Good morning friends! It's Corey of Coriander Quilts here and today, I am excited to introduce you to Strawberry Jam. When I was growing up, every summer when June rolled around, it was strawberry picking time. My Mom would wake my sisters and I up at what felt like the crack of dawn - but more than likely it wasn't much earlier than 7:00 am - to head to the strawberry patch.

Wordsmith (n.) one who creates with words I’ve often wished that I kept a diary or an art journal but after many attempts I’ve had to admit that I’m just not that sort. And yet, I really do want to remember and record our ordinary days. After all, what you do every day is more important than what you do once in a blue moon. One day I realised that I could simply stitch our stories and here we are. ‘The Wordsmith’ is about noticing and cherishing the simple things in life. It’s about love letters, little notes and finding pressed flowers in favourite books. Now’s the time to quieten your mind, gather your memories and slowly piece them together with beautiful fabrics to create a lasting cloth to be treasured by generations to come: a quilted memory to cherish. So come, gather your letters and your threads and be a wordsmith with me. • Full colour throughout with beautiful photography • Full page photographs of every letter block and memory quilt block, providing you with ideas and inspiration to create your very own Memory Quilt • Guidelines for creating an Alphabet Quilt and a Poetry Quilt using the alphabet templates • 114 pages • Lithographically printed and perfect bound with a lovely textured cover • Size: 210mm x 210mm

When my little boy and I cross a busy parking lot, or through a crowded mall, I always grab hold of his hand, to make sure he's near me, he's safe. Sometimes at bedtime, after all but the nightlights have...
My tangle pattern Entwine Ahh, the sorrows of growing old. Someone posted a zentangle, where they had used a preprinted interlace design. Marguerite Meara commented that I probably had steps to the pattern. I didn't, but now I do. I wrote the who, what, when and where down, but promptly mislaid the paper (honestly, I don't know why I write anything down. I always lose it), and I can't remember any of the info I wrote down. So there's the sad, sad story. If anyone knows the ZT I'm talking about, I'd love to link to it. This is an advanced pattern. I could have done it in six steps, but I wanted to emphasize the alternation of the peaks. You draw a peak that narrows at the top, then a peak that narrows at the bottom, leaving a space between the two. That space is interlace, and sets the width of the lace. You repeat this alternation for the length you want for the braid. Like most interlace, it takes a little patience and a little practice. I had a hard time figuring out how to do it, until I laid the pattern on its side. If you are having trouble, try doing it up and down instead from left to right. I think it looks kind of cool at step 5, so if you're having a lot of trouble, just bag steps 6-9 and leave it at that. This is supposed to be fun!
This one is one of my instant favorites. I love classic artwork and this one is so clear and positive, but beyond that so many details shine on. I wonder if this type of art is what inspired the later classics like some of ones, I have from The Saturday…

planning the story prompts Did you see the cover to the Month at a Glance Storyline Chapters Planner above? This IS the life. This is it guys. It's all we got. What stories are you telling? Today is a look inside another Highlights page spread in the Storyline Chapters Planner. These pages are sort of work horses for me. Meaning, I make these pages work for me. I take the time to write down what I want to remember. These pages are inspiration for other stories. Let me point out again a couple of things found on these pages. The left hand column, the one numbered 1-31? Yep. That one. That for me is a gratitude list. This list alone makes for great story prompts. I mean, we would have to be writing or scrapping a story a day just to keep up with that list. You know my challenge continues to be, write down at least one thing every day you are grateful for. You will never be without a story to tell. As with most of my planner pages, I like to keep with a color scheme. For me this keeps the page cohesive. I stayed with greens and pops of black. I worked Storyline Chapters stickers and pattern paper into this page, as well as some Color Fresh Stickers. I just go through my stash and pull colors that I think will go. And hidden under that DIY interactive flap? Something I am working on, but maybe don't want for public consumption. This page here is the heart and soul of the Highlights page. Several stories all on one page. This page here is where I very often document a snippet of a story, which very well turns into a larger story in an album or mini album. If not now, then at another time. I have what I need right here. Plenty of words to prompt the story. But here's the thing. If I don't get that story on a page spread, I still have it. Because something is better than nothing. These little tellings here are better than to not have these stories written down anywhere. (Oh. And she can't help but make it pretty with some stencil play. More stickers. And another pop of black.) Friends, let me encourage you: Put these pages to work for you. Tell your story. Whenever you can. However you can. Because this IS the life. It's the only one. Here's to hoping these pages provide inspiration for you to tell your story. Hey friends...when you shop these links below, I receive a small kick back from your sales from Scrapbookcom. There is absolutely no extra cost to you at all! But these commissions help to cover the costs of this blog and other expenses to provide you with these and other project ideas. I want to continue to bring you FREE inspiration. Finished. Done. No more pages to fill, ready for it's permanent place in history! Today i wanted to post a bunch of art. My schedule has been so crazy, you are probably wondering where my art has been??!! I absolutely, create every day, mostly in my drawing journals. Here's half a book, enjoy! I completely filled my little my little green Handbook journal this weekend. The book has 128 toothy pages which means that i illustrated 256 pages! Here are about 70 of those pages. Can you imagine this blog post if i had ALL 256 pages posted! That's a lot of cawfee sipping as you scroll through the pages! Many of the pages are my brainstorms and ideas for projects, classes and workshops. Lots of watercolor in this journal. This particular brand of journal, Handbook loves paint and marker! It's my favorite for bright, vibrant color. Love the little pocket in the back that you can store your treasures. The elastic band is great for wrapping it all up! And so, it's a wrap! …it's on to the next one, "My Little Red Journal". So many fresh blank pages awaiting my artful wisdom...

You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite. Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing: Annette Using James by Lili of the Valley I personally enjoy making both styles, although I find the clean and simple theme far more challenging because mine seem to feel 'unfinished'. I've tasked myself to make a clean and simple card that I'm happy with. This one's for a dad who's keen on fishing, so the masculine theme tends to lend itself more to clean and simple. Brenda I have to say fussy for now. This card doesn't have a lot going on at first glance, but it did take several steps to complete it and I loved the process it took and all the texture that was achieved. Chrissy Oh, I'm full on fussy, I love the keep adding stuff, layering and building just makes me happy... Elaine I am not to good at adding too many embellishments, I end up with a mess! So it is clean for me. I love this black and white with a pop of red. Larissa I have always been a more clean card maker. I don't like adding lots of stuff on my cards. When I use patterned paper, I only use 1 sheet and I also often make cards without any patterned paper. I don't like to add lots of embellishments, and often I don't use any at all. Lynne My cards are a lot cleaner than they used to be, mainly because of the cost of posting. I still like to add a few pearls though and seeing as this one wasn't being posted I added a little bobtail too. Sarah I am a cleaner kind of crafter these days and tend to make flatter cards. I have a love of symmetry and paper pads so the two generally make for a clean design. A white border always adds to a clean look I always think. Wilma I love them both. But nowadays I go for the clean cards. It also depends on the type of card or for female or male. It's over to you. We hope you will join in our challenge and show us your style. Don't forget, you MUST explain WHY it is your favourite to be eligible to win. Good luck, and happy crafting. Hugs from the AYLI girls. You are invited to the Inlinkz link party! Click here to enter
