientales como Kwan Yin o Ameratsu, afroamericana como Yemanyá, Oshún, celta como Freya y Brigid. Cuando todas sus manifestaciones se reúnen representan el pleno poder del arquetipo. Al celebrar a la diosa festejamos la diversidad, porque cada una tiene un atributo: hoy se puede ser una pero mañana otra. Y el conocerlas a todas y vivenciar los arquetipos femeninos universales nos ayuda a valorar nuestras diversas facetas y a enfrentar con fortaleza nuestro camino único de individuación.
