One of the first things that I did when I recieved my new calling was plan a board meeting with our YW board. The whole presidency, (besides...
Dear Readers, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for taking almost a month off. I truly apologize. But between family vacations, reunions and being called as ward camp leader and stake girl's camp director (note to self, never accept both callings at the same time again), life this summer has been busy to say the least. I am however, really excited to share with you what we did, things I made for our stake girls camp, and other things I've been making over the summer but literally have NOT had time to post. Here is the first post I would love to share with you about Stake Girls Camp! Scripture Candy! I came up with these fun "scripture candy bars" for girls camp. I have been to 13 girls camps so far and I am sure plenty more are to come. This SERIOUSLY worked AMAZING! Every year YW leaders roll their eyes and heave a big sigh when we say, "Secret Sisters!" I did NOT want that this year. I have seen it done MANY ways and my sister Candace (she is in the Stake YW presidency and was my right arm with girls camp) and I came up with a way to "level the playing field" for Secret Sister gifts. Truly this worked out AMAZINGLY! No one felt like they didn't get anything better, bad or best. We decided to have everyone bring CANDY BARS! REGULAR SIZE, no mini size and no large theater size candy. Simple and sweet. The thing they had to do with the candy was come up with a spiritual quote, scripture or saying that went along with the candy. Some candy or food items I saw over camp were: Regular Candy Bars (all varieties) Can of Pop Packages of Gum Small pkg. Gold Fish Small pkg. Trial Mix Small pkg. Oreos and other Cookies Life Savers Mentos Sweet Hearts Gatorade Lollipops etc. It seriously was awesome! The wards could come up with gifts and quotes together or the girls could individually bring their own. I never heard one negative comment from any leaders or girls about Secret Sister gifts, every leader said they loved it! SCORE! These were the ones I made! We had the girls choose from a "young woman bowl" and the leaders chose from a "leader bowl." So leaders got leaders, and girls got girls. I had a wave of candy/scripture inspiration come over me and I made these in just a few minutes! Scrap pieces of cute paper and a sharpie. VIOLA! I was pretty excited to give these to my Secret Sister, and she loved them too. NOTE: I am ALSO Ward Compassionate Service Leader and I will be making these for women of my ward who need a little "pick me up!" So these are NOT just for girls camp! They are for friends, family, ward family and everyone in between! If you can't read them, here is what they say. (I made these literally just a few hours before I left for camp) Hershey's bar: What is your Favorite Scripture Hero? (Mine is Capt. Moroni - Alma 48:17) York Peppermint Patty: "Yor Mint" for Greatness! D&C 64:33 Reeses: Read your Scriptures Daily! They give us true understanding. Proverbs 3:5 Kit Kat: Kneel before your King. "Gratitude turns what we have into enough." (I wrote on the back a scripture about prayer and I encouraged to give a prayer of just thanks.) Girls Camp ARMOR UP 2016 (I totally propped this up, set it on a timer then ran like crazy to get in there. It was hilarious! I'm the one bending over on the far right side.) Don't forget to check out my Scripture Candy 2! Linking up here

Next Sunday we are having a lesson on service. As I was browsing the web I came across this cute idea on Pinterest. I changed it just a bit to fit what I wanted, but the idea and much of it remained the same. I bought 6x9 clasp envelopes wrote the girls name and TOP SECRET on the outside. When they open the envelope there is a top secret assignment letter, a list of possible secret service ideas and a moustache that I connected to a white candy stick (I cut the moustache out with my silhouette machine). Here is what my letter said: Mission Possible A Seven Day Service Challenge Dear Agent ___________________, Your mission, if you choose to accept, is to secretly serve others. For the next seven days you are required to perform random acts of kind service. The difficulty lies in your ability to not be seen, caught on tape or otherwise have your identity compromised. Begin by choosing and locating your targets. Next, choose what service or kind deed you are going to perform. Third, perform the service without being caught. Finally, record your acts of service on the sheet below. Prepare for this mission by logging into www.lds.org with your secure password and read “You are my hands” a talk by President Uchtdorf. Good Luck on completing your mission. (Use the moustache for undercover emergencies only!) Monday ____________________________________________________________ Tuesday ____________________________________________________________ Wednesday__________________________________________________________ Thursday__________________________________________________________ Friday____________________________________________________________ Saturday____________________________________________________________ Sunday____________________________________________________________ “True love requires action. We can speak of love all day long - we can write notes or poems that proclaim it, sing songs that praise it, and preach sermons that encourage it - but until we manifest that love in action, our words are nothing but ‘sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal’ ”. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Ensign May 2010) The next letter was ideas on service they could perform. Here it is: Secret Service Ideas Do one of your brothers or sisters chores without them knowing. Make a treat and take it to someone. Ring the doorbell and run. Read to your younger siblings. Do what you can to make the day go smoothly without fighting with your siblings. Make a family members bed. Do the laundry. Write a nice note to someone and drop it by. Smile at 3 new people today. Secretly clean out your parents car. Call a friend and see how they are doing. Pick up any trash you see for a whole day. Don’t complain all day long. Tell someone you love that you love them (family member or friend). Secretly take your leader a special treat. Make someone feel loved. Prepare a meal for your family. Visit someone (not just a friend) who might be lonely...with your parents approval. Plan a Family Home Evening and invite a new family. Clean your room without being asked. Make something for someone and leave it for them to find on their pillow. Weed in the yard without being asked. Write a letter to a missionary. So something kind for someone you don’t know very well. Visit a less active member for the purpose of getting to know them better. Give sincere compliments to others throughout the day. Offer free babysitting for a couple who could use it. Speak kindly all day long..no negative or complaining words. My favorite thing was the moustache.
Who here loves putting up new young women bulletin boards? Even when I'm satisfied with the young women bulletin board end result, assembling it can be not only tedious, but time consuming. 🕰🙄 I tried set out to simplify this process as I set up our 2021 Young Women bulletin board! It turned out soooo cute, and we were able to save time putting it up by following these five simple tips. 1. Supercharge productivity with teamwork Try This: There is a lot of menial work to do as you prepare for bulletin board setup. Doesn't cutting out elements + stringing together banners sound SO exhilarating? 😆 We can "bear one another's burdens" by sharing the load. 👉 You’re a hardworking + busy Latter-day Saint leader! Just like the other people in your presidency. So who can help? (Hint: it’s the same people you’re setting this up for…) 👱🏻♀️ YW bulletin board setup can be turned into an activity. Listen to the new youth theme music or talk while you work. 🎶 With so many helping hands, it will take a small fraction of what it would for you working solo. It Worked for Us: 🙏Total shoutout to my mom, who helped me put this together from her years of experience putting up bulletin boards. My fab sister also joined the team. 🤝 2. Use a low maintenance setup Try This: For better or worse, we live in a virtual world. 💻 I know some people like to keep their bulletin boards up to date monthly, and that’s totally cool. 😉 But if you hate updating your bulletin board, why constantly make yourself do it? 👉Make your bulletin board theme based & avoid any monthly or seasonal info like lessons, birthdays, or activities. Chances are, you already communicate this information digitally, so, no loss to your group! It Worked for Us: We spent a Saturday morning setting up, then did some major high fives knowing we wouldn't have to update the bulletin board anytime soon. 🥳 We were able to do this because our (my) kit includes enough assets to fill the bulletin board without needing to add changing info. 3. Make a battle plan Try This: I hate spending hours at the church on bulletin boards and getting so burnt out! 🥵 Save your energy by deciding beforehand how you want to lay out your elements ahead of time. Then, on assembly day, you're just stapling. No guesswork. 😎 It Worked For Us: 🕵🏻♀️I called this a "crime scene" because we measured the bulletin board dimensions & then made our own at-home replication where we could shuffle things around until we had our desired result! 4. Use a neutral background Try This: This step goes into helping your future self—or whoever gets to change the bulletin board next😂—years in advance! 🔮 No one wants to take down the border and background off of the bulletin board in addition to changing it. 🙅🏻♀️ Do your bulletin board a favor & use a nice neutral color that will go with any and every color palette you may use with future themes.🎨 Ideas include: Straight-up cork board ✨ Brown Kraft paper 🤎 Light grey fabric◽️ or any other neutrals you can find! For your border, use another neutrally colored ribbon & you’re good to go for wherever the theme takes you in the next few years! 📅 5. Delegate its creation to save energy & time Try This: 🙋🏻♀️ Been there, done that, and learned that it takes hours to create an effective & beautiful bulletin board kit. You can spend your time on this process (finding an effective color palette, researching meaningful quotes, choosing fonts & images that are cohesive, creating dozens of assets and unified designs...🥵). 👉But when you say “yes” to the long process of DIY-ing the bulletin board graphics, what other uses of your time are you saying “no” to? 😎 Get that time back by purchasing this supercute bulletin board kit to save you time and sanity, and excite & teach the young women about the theme this 2021 year! 💛 I hope tips like these help you! Before you leave, I want to make sure you know this is NOT the only resource I have to help you as a busy Latter-day Saint. 📌 Follow me on Pinterest to easily see & save all the helpful resources & freebies I’ve made for you. 😉 ✨A sparkling water toast to 2021! ✨

I am getting very excited to teach this upcoming Sunday! The lesson outline that I will be using is "How Can I Strengthen My Testimony?" As I have been reading over various talks, I was especially touched by President Monson's talk, "Believe, Obey, & Endure". I plan on using the outline of President Monson's talk for my lesson on Sunday. Below are some thoughts and visuals I have put together for my lesson! I have also created a bookmark handout for each of the girls. Feel free to use any ideas or any handouts! (you can download them by right clicking on the picture and selecting "save image as"... you can copy and paste the images in a word document and manipulate the size as desired) I want to start the class off by talking about somethings that might weaken our testimony. I will then talk about how one of the most important things we can do everyday is strengthen our testimony. I will transition into talking about 3 ways the girls can strengthen their testimonies now. I plan on making some assignments for the girls and advance, and having them read President Monson's talk. After discussing the 3 different ways the girls can strengthen their testimonies, I will talk about how sharing their testimonies often can bless the lives of others. I plan on inviting the girls to bear their testimonies one by one with the rest of the young women. After sharing testimonies, I plan on giving each girl the bookmark below to remind them of the importance of strengthening their testimonies on a daily basis.
Pin It This idea came from my Visiting Teacher Chrissy Lee, who brings me wonderful treats like this all the time! So of course I had to make them for mine. If you are not LDS you might be wondering what General Conference is...Twice a year we get to watch a broadcast of our church leaders as they inspire and encourage us to be more Christ like. Click HERE for more info. What is a Visiting teacher?...click HERE. Ok, back to the cute stuff. You can download the topper HERE. The bag is filled with a personal bag of popcorn, notepad, pen, extra gum and lotion. It cost about $2.00 a kit if you can get a good deal on the lotion. The penas and little pads of paper were in the school supplies on clearance(I always pick some up when I find a good deal.) I could only find the small packs of extra gum at Dollar Tree. And make sure you get the Jolly Time brand of popcorn, the other brands personal size packages were as big as a regular bag. Have fun! S&P Recipe: MDS 6" x 8" Cellophane bags (102210)

We were excited for Valentine's Day this year because we were having visitors! Michaels brother & family came to visit, which meant COUSINS!!! The girls took pixy sticks for their Valentine...we make them every year. My little Hallie was so adorable! I love dressing this little girl up! Our totally awesome sister missionaries, Sister Berger and Sister Vander Does dropped by to do some service! They came and did dishes and vacuumed! They are so cute, and we love them!

We all know what it is like to leave home for the first time and head to Girl's Camp. The unknown can be a little scary. This year our YCL'S will have the chance to take on the role of BIG SIS to one of our younger campers. In order to decide who will be the BIG SIS to the LITTLE SIS...I've created fun PINK CARDS that say LITTLE SIS on them. I'm going to place them into a bin and let the YCL'S at our last YCL meeting choose a name from the pile. They will then take on the responsibility to make sure that that Young Woman gets welcomed to camp, feels special, and has a buddy that will be there for her whenever she needs a friend. I've created a little YCL reminder as to what their responsibilities are and a simple All About Me Sheet that the YCL'S can fill out to give their LITTLE SIS when they meet for the first time at camp. I know our YCL'S are very creative so I'll be sure to share more once this gets put into place for camp. Some of you may want to use this as a way for your Young Women to get to know the Activity Day Girls. I could see you doing some fun things with this within your ward too. If you would like the BIG SIS LITTLE SIS PDF file...please send me an email at [email protected] or comment here with your email address.
